I remember there being a Tales Of The Rays collab for Tiger & Bunny. Tales Of The Rays may be a mobile game shut down on Global Servers, but the Japanese one is still running. And Tales Of The Rays does live up to the promise of being a console quality title for the series given that basic exploration and the trademark battle system you see in console Tales games is there too. The collab was pretty cool with the main duo being the collab characters joining and 3 costumes for Origami Cyclone, Blue Rose, and Sky High are respectively given to Tales Of Destiny 2's protag Kyle Dunamis, Celsius from Tales Of Eternia, and Tales Of Xillia 2's major antag Victor.
I like to describe T&G as "BNHA for adults" Not because it's inappropriate for younger audiences or anything, it's just a lot more mature and realistic. (this is not a jab at BNHA btw, I love them both)
Tiger and Bunny's charm comes from the fact being a super hero is a job for them. They have normal lives, and they have relatively normal friendships. Glad to see you talk about tiger and bunny. Its one of my favorites and more people totally need to see it. Tiger and Bunny over and out!
I really love the series when I first watched it. While I do think the second season should have focused more on Lunatic, I love how the series branched out a lot of the characters personalities within the series. Hell, even the side characters! It made it more raw and interesting to see how the characters tackled a lot of challenges and such. It’s a really good superhero series.
I felt the the second series did a horrible job with the original side characters. Most of the first series characters were left in the dust and either forgotten or tossed to the side. The few buddy episodes didn't expand on the characters in any new or impactful ways, Rose's love story was unceremoniously ended, Ben and Saito were barely present, the CEO was barely present, the Hero TV crew lost all personality, and Emblem was barely a blip on the radar (his role in the story was essentially replaced with Ryan: the leading voice for the heroes not named Tiger or Bunny as well as Rose's confidant). The end of Lunatic's story was great but I feel they kinda jumped right into it, weak beginning strong end. He needed more focus. T&B was not really built on plot but instead strong characters and their interactions, and I felt that lacked in series 2.
I love this show! Each of the major plot twists and how they develop and are revealed are so interesting! I'd love to hear your honest thoughts about the spoilers of the first season! also, I aM NoT a BuNnY!
Tiger and Bunny is my comfort anime, up there with Ghost In A Shell. If there isn't any good new stuff to watch or I'm just feeling like watching, I'll rewatch the whole thing in a week. I'm happy more people are picking it up and giving it a chance. Hoping Netflux drops part 2 of season 2 and green lights a third season since the format allows for more stories to be told as new heros come up the ranks.
I'm not a bunny! I ended up binging the first season of this series a few years ago. I actually never considered some of the points that you brought up, like some of the more down-to-earth moments giving more relatable aspects to the characters. I mostly just enjoyed it for a solid plot and characters. Still wish Kotetsu got a bit more respect during the first season...I've noticed I tend to hate the Butt-Monkey trope any time it shows up in anime, and Kotetsu gets hit pretty hard with it, initially.
Honestly, I get your view point and I too fell in love with these characters even though I don't watch many superhero type of anime shows. Plus this let's us see that heroes have a life outside of being a hero to the public.
I remember watching T&B not long after it came out. As much as I tried to not compare T&B and MCU I often felt Marvel movies felt flat when put next to T&B. Heroes being treated like strange mix between athletes, models and celebrities was so novel and fascinating idea. I wish there was more media that took more down to earth take on being superhero.
Koteteu mocking bunny: "I'm a Bunny" Hopefully there's another video of this series and I'm surprised on how old it is but i enjoy the story more then some super hero animes not going to say what anime
"I'M NOT A BUNNY, I'M A BARNABY!" I adore this show. First watched it about 5 years ago and I remembered enjoying it. But it wasn't until I recently rewatched it in preparation for Season 2 that I recognised just how great it is. Great video dude - would love to see another!
