People forget that FFX's voice acting was the first of its kind, and the cast were basically guinea pigs. But over the years, especially in Dissidia 1+2, James Arnold Taylor and Hedy Burress's performance as Tidus and Yuna was a huge improvement IMO.
@@EyMcFly Imo he did a great job in FFX off the bat. People forget that 20 years ago, lip flaps were not reanimated. Trying to match timing and delivery within the confines of translations is bound to limit the voice actors in some way.
@@catplayermissed5360 As long as people could understand that the issues with the game's dub weren't the voice actors themselves but the technology at the time, then I'd be very happy
@@NoeLoFi the voice acting wasn't, but the dub very much was. Lots of lines are either really fast or awkwardly slow to match up the original voice acting Like I said, without the setbacks of 2001 dubbing technology, the voice actors really shine
@@dragonballhaven1417 No one calls him Tidus in the original game but in every game he's in afterwards they say his name. Dissidia for example. Bit specific aren't you? You autistic?
They're in the top 6 along with Squall x Rinoa, Zidane x Garnet, Cloud x Tifa, and Cecil x Rosa, but the best would have to be Locke x Celes from FFVI.
In Final Fantasy X, Yuna was prepared to shoulder the burden of being a summoner by herself so that nobody would be sad when she died (at least that's how she saw it).
It's funny because when I played FFX I spent so much time grinding with the Aeons and using their overdrives to beat tough bosses that Yuna became my strongest character. I took her all over the sphere grid, mastered all white and black magic, and she could hit even harder than Auron with basic physical attacks and go well over 9999. By the very end of the game she didn't even need the Aeons anymore lol.
huh, they sure made yuna more straight-laced in this game. sure, she's always been dutybound and all that, but i always remember she'd usually play around with tidus instead of shooting him down. heck, she was pretty playful on her own accord! (not saying that this wasn't cute - it was SUPER CUTE!!! and i honestly panicked as much as she did when she couldn't find tidus aaaaaaaa)
same ;; i usually wouldn't really care too much. i'm actually alright w/ tsunderes, but yuna isn't a tsundere by any means... they couldn't give that to anyone else if they really insist on it?? ;;;
When they used a remix of Suteki Da Ne at 4:15, also reminiscent of A Fleeting Dream, the music that plays in zanarkand that doesn't stop when you encounter fiends, I started to get flashbacks of the final fantasy x moments that meant so much to the story and characters. They also use a remix of the blitzball theme when Tidus jumps out of the water
So this is what they sound like when they have good voice direction. Don't get me wrong, I actually like the voice acting in FFX. However, this is amazing. They sound so natural. I've always loved their voices, so these scenes are like a gift from the gods.
Its not a matter of voice direction. It was actually due to technology at the time that they sounded the way they did. Which is a funny thing to learn when you're not in the industry. Always assumed it was the voices, barely thought about equipment being a problem.
Yuna canonically whistles with her left hand, not her right, despite her right hand being her dominant one. That seems to be the ONLY reason that she fails, despite whistling like that being REALLY hard to learn.
@@cjpkallday3293 No. Technically not. What I mean by that is probably best not spoiled in case you haven't played or know anything about FFX or X-2 however if you have played those and maybe even seen FFX Eternal Calm. As well as read (I think it's a book or something) X-2.5 and X-2 Last Mission then if you hear the audio drama in the FFX HD Remaster the mode right under Last Mission you will hear what happened to Tidus and Yuna. I don't want to spoil but yeah in case you don't know about it. Sorry
they definitely simplify the character's personalities for these spinoff games, just look at how one-note and emo they made Cloud in his kingdom hearts appearances and so on. At least in the remake they got it right
Its obvious the voice actors are so much more confident in their roles than they were in FFX, I think the voice director for this game is better than who square had in 2002
WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT Yuna says she never calls for help. Yuna is a Summoner. Isn't the very definition of a Summoner, particularly in the Final Fantasy sense, someone who calls for help!?
Yeah, someone wrote a script for Zidane and Garnet and then they messed up the models. And the voices. And the location? And the very specific character moments.
Yuna isn't being completely "her self". I really love the personality of Yuna in the english version of FFX (better than japanese for me). Yuna in english is so delicate, calm, always smiling and carrying for the feelings of others. In this version is a little more severe, speak faster and with more force.
Everyone in 2001: “I hate tidus’ voice! Reeee!!!” Everyone now: “I guess it’s not so bad, I do like ratchet and clank and the Star Wars clone wars after all.”
@@kingsarverjr502 last time i've heard of a possible X-3(like almost a decade ago) everything was about a cult trying to resurrect Sin, and a guy trying to convince Yuna to break up with Tidus while they were an official couple while facing this cult...Tidus and Yuna trying to be good uncle and aunt to Wakka's baby in Besaid....then everything was shut down
I love that they brought the same voice actors to reprise their roles, I can't imagine anyone but James Arnold Taylor voicing Tidus and Hedy Burress being the voice of Yuna
it's weird seeing Yuna this serious while in FFX she wanted to see her journey with laughter and in a mindset like "i don't need help" while she had 6 guardians to help her she don't feel like the true Yuna
World of Final Fantasy, Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin, Final Fantasy Type-0, and the Crystal Chronicles subseries are painfully underrated. They deserve more affection.
in FF10 she was more of a dreamer...but we know that it was mostly because 1 - Weird but funny nice guy was around(Tidus) 2- the fate of the world was on her shoulder 3- she really NEEDED to be playful for not getting crushed by that weight on her shoulders...and when she got crushed...we got the kissing scene...
I know WOFF was highly underrated because for the longest time it was known as that silly "cute" game that was featured at E3 2015 before the VII: Remake blockbuster announcement, but I really enjoyed the game all the way through; the FF characters were pretty much all voiced by their original VA, and the story itself was well done.
