Honestly I really like all the nid stuff, especially the Neurotyrant but I do also really like the look of the Neurogaunt. The Space Marines certainly look like Space Marines.
Honestly the flamers are the worst models in the whole box. Something about 10 intercessors all with flamethrowers just looks dumb. At least the terminators are actually really cool looking. Quite an accomplishment for space marines
@@ralphiemay8933 I keep telling myself that this is the release where GW finally oversaturated the market for Space Marine kits and I keep being proven wrong.
Mood, love all the new nids even if I'm not the biggest fan of the screamer, the new gaunt types are top tier for me tough ^^ For marines, upscale terminators are nice but the terminator library guy and captain are props the worst models in the box imo And the others are okay just marines, that said I feel its pretty hard to come with something new for marines as they already have so much stuff even without the first born stuff
@@ralphiemay8933I think they'd be cooler in phobos armour, it would make sense as you'd want your flamethrower units to move up the boar quickly, also you could get them a badass face grill design
The Neurotyrant alone literally makes me want to start a whole Nid army. Something about a floating brain with tentacles accompanied by two smaller brains with tentacles is so obscenely cool.
Same, probably the biggest thing that was previously preventing me from going 'nid was that I didn't like any of their HQ choices. Neurotyrant more than solves that problem.
Auspex Tactics is the answer to the question, “How much 40k news and analysis will the community consume?” The answer is a whoooooole lot. Thanks for all you do.
I'm most excited for the sternguard, the way the mixture of the old armour helmet and studded shinplate really brings out more character too the primaris range and closer too their origins.
My biggest complaint with the Barbagaunts is that GW really should have just updated the Biovore kit instead and let them fill that niche. Now, either the Biovores continue to get forgotten, or they get a new model in the next Tyranid release, and we have two new medium shooty units. But besides that, they're a pretty neat sculpt, definitely a cooler shooting than the hiveguard.
@@jakobknudsen6864 why not both tough biovores can be heavy artillery and barb gaunts the moving smaller artillery I do prefer the new gaunts over an updated biovore but an updated biovore be nice tough
They are by far the worst models in the box in my opinion. They just make no sense. Like, they have 3 hoofed limbs, how do they run? Have you ever seen a 3 legged dog run? Not exactly optimal.
I like them. Not a fan of the “instead of updating the older model (biovore) we’ll release a new unit that does almost the same thing” style of design, but that’s current GW for you. The sculpts themselves are maybe my favorites in the whole box.
Yeah, I really liked the sternguard at first until I realized how monotonous their poses are, and how detailed the old kit was... But if they get a multipart kit, it might be a whole different story.
This is my thought process towards the space marines in this box, i'm a black templars player so i'm definitely gonna kitbash these models to make them mine That's why i like the space marine range, yes alot of them are plain but that allows me and others to add our little touches to them to make them unqiue
If you have a friend who likes to 3d print or do it yourself, then I would like to point you towards 3D decals. When I first got a printer, I thought I would be printing units, but printing bits is more fun.
As a Salamander player I am most excited about the Infernus squad and the LT with combi-flamer. Next I am excited the possibility of getting a multi-part plastic kit for new Sternguard.
@@bmontusmc3856 you aren't getting salamander specific rules, but in the marine codex there will be rules for "burninator assault force" or something similar that will give the feel of salamanders. Same as having a mobile bike force and phobos focused force for white scars and raven guard that can still be taken as any other chapter
Infernus Squad - intercessors with flamers. Nothing special. Hellblasters are just a bunch of guys with plasma. This is to be expected Neurogaunts - I actually like the look of these. Nids with faces just look odd to me. This rectifies that. Barbgaunts- they will be kitbashed to look better, no doubt Dreadnought - favorite loadout comes to my second favorite dreadnought pattern. This is an 8/10, those legs look horrible Termagants- much better than the old models. Wanna see what the hormagaunts look like, if they’re even getting updated Phobos Lt - love it. Change out the head and he’s a 9/10. Would be better if the model could actually hold the combi flamer in his hands Sternguard - 5/10. Literally just reposed Primaris Black Templars models with different weapons. Leapers - love em. Terminators - *YES* Winged Prime - a bit basic Gravis Apthecary - don’t like it. Nice mini fridge tho Psychophage - worst one of the bunch. The pose is awful and the model way to reminiscent of yet another ass up bug, that also looks horrible. Only saving grace is the thing munching on an arm Screamer Killer - *YES* Neurotyrant - *YAAAASS*
I really like the Neurotyrant, both the model and the idea. Hive mind was always portrayed as massively psychic in nature, so it makes sense that larger or key broods would be lead by some psyker powerhouse of a unit, instead of brutish looking oversized Warrior beast, like good-old Hive Tyrant. And yeah, Hive Tyrant is a psyker in his own right, but there is nothing screaming "yeah, that is the smartest beast around here" when you look at it. I generally really like the Tyranid stuff presented so far, even the Screamer Killer in all his goofy glory, although I admit that barbgaunts do look a bit awkward standing on 3 legs - still less awkward than goofy tyranid/ork hybrid that biovores are. As for marines - I expressed my general, not positive thoughts on Firstborn being phased out and nothing has changed since that. And I'm not exactly happy about current direction of Primaris, being basically one-weapon overspecialised Eldar Aspect Warriors in Power Armour. It kills the premise of them being a customisable started-friendly army that was the large selling point of Space Marines for... basically decades at this stage.