It's been a really long time since I've watched T&G. The only things I remember are that I liked it and that I shipped Kotetsu and Barnaby really hard. I mean, can you blame me? The entire show is about their bromance.
@@wardrobewings8000 There are like 6 or 7 official Kotetsu and Barnaby themed matching wedding rings now, lol. They just keep adding more! The creators also said, way back in the day during the first season's run in 2011 at ComicCon, that any way a viewer chooses to view their relationship is correct (romantic, platonic, familial, etc.). It will be interesting to see if this changes with the second season, and how they will handle their relationship in the live action (Hollywood/American) TV show that is in the works.
Finally someone talks about this show again. And i didn't even know there was a second season. Fuck aot, this is the biggest devide between series. And tiger and bunny had a movie. I had given up hope. Fuck yes, this show is awesome
Personally I don’t mind if you stay negative or want to go positive, you make some great and entertaining content that i like. And I’m glad you’re talking about this series, always liked it
I loved Tiger and Bunny! I wantched the first season a few years back, great recommendation. I really liked the way the characters use their powers, how Force Field guy shoots tiny forcefields super fast to make it look like laser blasters. How Memory Control Guy just makes everybody forget about the crimes he did. I just love these powers.
OMG I JUST FINISHED WATCHING THIS SHOW TWO DAYS AGO. It's so good I watched both 2 seasons in 5 days. If any of you are bored and want to watch a superhero anime with great worldbuilding and characters/character dynamics, I heavily recommend this series!
I only recently watched through both seasons and became a huge fan of the show, so it would be really cool to see more about Tiger and Bunny on your channel!
LOVED THIS VIDEO!!! if it's okay to add, nathan's gender can be interpreted as being nonbinary! in the movie (rising) theyre meant to be shown going through gender identity when showing their backstory and comment about being neither man or woman "so what does that mean for people who are both? we are invincible!" also in the og japanese text, they use I/me pronouns (watashi being gender neutral and informal feminine atashi (informal feminine) i watched the english dub and i dont think it translated fully but i just love to talk about how diverse tiger&bunny is for having a black nonbinary hero in 2011!
An absolutely excellent video on a show that I originally dismissed based on the silly title, but you showed how good it is, would love to see you do more videos on it in the future, but for now: TIGER AND BUNNY, OVER AND OUT!
You said everything I could ever want to say about why this show is unmatched in quality. I would love to hear your thoughts on the complete series now that season 2 has been released and both movies are out. and also: "Tiger and Bunny, over and out!"
"TIGER AND BUNNY; OVER AND OUT!". I watched the show and movie this year and loved it. Might I recommend the manga Rat man that does the sponsored hero thing but from a "villain" perspective.
As someone who loves the dynamic in Kamen Rider W, the dynamic between Kotetsu and Barnaby in Tiger & Bunny felt similar, yet different. They also did a great job on building their relationship, while still keeping the dynamic.
Its been a year, i found this video after watching the show because when i find something i love i want to hear others praise it too, this video had given me a greater love for this obscure series and id love a second one please
I remember watching this show about 6 years ago or so? It was an enjoyable ride, watched season 1 dubbed and season 2 subbed. It's another one of the few shows with a good English dub.
I binged this series in one night a year or so back and I'm so happy that it is getting more reviews and recognition! I'm notoriously bad at finishing shows, even shows I like. But Tiger and Bunny really kept me hooked since Day 1. I would love to see you go more in depth into season 1 and even season 2! TIGER AND BUNNY, OVER AND OUT!
I will say I want to watch this show for a while and me wanting to watch this video have me the motivation to watch it and I am so glad that I did. Thanks for the great content. “TIGER AND BUNNY, OVER AND OUT!”
