Tidying to improve my anxiety

When my anxiety comes knocking, I try to figure out what the cause of it is and how I can alleviate it. While my home wasn't the cause this time, I knew that things being out of order weren't helping my mental state.
You may think that I hardly had any messes - and I didn't! (I have NO judgements about how you keep your home, whether is it messier or tidier than mine on any given day.) But when I looked at my kitchen table, I saw things that weren't getting dealt with. I saw piles building up and cluttering my surfaces, and I saw laundry I was avoiding. All of these things served as reminders that that my mind felt chaotic, and I needed to change that.
