Don't hate me here but I tried reading it a few times and just could not get into it for some reason. I started it, stopped and read something else. Came back to it a few months later to try again and STILL could not get into it. I don't know why. My mom got through them but said she didn't really enjoy them either. :/
A lot of people sleep on Meg's backstory and its killing me. She went through SO much trauma, sure DEFINITELY not as much as Nico or Hazel but still. She might be less important, immature and annoying, but tier-ranking the characters myself I put her in good/like because she just goes through so much trauma. You're forgetting the person who murdered her dad took her in, adopted her, but she faced so much trauma in his house, then was forced to betray her only friend for him. And we all dislike her because she's a little annoying.
And she gets way better in the latter books And most importantly, she's 12 and _children are annoying_ . Especially 12 year olds. That's the worst age for almost everyone
To be fair all of the kids at her age namely Percy Nico hazel had major trauma by that stage plus a lot of pressure so me playing devils advocate can’t help but think the backstory was a slight cop out by Rick instead of fleshing meg out tho she did get better with time but like other characters personally it felt a lil too late
shes legit 10 during these times to. like youre going to look at me and say you hate a truma filled ten yr old thats done nothing wrong...because shes annoyoing???
YES the Reyna bit. I honestly would make her top tier. She's a badass, strong, independent woman who doesn't need a man. I was actually really sad that she stepped down and joined the Hunters, I don't think she needs the maiden forever law to not date anyone. So what, she says no to everyone forever, just because she can? I also really loved her all through TBOO. The scene at home, finding out she killed her dad, taking out the giant whose name I forget... incredible, strong, independent female character of colour who I adore.
When she started talking about Luke: Like, yeah, he let a titan lord take over his body and almost his mind, and you shouldn't do that, but- Lesson learned. If I get brainwashed by a god and try to murder my best friends, people will still like me!
I’m not usually one to get upset with people over disliking a character I like, but if you tell me that Hazel and her storyline is not one of the best in all of Rick Riordan’s books, we can square up...💜 You best drink that respect Hazel juice.
and then she left him for rebirth without EVEN WAITING for him! Ik she wants to try for the isles of the blest but can't she wait for Nico to at least say goodbye to him.
okay I have a lot of feelings about your feelings about this but WHAT IS THIS ZOË NIGHTSHADE SLANDER, SHE AND PERCY HAD THE ABSOLUTE BEST SLOW BURN FRIENDSHIP, IN THIS ESSAY I WILL-
so the pjo fandom dropped off my radar for a couple years and nowadays i'm just kind of creeping in from the outside so can anyone tell me why viria's art is a touchy subject?? i remember her from waaay back when she first started drawing pjo stuff lmao
so basiclly the older offical artist apprently drew more accurate pics whilst viria drew more older hotter people( i have zero probs w that lol) but she hasn't drawn very accurate representation . Dont hate on me for saying this stuff I just read it somewhere the other day lmao , her art is epic
First of all, LOVE that you decorated for percy’s birthday (I bought blue cupcakes). 💙 Second I’m glad I’m not the only one who was waiting for Blitz and Hearth to get together. I was straight ready for them to have a cute moment where they professed their love and I never got it.

I personally saw Tyson as a representation of those with mental disabilitys. In many ways, he is like Lenny from Of Mice and Men. He valued friendship and would do anything for his friends (just like Lenny would for George. He wasn't accepted at first, and Percy was embaressed when Posiedon claimed Tyson (just like Norma was of Charlie in Flowers for Algernon.) Just like Lenny, it was also really chalenging for Tyson to control his strength and he was so misunderstood. Wow, I just made this connection lol- time to move him up in my personal ranks haha
Leo went from being my favorite character to middle tier for me once blood of Olympus came out. The whole calypso plot line turned me off even tho I like her. Leo deserved a better ending plot imo
@@almahamour1110 Nico had a dark phase then remember? He was moody and dark and seemed like he could stab someone, Meg just annoyed Lester which is cool bc Apollo wasn't used to this, he was an arrogant and self centered God who expected people to be nice to him, Meg being annoying isn't that bad, it's what helps Apollo come to terms with reality
The way you had to explain so much as she put Luke into the Favourites category... lol it's fine that'd what I would do too, I mean, Luke was great earlier and he deserves a second chance
This is just my opinion, not me saying that your opinion is wrong or anything, but I personally think Luke was a good character for the storyline and the way that he was built up as seeming so perfect made us confused and shocked when he betrayed the gods/demigods. But on the other hand, I feel like Luke was kinda weird in the Last Olympian where he asks Annabeth if she loved him. There is such a huge age gap between them and I always imagined them to have a brother/sister relationship. Idk I just feel like it would be hard to give him a second chance, after the way he just let Kronos take over him and didn’t really try to fight it until the end when he realized that what he did was wrong.
