My cat has been using this system for 2 years now and I could never go back. I use a simple litter box as a base to catch all the sawdust. I also use potty pads to sort of line the simple litter box to absorb urine that the pine pellets won’t absorb. The litter box is just the right size where the Breeze System fits snug on top with enough room for sawdust to collect beneath. It requires daily maintenance for stool and sawdust to fall below. Every 3 days I clean out the sawdust and replace the liner. I bought 2 bags of Tractor Supply Pine Pellet Stall Bedding. One bag will literally last a year. No joke. Oh yeah, I only have one cat if that matters.

The pellets that actually for the system do not turn into sawdust and the pads are for urine. That is what the slits are for.
@pegz.3959
@pegz.3959 Год назад
The tray gets extra wet because the urine passes by the pellets more quickly and does not have a chance for it to sit at the bottom and allow the litter to soak it up. Here's a handy solution......sprinkle a layer of pine pellets in the tray and actually dump the tray everyday. I would never let it go for five days without getting rid of the urine soaked litter no matter what box I used.

You have to use the breeze system with a larger litter box beneath it to give room for the saw dust. We also use puppy pads to line the litter box beneath to make cleaning much easier. You don’t use their tray. It works very well if you use it the way just explained.

Do the puppy pads help at all w/ smell, which this girl mentioned was an issue? Those pads are pretty bulky, and I wonder if plastic bag liners wouldn't do as well w/ cleanup.

I have been doing the same as you, but it is still messy, because it clumps up in the grooves of the Cat Breeze where the tray would go. It messy and wet and that area, and stinky as well. I have to take it all apart and go outside and hose it down. It is hard to do that in the winter time. I am looking for another alternative using pine pellet and puppy pads
@tharais
@tharais Год назад
@@EliseAngelofHealing I've read this same story elsewhere. But, I haven't experienced this problem. The only time I see the grooves get plugged up, is when the saw dust is piling up too high. I either empty the tray or shake it around to solve that. And, it's never been messy and/or wet.
@EliseAngelofHealing

@tharais I have four litter boxes for three cats. Two are not so bad, but the other two where they pee a lot is. I guess I need to change the puppy pads two times a week or more if what you say is true. I only change it once a week. The puppy pads are usually really wet when I change them. I feed my cats raw. so that could be the reason why they pee more. I saw on one video that they cut that part out where the tray fits in since they were having the same issue as I am. I got a dremel and going to cut the part away. I am going to do it with all of them.

Doing it wrong: Add a wee wee draped over the tray under the green grate and you can change it easily(ignore the drawer). When the saw dust reaches the grate You can shake the entire thing to level it out to gain another day. To change, put the fresh wee wee pad on the floor (optional, I started sprinkling lavender baby powder on the wee wee pad ) take off the top together with and place grate and ring on the wee wee pad. Take the corners of the wee wee pad, fold in word and roll like a diaper. It smells like urine for two seconds before you throw it into your garbage bag. finally left the Wii pad the great at the ring together and place on top of the gray bottom make sure the edges of your Wii pad are poking out on all four sides. With four cats and five litter boxes set up the same way (Those arm & Hammer or DIY drilled can also use wee wee pads it makes cleaning simple) I change, which ever hit the grate as needed. The Stack style sifting box I change once they get an inch between them because then the odor can escape from the sides. There is a woman who has a Persian cattery that I learned this from. She changes the bottom box into a small litter box I don’t find that necessary to upgrade that I would rather just change them More often I don’t have 15 cats at my house

I have two boxes similar to your old ones and all I did was glue some pieces of plumbing pipe at each corner of the sifting tray (underneath) so that when it sits in the catch tray the sawdust just falls through! Makes it easier to scoop too, I just mix around with a scoop daily to help get the sawdust through. :)

I bought the Breeze system--and ended up just using the sifting part over an older, larger litter pan lined with a puppy pad. Rather than buying another Breeze system and throwing away my old litter pans, I just drilled a ton of holes in one litter pan and placed it on top of another pan that was lined with a puppy pad. I felt like there wasn't enough clearance for the sawdust collection, so when looking for something easy to add extra space--I decided to use several golf balls along the edge of the bottom pan. This worked, but there was a slight amount of "play" between the two pans, so I simply folded up a piece of cardboard to act as a wedge between the top of the two pans to eliminate any movement. The sawdust collection is much more efficient using my homemade version. I used a 1/4 inch drill bit. I also find that using the puppy pads is extremely efficient. When I want to change the pads, I simply lift the top pan out and place in on a clean puppy pad, and then lift up the 4 corners of the used pad to place it in the garbage--no mess at all! The benefits are that my cats no longer have to breath in all the dust associated with clay litter, the amount of dust in my house is drastically reduced, and I'm not having to spend a fortune on clay litter.

