Mania 2000's main felt like a No Way Out main event, where they just have the Champ have a big brawl with the guys you know he's gonna beat while Backlash felt like the actual main event.
He should've won at WM16. The fact that Rock never won a title at Wrestlemania is an absolute travesty. People actually threw trash in the ring when Triple H won.
It also helps that Rock and Hogan are the biggest stars in the history of the business alongside Austin. That match was lightning in a bottle, even Rock vs Cena didn't have the same atmosphere.
WrestleMania 17 is my favourite match, and always will be. Was my two favourites going at it growing up, the match is great, My Way is now always imtertwined, was perfect.
"He was just a lovely boy doing lovely things." "Jumping high?" Don't believe I ever saw Shane JUMP from those heights. It was always more of a Buzz Lightyear-thing. Falling with style... and luck. Did you mean his leap frog?
Rock/Hogan is in a weird way the perfect encapsulation of being a wrestling fan. The match itself was utterly shite yet the charisma of the two and the "storytelling" in the match had everyone invested and made it an absolutely amazing thing.
Hot take but the Rock vs Austin at Mania 17 is super overrated. The match itself was pretty bare bones. Yeah it was intense and bloody but the match felt dull and rather short and the whole Vince interference felt way too over dragged and made Austin’s win just feel confusing
A couple of things: 1. The Rock is Don Muraco. This idiot is Dwayne something. 2. I can rank every matched he ever had, on any show, ever. They're all a solid, deserving F.
