perfectlycreated28 Out of curiosity I looked at Ike’s bio. He was born in Rogers Park, grew up in Lakeview, went to high school in the Gold Coast and college in Boston. Hardly neighborhoods known for unique Chicago slang! This video may be funny (sort of) but you know a skit has missed the mark when very few of the phrases are ringing true to locals, even as stereotypes. Tiffany Haddish, however, can do no wrong in my book. Love her.

I grew up in the Northwest side and knew all of these BUT frunchroom... in the Belmont Cragin area. Maybe it's more west than north and has a large hispanic population, maybe your older and grew up in a certain demographic but these certainly aren't new to me.

Interesting. Some Chicago people on here are saying it's actually Chicago Irish slang.

I've lived in Chicago for almost 8 years and I've never heard any of these. I guess I need to get out more. I am aware of 'pop' for soda and 'parking dibs' during the winter.

Only ones I knew were Kickback, Thot and Fin. Mainly because those slangs are used mostly in southside Chicago neighborhoods that are predominantly black and Hispanic.

I thought he was a Wahlberg until I heard the Chicago accent. But actually a lot of LA and Chicago slang are identical, other than the words that sounded really white, like frunchroom.

Kickback is very well known in Australia and New Zealand, but instead of kickback we say kicking back we use it exactly how you guys use it like 'yeah I'm just kicking back with my friends and family' like we're all just chilling hanging out together.
@catholicdad

It's a noun in America. You're talking about a verb (which we have too--"I'm kicking back at the kickback").
