It's so neat seeing how your journals have evolved over the years. I love how you are constantly experimenting, trialling new ideas, and finding what works for you. Thank you for sharing your bujo journey.
📔 Man, that was some hard mahi you put into this video but so worth it - thank you, Jess - super inspirational! And that October lunar theme with the gold and beautiful washi still hits nr 1 for me - just 😍🤩🤯 - and having seen quite a few ranking videos this month, extra kudos to you for the super ORGANISED way in which you approached it. You ROCK, girl!
This is cool. It shows how far we come the longer we journal. It also is a reminder of how long I’ve been a sub. My favourite themes are always my Harry Potter ones I do every July, however I did a steampunk one for October this year and I love that one.😊 📖
An impressive variety of themes, colors, and patterns. Each month was very attractive and unique, and it was great to see your art styles progress and have your evaluations at the latter half of the video. How long does it take you on average to do a monthly theme with the associated weekly setups and habit trackers? Do you find that the monthly variety keeps you inspired to keep going with your bullet journal or is more of a creative outlet? Would you ever use a theme for an entire year - not the same doodles each month but variations on a theme (e.g. nautical, Halloween, Christmas, flowers and plants)?
Vera here from Bridgeport, Connecticut USA, so enjoy all your tutorials and your quirky antics. You provide such great contents, designs, color palette 🎨 and fun commentary. thank you so very much
📚 my most favorite layouts are Oct 2022 and the firefly theme ... and I love how you use a B6 🤩 and it is amazing how your style and use of your Bujo changed over the last years! Thank you for letting us be part of your journey! You inspire me with each of your videos!! 🥰🥰
📖 Have watched to the end now. Wow! So many good ideas! I’ve not been doing bullet journaling that long, but I think it’s good to look back and see how your style has developed and evolved.
📖 my fave is my Feb 2022 mermaids theme I think. I was very focused, it was my second ever and did lots of doodling and drew mermaids on all my weeklies. Going onwards I reduced how much time-consuming illustration I’ve done to make it more realistic and functional but I do love to look back on that time- it was a lot of fun and I was super proud
my favourite theme i’ve ever done by FAR was a dark academia theme - i’m a sticker user so i got stickers from heaps of different creators and then also used black and kraft paper, it was *chefs kiss* and i wished i could just stay in that theme for the rest of the journal (i think i did end up using it for an extra week or two, haha)
And here I am good with keeping with one maybe 2 colors, my “clean” handwriting, a seasonal Washi tape that is ripped on the edges, some stamps and/or stickers, and not-so-clean line highlighting. But then again, I can set up a whole month in less than an hour. I should try some calligraphy since I can do it fairly easily. 2020 was the year that all of us were asking why planning was even necessary being quarantined and all.
This is really making me think about what I might do- I mean, having a yearly theme would be pretty cool- Monthly theme, but with the yearly theme still in there, like having bees as the yearly theme, and incorporating them into the monthly themes in one way or another- brain is working too much rn
Aww thank-you! 💜 I appreciated that in this video in particular, I could really see how my abilities had really gotten better over time 💪 I'm sure it'll be the same for you too! 😄
I haven't watched your channel in a while since my bujo journey became much more simple since school got hectic. But it was really awesome seeing the spreads I watched you make in 2020 and how you've filled them in! Hopefully your videos show up in my feed again!!
I just got my first bullet journal last night. As I was deciding how to set it up, I realized I'll have much better success if I don't worry so much about themes or messes or mistakes - and instead just focus on completing pages. And from doing that I'll learn what I like and dont like, so my next journal can be even better.
📔So many good themes! I just started adding some decoration to my bujo so I'm finding my footing. Some pages look too busy, others look to simple, but I'm having fun!
📚📚📚 My favorite theme was a koi/windows computer layout! Basically I had my layout look like a computer with koi fish floating on it? it's hard to describe.
📕📘📗 I'm actually yet to start bullet Journaling. LOL. But, I love all of your spreads and I'm sure I'll take snippets of inspiration. Thanks!! Love that you're from NZ too!
📚I really like seeing the progression of your themes and seeing you reflect on what you like in a theme. I think my favorite theme I've done in my own journal was a Star Wars droids theme in May of this year. It was the first monthly set up where I did a lot of drawing; I'm not a big artist so my decorative elements usually tend towards stickers or washi tape rather than my own art. But I included a bunch of different droids I love and used two different Star Wars fonts for headers and it just looked amazing. Unfortunately, I was super slumpy in May so I didn't really use my journal that month. But I would 1000% do it again.
I just love to listen your voice when I do monthly set ups❤️ So calm and so animated at the same time👌❤️ My favorite themes that I have done since Sept 2018 are -2019 March DC superheroes (with some tweaking definitely redo theme), April music theme and December neon bubbles -2020 June blue theme and December strawberries and champagne (because Bruno Mars) -2021 January vintage letter theme, February Musicals, April cooking and June clocks -2022 January CSI:Miami theme, March Boy meets World, July Grey's anatomy and November The Night shift.
I’m newer to bullet journaling so I don’t have any favorite themes/spreads yet but you’re giving me lots of inspiration! I’m working with sort of a magical, celestial, creepy theme for October 2022 so we’ll see how that turns out! I love your channel. Thanks for all you do! 📚 📖 📕
The dream catcher theme did have a good color palate. I think of pastel colors when I think of dreamy. However you can perhaps keep that a warmer color palate instead, honoring it as a Native American tradition (think browns, blacks, reds, yellows, oranges, and creams).