@@kaylawarner7973 yeah I agree, my opinion on Luke has changed a bit. He sacrificed his life and I like him for that, but the damage he caused is also a lot, to the characters and the camp and a lot of people. I think he could be a great character but he sided with Kronos. Though he did realise his mistakes in the end and that’s a good thing, so it’s a bit confusing TvT
HEY I GOT A BONE TO PICK WITH CHIRON TOO! in sea of monsters, when annabeth is understandably upset because chiron gets fired, he completely dismisses her concerns and just makes a THIRTEEN-YEAR-OLD GIRL swear on the RIVER STYX to protect percy; he doesn't even address her concern that he'll die if he isn't training heroes! she's straight up CRYING because he's like a father figure to him, and all he does is awkwardly pat her on the shoulder, as if he's NEVER comforted her before? how is that possible? anyway yeah that's my view on chiron.
I am in the same boat with the Kane Chronicles. I have recently started rereading them. Honestly my Rick Riordan book tier is Heroes of Olympus, Magnus Chase, Percy Jackson & The Olympians, Kane Chronicles, and Trials of Apollo.
I feel the same way about Jason and Leo. Leo is strictly comedic relief in The Lost Hero, he’s just a straight up asshat in Mark of Athena, he’s not super relevant in The House of Hades, and the fact that he ended up going to Ogygia and was the one who saved and ended up with Calypso when she was already supposed to be free from Ogygia in the first place kinda ruins that whole what-if aspect that made her and Percy’s story so great and emotional. The Reason I don’t really like Jason that much is because I feel like RR tried too hard to have him be an equal to Percy. Percy has a big reputation, and we saw him earn it every step of the way, but with Jason we have to be told about how great he is instead of actually knowing and seeing his greatness. Jason is like a Percy Jackson without the Rebellious Charm, sense of humor, and emotional range which makes Jason just plain. Also that fact that Jason can fly is so ridiculously stupid I don’t even want to talk about it.
You perfectly described how I feel about Jason.😤❤️ not to mention he’s a real flat character I’m a controversial PJO Stan but HoO and especially HoO was well ... a mess. I’d probably end up doing an essay on it but the characterisation felt like Rick was real eager to get back to his other series.
am i remembering correctly of was meg not 10 when we met her not 12 idk i feel like i distinctly remember thinking of her as a 10 year old which would make her immaturity make sense a bit more
I feel like somebody finally UNDERSTANDS how I feel about Leo. I kind of liked his humor because it was similar to Percy's but his inferiority complex is just so annoying. I thought he would grow stronger (mentally/emotionally) in TOA, but his entire appearance was based on his relationship with Calypso. However, Frank on the other side, though he was also kind of annoying with the constant "I think everybody else is better than me." He grew and you can just feel his newfound confidence off the pages.
Okay remember bianca was like 13 and she didn’t just leave nico without knowing if he would be safe I can totally see how and why this choice would be so tempting and I think is she lived we would have seen her be a bit more conflicted with the choice she made. So overall I really like her. Also Luke is one of my favorites like top 3
I liked Bianca but I just wish she would have at least seen the camp before deciding. Not even that it would change her mind, but she just jumped on it SO FAST.
@@jamie.lynn004 that’s fair and while I wish she gave it a little more time it was not entirely her fault basically a goddess told her her brother would be safe and then another girl told her it was the best thing she could ever do and that she would be joining a family. I think any 13 year old orphan would be quick to jump on an offer like that without fully thinking it through.
@@masonguthrie1257 Yeah. It honestly makes me dislike the hunters a little. They basically groomed her, she was young and didn't know anything and was just sick of being a babysitter and they attacked that without any other thought. All they care about is adding more to their numbers.
@@jamie.lynn004 not exactly I actually think they were trying to help I mean that’s what Artemis does so I don’t think there is necessarily a bad guy in this situation.
The think is when people look at Anubis and sadie its always ‘’yeah the age differents’’ then WHY NOT with Leo and calipso?? (I have no idea how to spel het name lol)
NO BUT JASON- JASON ALWAYS SO KIND AND THERE FOR EVERYONE BUT EVERYONE'S INTIMIDATED BY HIM- AND EVERYONE ALWAYS COMPARES HIM TO PERCY LIIKE NAHHH HE'S HIS OWN PORSON-
Hey, is Alex trans or genderfluid, cause I haven't read the books in a long time, but I thought they switched between genders? Did that change or am I getting it wrong?
if you're mad that Anubis has an inappropriately aged love interest, shouldn't you also hold Calypso to the same regard? Her island does have some time-warp capacities...but still...two teenagers?
