Wait hold on just one minute,I know y'all will not come for my brother, god rest his soul. He did know the song, but Oscar was one of a kind,I told him years ago the people that won't like his playing will be the ones who are either old school,or just can't make their mind think like his when it comes down to his chord structures. Of course he didn't play it the way Richard smallwood would, because he isn't him,he is the late Oscar Phillips III. One of new Orleans finest. And I thank you!!!
The organist is clearly skilled, and I love the chords he played at the very end. It just seemed initially atimes when I had watched this video that there were parts were he was playing what he wanted or what he was feeling or he was going for some sensitive musical-style choice. What I commented on was his choice of a "freestyle" tempo in the beginning behind the singer, but that is one valid way to go for it and I enjoy the whole playing now
Im sitting here trying to find the correct words to use in discribing this young lady... Im having trouble though... Umm... Here we go... SHE.. IS... Umm... FABULOUS?
I AM DONE,,,,,,, She delivered this song like nobodies biii'nezzzzzz @4:25 I need a cup of water @5:05 I need a fan @6:02-6:25 Y'all just come on and put the blanket on me,,,,,,,, I'm done I Love It
All I have to say is that the "Organist" did what God gave him to do and a lot of people who have opinions about his playing should not have tried to destroy him with negative comments or talk about his musical ability! Just because God gave him something different that you could not identify with should not have been an issue! She and the musicians gave "God The Glory"! That's what really happend!
@okebaram i agree with you......but he was just not a good musician or he doesn't really know the song. The drummer was on point. If she had good organist she would sang wings on everyone in that place!!!!loll
@okebaram Again just my opinion...As a true minstrel you have to keep singing, even if you have to tell them to stop playing. Because its not about us. But you have to always B.Y.O.A and not sing on gift alone, because an unskilled, or insensitive musician, or bad sound system can really destroy a song. But if you minister out of the anointing nothing can stand in God's way.
Just my opinion...What's up with the musician? In the beginning he seemed to be on his own tempo, then he seemed to finally get that he should follow with chords as she led. Then she was trying to jazz the end of it, and he didn't even catch that, so she brought the refrain in again to help him hear it. Still Ms. Moseley B.Y.O.A (brought her own anointing) so she carried that song herself. Gloray! LOL!