I think a different color scheme should help with the barbgaunts. The way they have the gun organism painted in a different color sceme than the rest of the model kind of makes it stand out more like a piece of equipment than an integrated symbiote.
I agree the wings folded like that don't look particularly great on the Winged Prime. The Screamer Killer is okay too, at least in the looks department, but eh. I think the best looking unit is probably the Neurotyrant thing. Yup. There we go. I don't agree with everything, but yeah, that's a nice one.
I'm absolutely elated about the Infernus Squad as a Salamanders player but I get why other chapters might not be QUITE as excited for them. Their rule that forces a battleshock test looks bonkers though, I love it!
Really excited about those Terminators. Of course, this won't matter much if/when they all sell out in 20 seconds and we have "not available online" even for individual boxes for 4 months.
My plan is to toss the infernus squad in a land raider redeemer I just threw together with some extra bits and a land raider chassis I had hanging around. It'll be one big Barbeque box. The photos lieutenant is probably my personal favorite sculpt of the whole kit. Got some incursors to run him with.
I love watching your videos and I really appreciate the work and effort you put into each one!!! I do have one question. So I’m just assuming but do you paint your own models and have your own army? If so I would love to see it!!!
The barbgaunts look awkward bcuz the main body as well as the weapon organism are being controlled by the little jelly squid guy (tentacles plugged into the back of the "gaunt" head).
With Guard getting larger squad options it feels like hoards are becoming a thing again while Space Marines feel elite. Vehicles look strong again too. I like all the starter miniatures although of the ones I want I'd prefer multipose kits. I'm still waiting for the new Cadians to get restocked.
22:57- This is the only Tyranid I would like to get. Just to paint and put on a shelf in my house! It looks awesome but I don’t have a Tyranid army. Nor do I plan on making one.
I do hope that if GW has to put out more Lts for us, we'll see more Xenos themed ones. One with Tau sensors attached to his armor, one that has some of the crude armor of the Orkz bolted on etc.
Bro seriously. The hot part of the flamer is the tip! As for the Sternguard... Not sure, the old kit's better. Ah well. I'll have Primaris for my Primaris and keep the old ones for my Firstborn army
I'm a nidz main and am going to (try to) buy this box for the nidz alone, but the terminators are one of the best standard marine models I've seen from GW. Think I might keep the marines, let friends play them so I have something to devour with my nidz, lol
As someone who's only played 40K as a kid way back in 2nd edition, it's good to see my metal Tyranids returning in 10th. 1st army was Blood Angels with a small but hefty (pun intended, sorry) Tyranid force. I may try and get myself the Leviathan box as the nostalgia is strong with this one.
i'm surprised people don't really like the barbgaunts as much, i know the neurotyrant stole the show but the i really like how the gun has kinda taken the gaunt over
Wait why Phobos? Isn't that roster more or less covered? Jump packs in general on the other hand I absolutely agree with, along with a multipart Suppressor kit
Before I even start this video I just wanted to mention something that I have not seen anyone talk about yet! One of the Space Marine models is apparently a part of the Inquisition!?! It has the Inquisition emblem on his gun!!! And from everything I’ve heard from EVERY RU-vidr that mentioned it you don’t rock a emblem if something you are not apart of!!! So if you actually read this and get it out there quick you could be the first one to point it out! I’m going to mention this to maybe a couple more WH channels I watch but since this one is my favorite to get real information I give it to you first!
