Impressive to watch Tiger on video. However, I was really impressed to watch him hit a perfect 3W to the green on a par 5, standing relatively close to him with no one around (as a marshal). That sound of his fluid swing and contact is amazing.

Final round of 2018 PGA at Bellerive was incredible. If his driver or putter would've cooperated even a tiny smidge, he would've won. I still want to see this 280 yard 3 wood up hill into a cross wind he hit at the rider cup one year. Tiger was on a comeback and hadn't played close to his best yet, but he hit a high cut into the wind, where it had to cut into the wind plus land on the fringe to stop. He did both, and the hole location was just off the left edge of the fringe. One of the hardest shots I've ever seen attempted and Tiger put it on the money.

@jamesnoonan9302
@jamesnoonan9302 2 года назад
@@jeffreygreer There's no way. Look at Tigers short game and putting. There's no one who touches it in any era. Then look at his recovery game and shot making. If you took one year of Tigers career, and showed the great recovery shots he hit, it would be better than any other golfer over a career. He also hits Irons clutch. I don't think Jack in his prime could stare down Tiger in his prime. Jack doesn't hit as good of Irons as Tiger does when it's clutch time. Tiger comes out ahead for me. Who cares if they're playing with wooden clubs or anything else. Tiger can bounce a ball in the air and then hit it straight out of the air if he wants. He has the best hand-eye coordination and would likely benefit if the clubs were less forgiving. He's the only player on tour who even uses blades still (which is the very least forgiving of all irons). Also Tiger is much stronger than Jack so what he can do out of the rough would dominate Jack.

Nicklaus is the best ever, Tiger had the best decade from 1997 to 2008 he won 14 of his 15 majors. Jack won majors for 26 years and was competitive finishing second 19 times. Tiger basically dropped off the map in majors for 11 years after he got caught cheating on his wife. You give Tiger old Persimmon woods with the sweet spot the size of a nut, steel shaft irons, one standard wedge, without square grooves, and MacGregor balls and let's see the terrific shots he hits. Jack drove the ball much straighter than Tiger, who can't keep the ball in the fairway with a sweet spot the size of the Grand Canyon. Jack drove the ball 300 yards straight with the old equipment. Tiger is great but Jack is the best.

You could make a similar video of astonishing highlights of Nicklaus, and several others. Jack has 18 Major tournament wins, but overlooked is that he finished second 19 times, third 9 times, against the likes of Player, Palmer, Trevino, Watson, Casper, Snead, etc. Jack could drive as far with lesser equipment, and short game and putt w/ the very best. He’s lived an honorable life and deserves more recognition. Tiger’s life consists of deception, adultery, privilege, temper tantrums on the course, immense monetary gain from endorsements, and caught driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs several times, yet didn’t lose his license. Non celebrities don’t enjoy that concession. He was most recently speeding 85 in a 45 mph residential zone, incredibly dangerous to others. Strangely, he was not even substance- tested at the time, something that is ALWYS done in significant one-vehicle accidents, especially, with his history. He’s a supremely privileged athlete with global endorsements, who’s chased Jack since childhood. Nicklaus always said, that “if I knew Tiger was coming I’d have tried harder.” That said, Jack’s 18-19-9 finishes is unarguable.Tiger was a great player, but a privileged one who benefitted from his father starting him in toddlerhood, and his ancestral backgrounds worked perpetually by media and sponsors. He’s lucky to have not injured anyone during his MV experiences, otherwise he’d be in prison rather than heading to Augusta. A very lucky man…

Tiger had all the physical tools which may qualify him as the greatest shot shaper of all time. However, he also had other tools with which to work with that Jack never did. Perhaps more than any other sport, golf was changed more by the advancement of equipment technology than any human physical developments from woods to irons to balls and possibly putters as well. We'll never know what Tiger could or couldn't have done with Jack's sticks and vice versa. So, the only fair way to compare Nicklaus and Woods simply isn't possible.

This is tired argument. If you seen both play, don't have any built in bias & actually play the game (decently) there is no comparison, Tiger is the G.O.A.T..