The collab was pretty cool with the main duo being the collab characters joining and 3 costumes for Origami Cyclone, Blue Rose, and Sky High are respectively given to Tales Of Destiny 2's protag Kyle Dunamis, Celsius from Tales Of Eternia, and Tales Of Xillia 2's major antag Victor.
i'm really happy my childhood anime got reviewed so highly appreciated and to anyone who has reads i highly recommeded S1, movie and the new S2. Thanks for the quality video and can't wait for the zexual and Arc -V video .
even after watching the anime a long time ago and the new season recently, i recently found out that there were mangas; one following the first half of the initial story while polishing and fleshing out the world and character, one that is just a bunch of one chapter short stories that also flesh out the characters and most recently, one that follows in the events before season two with the newest heroes i find them entertaining also, i'm not a bunny
THANK YOU!!! The sponsorships really are a big part of the show and hate they removed them for the first season. It really does loses something in the show without them. All the characters are great and feel very organic with either their interpersonal relationships with each other or like you mention how diverse they are. It isn't shoved in your face and they come across as people you can relate to. The only disappointment I have with your video and I know you were focusing on the heroes mainly is just how interesting a character Lunatic is. Not mentioning spoilers here but man his backstory hits hard and love his ideal of justice conflicting with Kotetsu's.
Glad you're doing a video on a little talked about anime. I hope the second season isn't a disappointment and I'm dreading a live action version being planned
Would love to see more about Tiger and Bunny. I think the show could even be a bit darker sometimes. Villians like Jake were a bit boring but I think that was ok cause he was (spoiler) not much more than just a red herring. The main focus is the character interaction and it was cool to see that charactere´s talks a lot about their problems. But it feels the show doesn´t exhaust its full potential. I like Barnaby the most time but in the second half of the first season he feels more than a tearjerker and lee like the intelligent youngstar from the beginning. I mean he couldn´t even figure out by himself what the superpower of the stalker was for example. All in all I think there is so much more to expand on the characters but season two was so far a bit underwhelming. One of my personal favourites is Sky High. When I first saw him I was sure he would be perfect on the outside but an arrogant asshole on the inside. But no. He´s just a very nice guy who doesn´t want to disappoint people and had some communication issues cause he isn´t always the smartest. I thing that was very refreshing and sympathic.
I really love the dynamics of the characters on this show! Banger musics as well. When the 2nd season came out and i go watch it i was suddenly flushed by the waves of nostalgia and i deadass cried.
Even though I couldn't be on for the premiere, I kind of was glad to see this covered. Although I don't mind the lack of branding in the Netflix version (think I had heard of that being a version available, but thought that was that the anime and OVA Film versions had different contracts or something), it does really feel like the designs are lacking stuff, eapecially when Blue Rose is complimented well with the Pepsi branding. Other than that, I was enjoying this show a lot when trying to binge it, and yeah...the cast is pretty good, especially old man Kotetsu; heck, I'd say he's the reason why I kind of enjoyed the show a lot. Good stuff...also, I'm not a bunny!
This anime is most likely in the "best animes I've ever watched" list. The worldbuilding is so great, nothing is retconned (well, unless we talk about Tiger's power falling down to 1 minute, since the heroes never really spoke about that, except that small part in season 1). The friendship dynamic between Kotetsu and Barnaby is amazing. The villains? chef kiss. Lunatic? still wondering why he didnt appear in the battle against the uroboros brothers, but other than that? he's great. I remember going to the second season being a bit scared because of how many heroes there were now, but even netflix pulled this part amazingly well, and the fact that they added the sponsors back is even better. I hope the 2nd part of tiger and bunny 2 will be even more about uroboros and the disappearance of tiger's powers (probably with the power serum) the first time i loved the way that netflix pulled the 2nd season. Tl;dr I love the anime Tiger and Bunny, Over and out!
I am not a bunny Tiger and Bunny is my favorite anime. It just hits all the right notes to me. Especially with the characters. Kotetsu is the best. So seeing more people talk about this underrated gem is always great. Also I've watched season 2 on Netflix and they did actually keep the advertisements. What I did like about season 2 is that the reason it took so long to get made was that they wanted to make sure they got everyone who worked on the original show back. And when watching season 2 it honestly feels like the show never left. It still feels like the same show from 2011. In a good way. TIGER AND BUNNY, OVER AND OUT!