The infernus squad is just adding bloat to a range The Sternguard would be better with a wide variety of weapons like current sternguard. I do wish Deathwatch will get the option to mix and match weapons...like a kill squad
For the glow effect on the runic armor just use White scar and the recess of the runes and then put some aethermatic blue over it super-simple easy effect and it'll look decent enough from arm's length different color schemes etc white paint some sort of bright contrast that's it super simple
Waiting for Jump Packs, which we now probs won't see until 11th, huh? Well unless they go all in on 10th and have stuff like Vanguard Vets, jump pack bits and some other existing jump pack kits be part of the marine release wave along with the multipart stuff of the box but I heavily doubt that
The gravis apothecary got me thinking. Now that we have OC, he could have a really high value or even ways to perform special actions on objectives. Would be a quite immersive and unique role I think, but might be hard to balance.
10:53 Pretty sad since you know when the new sternguard kit gets released, it’s not gonna have a fraction of the customizability compared to the firstborn sternguard kit
Honestly the Ballistus has an issue of "Trying for nostalgia" in a place where it doesn't make sense. this thing is supposed to be new, so you'd figure a top heavy dreadnaught with no way to self right would be a bad thing if say, it got hit hard. Keeping the arms would be much better, make it Shoulder mounted or on a joint instead. Things the most ineffective boxy turret on legs just because "Muh venerable does it"
i know they wanted to stay true to the original but the screamer killer looks goofy with the head. I would proxy that immediately imo. Rest looks super cool.
I honestly think the Neurogaunts are just in unfortunate colours. Of course the paintjob is amazing from a technical point, but that pink used for the carapace is too much like skin. I saw a version with more classical Tyranid style, having all the carapace distinct from the flesh and it looked so much better. Super cool with the lower jaw and the carapace that blinds them.
About the Infernus squad: As a non-marine player, the whole concept that each weapon option on otherwise identical marines needs its own sculpt is just baffling. Like, I kind of get why it makes financial sense to keep releasing “new” marine kits instead of just giving them all the weapon options in one kit like every other line infantry, but c’mon. At least make them LOOK like different kits then. My battle sisters, celestians and dominions look more distinct, and they are built from one kit.
A fairish summary of my views. The flamers and lieutenant are a miss for me. The lieutenant is too Tyranids looking to fit in my army, and I'm just a fan of 10 Marines with the same weapon (especially a flamer - I don't care how good or bad they are in the game, they fail the cool test).
Im a necron player but I love that new librarian and I hope it replaces the current terminator librarians. It really makes me want to make a dark angels army (my personal favorite space marines) and do some kit bashing with it so it looks like theres lightning coming out of his outstretched hand. I really couldnt care less about tyranids, its not that I dont like them but I guess Im just apathetic about them. That said that screamer killer's head reminds me of Worf from Star trek: next generation
tbh I would prefer if Primaris squads rearrange to a tactical squad instead. Just combine Intercessors, hellblasters, infernus, the Melta Rifles from the eradicators and heavy bolter from sternguard veterans or heavy Intercessors
I wish Leviathan wasn't the de facto Tyranid paint scheme. Any other Hive Fleet would look better. I'm fond of Behemoth and Jormungandr personally, but the Neurotyrant would look smashing in Gorgon green and white.
1:58- Really?!? I thought they looked awesome and it was one of the sets I really wanted! It wasn’t the number 1 on my list. But it’s at least on my list!!!
10:51- theses are the guys I was talking about in my first comment!!! I think it’s the front guy on the left that has it on his gun! I do have a question though! Why do all of these guys in this one unit have different helmets? Like one is “first born”/HH style and the other ones are from different other armies!?! Either way these models are the main reason why I wanted this book………. Well, at least the Spence Marine half!
So I was one of the people who voted 1 for the screamer killer. I didn't vote less than 3 on any other mini. Some context and reasons behind my decision. I love the old early 90s Carnifex, and if I could afford them, I'd play them over the new mini any day. The new one just looks too humanoid, it looks like a guy in a rubber suit. The face looks like the creature from the black lagoon, and it just doesn't look as imposing or bulky enough, it just doesn't give off battering ram to me. Though I obviously can't judge the scale properly until I see one in real life. It's easily one of my least favourite 40k minis released in recent times.
The Tyranid models are great! I'm surprised the SM models didn't get more love, but I have to admit they have never been a sexy army save a few models. Great list though
