Tiger’s Nest Monastery in Bhutan is one of the most famous attractions, and the beauty is mind-blowing!

On Day 19 of our food and travel trip to Bhutan, we dedicated the entire day to trekking to Tiger’s Nest Monastery in Bhutan (Paro Taktsang in Bhutanese Dzongkha), which sits literally on the edge of a cliff. The hike takes about 3 - 4 hours or so, and since I wanted to beat the main crowds, my wife and I left from the hotel quite early to get a head start. It worked out quite well, because we were some of the only people on the trail that early in the morning. The fresh air was amazing. We wound our way along the trail, and soon we could get amazing views of Tiger’s Nest hidden in the clouds and on the side of the cliff.
The trail, although steep, isn’t really dangerous in any parts, as long as you keep your eye on the trail and don’t try to get too close to the edge. At the top of Tiger’s Nest Monastery they don’t allow any photography, so you have to check in your bag. We walked around the monastery for a little while, ate some snacks, and then headed down.
Despite Tiger’s Nest Monastery in Bhutan being one of the most famous attractions and icons of Bhutan, it really is spectacular.
Round-Trip Taxi from Paro to Tiger’s Nest - 1,400 BTN ($20.99)
It’s typically recommended that you visit Tiger’s Nest at the end of your trip to Bhutan so that you acclimatize better to the elevation.
Gangtey Palace Hotel - After returning from Tiger’s Nest, we checked into the classic Gangtey Palace Hotel for our final night in Bhutan!

Food as a reflection of the cultural life of Bhutan came out very well from these videos Mark. Great job done! Food is not just about eating but appreciating the people who cook it and projecting even the place that it belongs to. Thank you for shedding light on the ancient and well preserved Bhutanese culture, food and their tradition...🙏

Inside the monastry it is majestic 🤩🤩I have went there 6 yrs back. It's so peaceful and chilling in there. There is also a underground dark place where they keep donations . A lovely dog was there and a waterfall. All mobile, camera had to be submitted. I went there with my parents❤️

This series is probably not as exciting as other ones when it comes to food but the sights In Bhutan are amazing, especially the hike to the monastery and the people seem very friendly. Yeah Bhutan doesn't have a lot of variety in their cuisine but from watching this series you can see the pride people have when they prepare the food and I think Mark sees that too. For the viewers who comment, you can offer opinions and criticisms but don't be a douche about it. Don't watch this series if you don't want to.

I really enjoyed this entire video. I've learned so much about a country that I didn't know much about until now. Thank you for recording this series. I enjoyed watching you eat everything (even though most of the meals were similar). I think a lot of the viewers where forgetting that you guys visited when it was really cold and they store food up for the winter. When you have limited refrigeration and have to store food up for the winter your variety of options to eat might not be all that long. Even I living in the states practice sustainability. I grow almost all of our veggies, can and dehydrate, and make a lot of things from scratch. It's a life style that everyone should know, understand, and practice. You just never know when you might not be able to run out to a grocery store or a restaurant for your next meal. Everyone in Bhutan were very friendly. I especially enjoyed the parts when ya'll stayed in the farm stays. It was fun and interesting to see the different homes, how they grew and preserved their foods, and your rooms. There is nothing better than a home cooked meal. Beats any restaurant meal in my opinion. Thanks again for the great series!! I really enjoyed it. I hope this series humbled people and I hope your viewers took more from this than just eating. It's way more than that.

Absolutely, Gorgeous there! The trek to Tiger's Nest and the Monastery itself extremely beautiful! I have just loved these videos just for the views of the countryside and getting a glimpse of how these seemingly humble people live. They don't have much and they give their all. It was all very refreshing to me. Thank you for sharing these.

Yes, the food is a little repetitive and simple, but there is much positive to observe about it. First, it looks very fresh and healthy. Second, Bhutan has apparently not been bombarded by imported industrial food products. It appears that Bhutan is very expensive and while dismaying to the backpackers, I actually like to see that. That means some real benefit may be trickling down to the common folk. Though a closed and repressive society, it appears that the general population enjoys a clean, healthy and well organized environment, with substantial material benefits. The natural beauty is remarkable. While the folks are not necessarily doing back flips of joy they seem content. A well done series by Mark. I think he has been faithful to his subject matter. For those who want more spectacular dishes ... wait until he visits Greenland to explore the many ways seal and whale blubber can be prepared. Then you can truly groan.

What impacts me through this video is that I'm an English teacher in Korea, but mostly what we are exposed to is academic English rather than everyday English because we never speak English in Korea, so this video is going to teach me a lot of real English, which I have acquired a lot as I follow you. I'm in love with you, Mark. I expect to sharpen my colloquial English with your help, which is more meaningful to me as an English teacher. I really appreciate this site. I am now your huge fan until I have become like a native speaker. Thank you so much, Mark. ^ㅡ^ I'm Tony Joo, by the way.

I really did want to applaud you and Ying for all your hard work and amazing, inspiring content. I really, truly hope that the people on here complaining about the series haven't been getting to you - because just like all your other series this was very interesting, thought provoking and well preserved. I truly believe that the thing to blame here is the ease with which people can complain about just about anything these days. Wow! Thanks for sharing. Love Your videos. IMHO this was the best trip ever! How could one not want to visit a country where its focus is happiness and kindness is practically a legal requirement?

It's a simple life in a landlocked mountainous country. Of course the weather is cold and the food is simple. Not sure why people have high expectation in this series. To me the food looks good and the mountain views are stunning.

วิวสวยมากคับอยากไปเที่ยวจัง อาหารที่นี่ก็อร่อยเขากินพริกกันเป็นประเพณีคับ And the people here are very kind. He accepts a very good reception. I have never been to the people he went to tell. His food is very tasty as it is good for health. Thank you very much for presenting good things.

You have enthusiasm that is infectuous. The film coverage is so well done. The black four legged guide escorted you two up and down the hike by choice, clearly an advanced soul who enjoyed an outing and sought to watch over your safe passage.