It's a combination of the age gap and the power dynamic. Basically, Anubis is a god and Calypso isn't, and the divinity of it all is what's more concerning. Anubis seems more like an authority figure who has seen the world and experienced humanity for thousands of years, so he's basically an adult who just decides to present and act like a teenager because he wants to, while Calypso is lesser powered and has been confined to her island for so long that she doesn't have the same life experience and maturity as an adult would, so she's more legitimately "teenaged" in my mind.
You have to go back and read the Kane Chronicles again about Anubis and his teenager mindset. You can’t compare them, remember that Calypso hooked up with Odysseus (a grown man) before, then fell for Percy, a kid then Leo, another kid. I get that it’s all a story but you can’t make an exception for one and not the other.
@@TheRoseLine ...oh, that's also a good point... But then couldn't we question whether her relationship with Odysseus was consensual? I don't remember much about him but wasn't he the guy who killed all his wife's suitors?
@@teresablue2553 Their relationship was consensual. Calypso wanted Odysseus to stay with her on her island forever but he wanted to get home to his wife and child plus his kingdom. Yup, he was no good. His wife Penelope stayed faithful, yet he was sleeping around, with other women, Circe and Calypso. Then when he got home, he did kill all his wife's suitors because they were courting his wife, also because they wanted to take over his kingdom.
Complaining about Anubis getting into a relationship with a teenage girl shouldn't you be complaining about all the gods hooking up with humans at that point.
@@Ana-rf5cu adults with people that are 1000years older to them? I mean age gap is still a thing and I don't see how an 18 year suddenly makes you capable of being with someone of that difference.
people don't give Jason enough credit sometimes, and justify it by saying he has no sense of humor. this isn't even remotely true, Jason just has a unique sense of humor which i guess you can blame on him being an intp. he actually has so much sarcasm but its easy to miss because he doesn't make it obvious. in my book Jason is the goat (along with hazel because she could fold almost everyone apart from Percy and Nico and even that is still debatable)
I agree with your choice of top tier characters but I think personally I’d bump Hazel down to faves and bump up Lester to top tier. But I understand this video was made before that last ToA book.
Head cannon is octavian was bullied and victim of abuse and it caused trauma he didt get the redemption he needed because idk but i think he could have been saved he was powet hungry imo because he wanted to one up his abusers and he had no on his side to steer him right
Viria at one point had an nsfw blog where she posted sexually graphic fan art of the PJO characters, and around the time I made this video people started finding those pictures. The blog has been deleted, but a lot of people were upset that she drew graphic content of underage characters.
@@thelurker1330 No she wasn't. Charles Beckendorf was supposed to be going off to college I think, and she's the same age as him. Clarisse is also supposed to be a little older than Percy and Silena and her are the same age.
Well, Literary Princess, you asked why we care about your opinion and I can answer for myself that it is like talking to someone who likes the same things as you and have them share their opinion so you can compare it to yours... get it?
Bro Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard is SOOO goddam underrated I just love everything about it In order my faves are: 1. Percy Jackson and the Olympians 2. Either Heroes of Olympus or Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard 3. Either Heroes of Olympus or Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard 4. Trials of Apollo 5. Kane Chronicles
Not going to lie, I am a little bothered by that one balloon, I don't have to tell you which one, because you know already(you do not like me? Why so?)
I’m basic like very basic like VERY basic so that’s a warning to what im about to say……My favorite characters is Percy and annabeth yes ik come at me but Percy tops I will die on this hill
I respect your opinions but... you can't do that to Chiron and Leo. For Chiron, do you want him to tell a kid, "Hey, cursed blade is going to reap your soul. Have a nice day." For Leo, he is such an interesting character. He is the smart guy, the funny guy and the guy with traumatic backstory at the same time. Being all 3 at the same time, breaks the troupes associated with each of them. Also people only recognise Annabeth as the smart guy and pass him as the comic relief. He is probably as smart as Annabeth. Also Hephaestus is such an underrated god, I liked one of his son to be a main character. Also he is very much different from the other kids of Hephaestus.
Ah, I hate stigmatising this great video with a little detail, but Alex is gender - fluid, *not* trans. I mean, if this two are kind of the same thing (though I'm 98% sure they're not) tell me, buttt..... Yeah... Great video though, don't get me wrong, keep going 🦄📚🥰