First, we need the rest of Season 2. Only the first cour of Season 2 came out, the rest (Ep. 14 - 25) will come out later (production on the second cour has wrapped up, so it hopefully won't be too soon of a wait!). I really want a Season Three after that though!).
I remember going to anime Boston & learning about Tiger & Bunny & buying the Blu Ray for the first season part 1 & loving it. During that time Attack on Titan was starting to get real popular too. Tiger & Bunny honestly has a lot of heart to it. People I have talked to about the anime have easily dismissed it because of the name. Let’s hope there is a Season 3 to continue this wonderful series.
I don't believed this is talked about as much, but boi Tiger and Bunny 2 still continues to be a great anime as a sequel is really exciting for me. I might not have been waiting for the sequel for 11 years but God I remembered watching the first seasons as a teen and while watching the second season I can feel that inner teen burst into joy. The second season doesn't receive as much hype except in the fanbase itself so its really nice to see people talk more about Tiger and Bunny this year. A great video as always though! Btw I'm not a bunny!
Man imagine if Netflix streamed video games and they removed the Gladio Cup Noodle cutscene from FFXV. It didn't need to be there but everyone loved the absurdity of it and it as such would be a great loss of great comedy.
I AM A BUNNY! Honestly, it has been a while since I have watched tiger and bunny. but after this, I might give it a another watch. Also, would love to see another video on the show
I’ve always thought of T&B as what BNHA could have been if it was actually willing to explore any of the interesting commentary that it hints at. T&B has so many interesting things to say, and it doesn’t shy away from discussing any of them. It’s full of interesting political and social commentary that’s always handled with a lot of tact, maybe more so than I generally expect from anime or superhero media.
I would say that MHA does explore interesting commentary but it in a different way. It exposes more of the themes of what a hero should be and seeing the journey it takes to become a hero.
I remember Tiger and Bunny from Fresh Man Year, they had all the manga in the library and I binge read them all, they I found the Anime on Netflix but it was only the first season and I immediately saw all the differences they made like removing the Sand guy
While My Hero Academia is more popular, to me Tiger & Bunny does trump it in a number of ways: 1. Like the video said Characters. Its not a super hero anime, its a character driven story that's about people who are Super Heroes, e.g. one of my favorite episode is about Sky High, after ****** he becomes depressed & needs to get his confidants back. 2. Mangakamen didn't go to much into the sponsors, but they play a big role in the story (unlike MHA where its barely touched on). Its the reason Tiger & Bunny were placed together in the first place because of the sponsors. Another e.g. is how when we first see Wild Tiger on Hero TV he's given an order to wait to save the day until after the ad break (which of course he doesn't wait). 3. While Deku & Tiger are similar in a lot of ways (you might even say Tiger is a older version of Deku) Tiger isn't a "chosen one" or the one to defeat the final villian, he's the dad of the group the one the others go to for advice which is a cool twist on a MC to me. etc....
The sponsor are barely touch about in MHA because there are none. Every hero is more or less their own “sponsor.” And in MHA, the idea is more that heroes should be heroes solely to help people while in Tiger and Bunny, it is to help people while getting popular. They never criticize in-depth that heroes should not be for profit in the vein of MHA. And I would not say that Deku is a “chosen one” but that he was the one that is chosen. This means that he obtains power due to who Deku is at his core and not a predestined path he was always going to take.
It's a shame netflix cut the sub-core of what built T&B's lore out. Yet, considering its dipping revenue maybe idk the fee for logo placement In movies etc, but I thought It was always a net positive for the films etc. The Sonic movie being one of them with story integration to It. Overall, you hit the heart of this series. I might check S2 out as well at a later time to see continued story since I loved how the series very much.
