In this episode of Tie TV, Daniel Bergman will tie a really nice mayfly imitation, mainly for brown trout fishing in streams, rivers and lakes.
Like all dry fly fishermen here in Scandinavia knows, from May to late June is like Christmas on many of our waters when the big mayflies are hatching ... and then you NEED to be ready with some mayfly imitations!

Thanks Daniel, two really great ideas, Coq de Leon fibers added to the CDC, and the ribbing with the pheasant tail fibers. Never seen either idea done before. Thanks for sharing, All the best, Sean

Nice Daniel. I'll have to give these a go here in the streams & rivers of south Germany. I still don't have a 'go to' mayfly pattern that I trust 100%... Let's see!

Great vid i would use it on a little river in the uk but in a size 10 as thats as bigas we can fish the river is called the river Derwent its in the northeast of England and it flows in to the tyne eventually 👍🎣🐟👍

Beautiful Mayfly and great to see another Petitjean enthusiast, although he would of course have used CDC throughout. Love the inclusion of CDL with the CDC. Would a parachute approach not improve buoyancy by keeping the CDL fibres in the same plane as the water surface?

I'd try in NZ or any river on the right time... but in the lake I'm fishing probably it would work starting now till August...

I do like that. I'm not clear how a buoyant material that is ABOVE the water would help. Still, it would be more proof against sharp teeth than most other materials. Mallard Wally wings last for one fish only. I think that huge mass of Coq de Leon you have would cost as much as a new Volvo.

Does the color of the wing matters? Could the Fish see a difference?

Der Stadtfliegenfischer On this fly I wouldn’t go for a to bright colored wing since it actually can be seen from under the water. When it comes to smaller imitations of mayflies I don’t think it matters that much.

I purchased a set of Magic Tool. It came with 3 pieces of wooden dowels. I didn't see you were using them in the video. What are they for?

Nice fly indeed. But why stripping off a half of the fibers from hackles? You can easily use the other side to tie a second fly!

There would seem to be no advantage to using hollow wing material... Plus, stripping the feathers on one side and then palmering them and trimming off the bottom fibers might work? If one doesn't have magic clips...? Thanks!