📖 Thank you so much for showing your journals. It really helped me start my very first bullet journal. It's... probably worse than your 2017 journals, but it will grow, as I will :)
I’m planning to have a gingerbread man theme for December 2022 in my non-book journal, and am thinking of using kraft paper for the gingerbread men. It would avoid the streakiness of using a Tombow.
📚 you have done some amazing things Jess! Very very cool. The Phoenix, Garfield, American Road Trip and the Me 2 you bears theme are some of my favorites so far.
📚 Loved the book theme because I love books and ready, but the koi fish are amazing too. I also love the earlier journals and showing your progression through the years! Makes me feel like I might be able to make such adorable spreads like yours (which I have totally saved pics of for future inspo!) 💜
📖 This one was refreshing. I got lots of inspiration - how did you know I was struggeling with it! 😉 It's astonishing how many you've already created. It seems you started like yesterday.... I guess yesterday was five years ago.😆 Greetings from Austria!💜💜💜💜💜🙋🏻♀️
📖 So, I was actually doing my first BuJo while watching this. My “theme” (as I forgot to actually pick one before I started setting up) is pink, blue/teal, calm, butterflies. :P So many mistakes already. But it’s my first so…someday they’ll be better planned. ^_^
Jess, can you do a theme soon with the destressed inks or whatever they are called! Those colors were so vibrant and beautiful! Or if you have a video already let me know. I have no idea how you did that, I thought it was paper cuts you just added. Great content as always. My favorite I’d still the mountain geometric shapes theme. And I love some of your start of journal themes that you didn’t show.😉😘
📔 i love your themes. and with eleven in a-tier you can do almost a full year with just those. (jk) they are beautiful and seeing your journey makes me realize where my own can take me.
Was so lovely watching the journey of your bullet journalling 🥰 this is definitely one of my favourite videos of yours 😊 ty for the lovely content as always
new sub love this flip through i ofen wonder how OZ n NZ planners feel when most halloween xmas summer themes are the wrong time of year for you so i love Olafs summer holiday . i imagine it frustraiting when w all going into autumn cozy themes as you getting the bikini n sunscreen out
It's so funny to go back to 2016-2017 specifically and see the pervasive @bohoberry influence. She was the queen of bullet journaling back then. 💖 I wonder if in five or six years, there will be another influence/single style that was so distinct and ubiquitous?
I’d be curious to see how you could tweak a space theme from month to month to keep it fresh, so don’t be so quick to discount doing an entire year of space themes. 📚
OMG I'm so glad you did this vid! Not only is it really cool watching your bujo skills grow over the years but I've been taking screen shots of spreads I want to try. (like weekly set up etc) One of the things I am going to start incorporating in my new journal is meal plan/logs. Would you please tell me... what is DMBAH?? (forgot the time code sowwy) 29:14 This is a really cool layout. Abstract. :) 1:01:47 That lantern you did is really lovely! 35:27 Cannot stop laughing, I don't know why but Line 2 "Rachel and Vogel fucked up cabbage" just got me Rolfing XD 29:14 This is so beautiful!! Here's a wild and crazy idea. What about a Hair theme? Like Wigs? Different types of hairstyles? Can you just see a different wig for each date of the weekly? Ok maybe I'm looney tuney :D
I wish you wouldn't judge tour old journal pages on colour themes and such but on the functionality of them and which ones you had the most success with actually using.
@@JashiiCorrin I know but maybe you could also make another video focusing on the functionality of your spreads. So many of your pages look like they went barely used. I would love to see which pages you have had real use of and enjoyed using.
@@lisbetsoda4874 that one is a bit harder to judge sadly. Functionality of a layout isn't just based on the layout itself. For instance, I've had vertical habit trackers that have done wonders for holding me accountable some months, but others not so much. Normally that's related to factors outside of the layout, and more about what other things were going on it life, so it's not really a fair judgement to equate something not being used to not being useful, if that makes sense 😝
The font is normally chosen to match the theme, so theme usually comes first 😄 I’ve got a video about picking themes if that helps? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-v30iBU1k7ao.html
That panda one was just a fantastic and unique theme. My fave by a mile. Sorry you weren’t a fan of the weeklies because I’d replicate it in a heartbeat if I could draw better lol
📚 this was my very first month doing bujo and i really didn't have a theme, but for February i am doing a love letters theme because of incowrimo. Im not participating but i found a page on google that someone did that was letters/envelopes with some greenery and valentines candy hearts (the ones with the lil words). I changed it just a little and used negative/sassy candy heart phrases and i love it because it makes me chuckle every time i see them. And just bc i love them so much, ill list them here (so just imagine these in a beautiful, calm page and written on a pretty pastel heart lol): DUDE NO THX BRUH LMA (leave me alone) EW LAME AF NO CAP BZZ OFF U + UR HAND YEAH RITE IM DED NOOB HARD PASS BE GONE NOT TODAY NOPE NEXT BUH BYE CAN U NOT UGH MEH Then i just put the day abbreviations in them for my weeklies 😁
Haha, that's fair! 💜 I wonder how many people read the comments before they watch a video 🤔 I only usually do it when I'm part way through and wanna comment about something in the content, haha 😝