The tray gets wet because some of the urine has a chance to leak through the pellet, unlike a pan where the urine is forced to get soaked up. Hope that makes sense. The solution would be is to have some actual pellets randomly placed in the tray underneath OR use the pee pads that actually come with the system.

I use the system you have been using. The one with the tray seems worthless with three cats unless you change it at the very least, once a day. I set my sifting litter containers inside a larger tub which set in wood dog crate/tables. The larger tubs are lined with potty pads for when them "miss". I use a pair of designated tongs to pick up pooh throughout the day putting them in a small bucket to carry to the garage trash can. The only time I have issues with pee smell is if for some reason I wasn't able to sift and dispose often.

Look up the Victoria Gardens Cattery video on how to use this Breeze system with pine pellets properly, even if you have a ton of cats. I only have one but ended up on a deep dive to try and find a better system than I currently have (which is just scooping a regular box). The system that lady recommended looks AMAZING. Like, seriously, almost no work. The key is getting a different, full size box for the bottom instead of using the tray.

I've used pine and clay litter and while the clumping clay is easier, the pine pellets don't stink up your house. Even though I scoop twice every day with clay, it still gets smelly before a week is up. With pine, if you're removing the poop, and getting rid of the pee soaked sawdust regularly, there is no cat box odor. The sifting trays just make it easier than trying to use a scoop to sift out the sawdust. I think the Breeze would work fine with pine litter as long as you empited the tray of sawdust daily or maybe every other day.
@deprofundis3293
@deprofundis3293 2 года назад
@@sabrinamcneill8023 I agree about the pine covering up/absorbing the scent SO much better better. So, I invested in this litter box (got a coupon off so it wasn't expensive) and got a cheap open litter box that fits it precisely (the So Phresh regular open top litter box from Petco) underneath to replace the tray. It's working wonderfully! And I don't actually have to dump the sawdust daily - so far I'm doing it once a week. The only scooping I'm doing is of the poop (which is easy because I have the box next to the toilet and just flush the cat poop when I use the bathroom myself.) If I had a larger trash can, I think just dumping the sawdust from the tray daily would work well instead of getting the separate box, but the tray is just a little too wide to not make a mess for me if doing that. The litter box upkeep has already been DRAMATICALLY less than any other method I've tried since owning cats my whole life!

The Happy Cat Sifting Litter Box (used to be called the All Pine Litter Box). This one looks like it would be the best solution for pine pellets! First, you have three cats. Second you should cleaning litter boxes frequently for the health of the cat and the home. You are not suppose to leave it for as long as you did. Urine in the air alone is unhealthy. Just because your other system holds more doesn't mean it should or you should be leaving it as long as you are. When you use things properly, they work.

The only time i ever change all the liter out is if one of my cats have diarrhea - which is thankfully exceedingly rare I buy generic off-brand pee pads for like half the price as the tidy cat pads, which is the only thing i have to actually change out regularly

@@TrueNorth1217 This smaller version just does not work with more than one cat. The XL box is twice the size. I found a container (Rubbermaid RMCC410001, 41-Quart, Clear) that fits the sifting layer for the XL box almost perfectly. I ditched the drawer layer and now have 6 inches of space for sawdust. Use with a XL puppy pad. You can go at least a week in between changes.

Did you try mixing? Clay litter is really bad for cats as well as the environment.

Give at least 10- 12 days, use one litter box with mix litters and one with clay then add 10% each day in both. Replace the clay litter completely after 10 days

My friend had offered me this box and I told her no cause the try looks too small. Glad I turned her down.

Too bad. Works great! MUCH better than any other system I've used.

You're supposed to use the pads or puppy pads under it.... that's what makes it easy to clean..puppy pads. So, you did it wrong. Make a new review.

Pellets with pee=good! Pellets with poop=bad! Sorry, I do not like the poop with Pellets. It's just a big mess.

You don't use the right litter for that litter box. The tidy cat box was not meant for what your used to use. Smh!!
