Ok gonna show my age here!! But in the 80's there was a trend to wear denim that looked like it was covered in paint and this reminds me of that. I know you said you're not sure but I love it! I think the red adds to it!

I had another viewer make a shirt using the same colors I did minus the black cherry, and it looked great! She did a scrunch instead of a spiral, but it looked really good without the big red streaks.

I agree with you that it’s most likely the black cherry split because I really don’t see any black which is what I was expecting. Good video, as always, to show you never know what the final outcome will be. 👍

I used black cherry on another shirt recently and got the same split, so I think it's probably what split red. It's kind of out of place on this hoodie though.

@@medolark I'm not sure. I tried to not add a lot of dye to that area, but most of the colors I used are pretty dark.

It looks like a true zombie dye piece! I think it had to be the black cherry as well. And as Vicki said, it does look like paint splatter! It’s truly not a bad piece, if you like a lot of colors. I personally wouldn’t wear it but I know there are a lot of folks that would! Great video Angie!

I love that bright candy red with all the other colors, has a bit of a rainbow lollipop vibe :] But I can see how it's a bit disappointing because I love that blue and green on the bottom too, and the blue and purple on the right shoulder

I agree. I purposely didn't add a lot of dye to the middle, but it turned out pretty dark. I should've named this one "candy factory chaos". 😀

Those colors look great! I agree about the red, that one just made it seem a little darker, for me. Others seem to enjoy the extra reds, which is great. Any suggestion for scrunch dying sweatshirts in the muck? I let them set for 24 hrs after melting and they are pretty much covered with liquid. However sometimes the colors seem muddled, not as nice as when I do a t shirt the regular ice dye way. I've done a shiitake, a brushed steel and bubble gum and I'm not sure what I need to change. I don't see a lot of videos on sweatshirts in the muck. Thanks for all you share!

That's a tough one. Muck in general will make them a bit darker and a bit muddled. Especially sweatshirts because they soak up so much of the muck. Have you ever tried using wiffle balls under your scrunches in muck dyeing? I don't know if I have either, but that might be interesting to try. That would give a little more dimension to the sweatshirt and cause some areas to remain a bit lighter.

Thank you! It probably would've helped to rack dye it instead of muck dyeing it. It wouldn't have been as dark.

I think that would look a lot cooler if it wasn't a spiral and a scrunch instead. The total chaos all the colors and splits causes isn't doing a spiral any favors. I don't think the amount of colors and splits is the problem but that it's trying to fit some orderly pattern instead of being random. Controlled Chaos can be a very cool thing, but with more chaos you need more control. Either that or just let the chaos happen as it will and enjoy it 'as is'.

👍I watched a second time and I like this hoodie! It reminds me of a garden full of color❣️I was never into tie dye but I love it now All the colors make me feel happy as I suffer with depression and anxiety so I craft and it helps. Anyway I don't use Darmha😭because its $78 and change just for delivery I live in 🇨🇦 about an hour from Toronto😭😭😭so I use Jacquard. I need help with substituting colours Like spicy plum lol again I really do like the hoodie. You know, we are our own worse critics 😉... its art. Its beautiful. Cheers✌️✌️✌️🇨🇦have a wonderful day🎈

@@debbiesmith6703 I get it. Paula Burch's website shows how to mix various dye colors. That might be a great option. I know Jacquard offers a lot of cool colors, but you could also mix some yourself. I don't mix dye colors, simply because I want someone watching the video to be able to replicate the color themselves. So, I use ones that are pre-mixed. However, I think it would be so much fun to mess around with making new colors. On facebook, Happy Cat Tie Dye mixes dyes and some of her colors are gorgeous. Is it possible to cut powder dye with soda ash or something to dilute the intensity, so you can ice dye and get pastel colors instead of dark colors?

No, soda ash won't make the colors less intense. To get pastels, it is easier to liquid dye. I've made a couple of pastel shirts. In order to get the colors light enough, I had to really dilute them a lot, and I mean A LOT. I kept adding water and testing the color on a paper towel until I found a color light enough to be a pastel.

That's a description that I haven't heard, but it's pretty accurate. 😂 Natural fibers will dye using Procion fiber reactive dye. Viscose supposedly comes from cellulose and so it's sort of a natural fiber, but not totally. It dyes really well though and it's super soft.
