Thank you for this video. I just started wearing Thursday Captains last week. I love the boots, but I couldn’t walk for five minutes without my laces coming loose. I searched RU-vid for how to tie boot laces, and found your video. Today I used the surgeon’s knot for the first time to tie my boots. I wore the boots today from 1:00 PM to 10:00PM, without the laces coming loose at all. Much obliged to you.
I've always used DIY paracord laces, but never knew how to get the proper knot. This makes total sense and is a big help with the pain on "number two". Thank You for sharing this information.
I teach students ages 3 to 80, and I always encourage their learning the surgeon's knot for shoe lace tying. It never occurred to me use the knot before applying laces to the hooks on hiking boots. Great idea! Cheers and thanks!
Thank you for that shoe-tying solution! My laces were driving me crazy. As for the poop bag problem, if someone took the time to bag it, that’s great. If it’s left on the side of the trail it probably means they’ll pick it up on their way back. That’s what I sometimes have to do when the trail doesn’t have litter cans along the way and I don’t want to carry poop along. Definitely don’t think it’s your problem. I’m grateful to just see folks bag it.
you got a great thing going here , your channel is the opposite than the other survival channels, i like it a lot . I cant get enough of your vids and teachings good sir thank you !
+Alan METALMAN Thanks Alan. Nothing more annoying than having to stop to fix a knot when you're wearing a backpack. This knot really works. I even use it on my office dress shoes! Stay well.
I've worn my work boots like this for years, it's a double starting knot before first hook and after. I first started doing it on a pair of Carolinas that were giving me a tough break in.
Yes it does !!!!! I've just reached home after a 10 hr long travel, by road, and was very pleased with the results. Never ones did they come undone. Thanks again. This piece of information turned out to be very helpful. My boots are "WOODLAND" btw.
learn the gibbons knot. but the way you lace you boot I was doing 50 years ago when I started climbing. but your knot may work a particular obnoxious pair of laces I have. or I could just get different laces. thanks.
Gonna try this tonite b4 work, pain in the ass when I'm driving a forklift, wearing thermal gloves(in winter) while wearing a scanner on my finger and have to stop and take off all that shit and tie my boots then put back on my gloves an scanner.
I respectfully submit that your bigger, and perhaps only, issue causing these laces to come untied is that you are using a granny knot. Had you been tying a square knot the problem would have been resolved. Start by switching which lace goes over / under and then tie as usual, you will find there is absolutely no need for any further knotting. The surgeons knot has Jerry Rigged your problem so it now works, as would melting the laces together, but it is not the best solution.
This may be a great knot that you are tying but I have to stop watching because the shoe is upside down. This is not what I see when I look down at my boots.
I hike all the trails in my area. I cannot tell u how many shit sacks I’ve encountered. Why even put it in a bag? So it doesn’t decompose as fast? Wtf. Countless shit sack fellas. I’ve made Facebook posts abt it tryin to understand the madness, to no avail. Is there a shit dairy that is supposed to come along and pick up the sacks? Ludicrous I tell you.
If any of y’all that didn’t know this, please just stay home. Y’all have no business hiking, backpacking in nature. Y’all going to get yourself hurt, just stick to sidewalks.
@@dbtrackz33 did you just tell me to “shut up stupid?” I’v never heard of a stupid person retiring at age 38. While your dumb ass gets up every morning to go to work, I enjoy my peace and quiet of my 14th year of my retirement. I watch tons of videos just for the hell of it. So get the fuck off of RU-vid and do the job your employer is paying you to do, well that’s if you actually have a job.