Tiger's main competition, Phil, could have given all of them at least a stroke a hole if playing against them in their prime. Jack=GOAT.

@@mikegrebe536 you're one of those old geezers who use the same exact tired weak argument. the fact you led with Ben Hogan & Sam Snead, means you don't know jack shiitt about the gane, and the rest of your drivel is meaningless. Tiger played in an era where everyone had the best equipment, all had elite teachers and were flying to events, not driving to them like 75% of the players in Jack's era. I love Jack, I'm not putting him down. Nobody has ever played the game at such a high level that Tiger was at in his prime. He was winning tournaments at almost a 50% rate for a 4 yr period playing in only the top events.

@@CSpad The fact that I led with the names with Ben Hogan and Sam Snead means I do know Jack Shitt about the game, far more than you. That list has 77 majors among it. Tiger never faced that kind of competition. You probably never saw Jack play, i did, in person, in Jack's prime, 1965 and 1975. I saw Tiger in person in 2003. Tiger had the game no doubt. Jack had the mental game. Jack simply never made a mistake. Jack hit driver better, Jack was longer and straighter taking equipment into things. Jack was as good a putter as Tiger on his best day. Ben Hogan, a man that knew more about golf than anyone ever summed up Jack after the last round of the 1960 U S. Open. "I just played with a kid that would have won this thing by 10 strokes if he had any brains." That was a 20 year old Jack Nicklaus who came in second to Arnold Palmer and found plenty of brains the next couple of years. Try again duffer. Jack= GOAT.

Jack won 18 majors finished 2nd 19 times. Tiger’s record in majors isn’t close to that. All the while Nicklaus would Fly home to watch his kids sporting events while Tiger flew to the closest Hotel to meet with his newest liaison. Skill wise, Tiger is the best, but not as a human being. Most of the people commenting here never saw Nicklaus play in person, much less the wooden woods and old blades and balata balls that would develop a cut in them if you looked at them wrong. By the way Arnold Palmer is the MOST POPULAR PLAYER of all time, not the greatest, not the winningest, but is responsible for sports management with Mark McCormack(on a handshake that lasted for 60 years), the popularity of golf on TV, the rejuvenation of The Open, and was one of the most recognizable people in the world. He paved the way for everybody else!

Not sure why you want to throw stones at Tiger. Truth is Tigers record is actually pretty close and regardless of his record he is one of the best to ever play the game. Yes we always see Jack and Arnolds names up there at the top and for good reason, they too are a couple of the greatest to play the game. Let us not forget about the others who played and dominated in the sport. Sam Snead, not just a great golfer in his time but also a WWI veteran. Ben Hogan, quite a few wins and and Army veteran. How about Tom Watson? Another great who is still out there. Tiger Woods might never beat Jacks record and that is ok. It has nothing to do with his personal life or drama off the course. Actually the media should learn to let people have their personal lives. Comparing balls and clubs is pointless, every player on the course used the same balls and clubs or had the opportunity to use the best during that time. I started out using wooded woods as a child I got from my Uncle. At the time they were the best, today they are antique and my TaylorMade driver puts that old wooden driver to shame. But back then it is what everyone else had so it was a fair game. Lots of great golfers out there, Jason Day, Rory, Dustin, Jordan, Phil..... The list goes on. None of them are perfect. Point is Tiger is and will always be in the top 5 of Golfers and he earned that.

@@johncollier9354 Not throwing stones at Tiger. Just tired of the modern press, who have never seen Jack play, annoint Tiger as the greatest player ever when, in reality, as I stated previously in the Majors, Jack’s is far superior. Tiger’s short game is far superior to Jack’s as is his art of hitting escape shots. Don’t misunderstand me, Tiger has been my favorite golfer for years and his skills are exceeded by none, but he is not the greatest golfer of all time. That title belongs to Mr Nicklaus, until at such time someone breaks his Major Record of 18 victories.

@@AlmightyBeezy You’re right. Tiger was dominant against the inferior class of his opponents. Just look at the number of majors won by Player, Watson, Trevino vs Michelson, Els etc. Comparing the level of competition is a joke to say nothing of the fact that Nicklaus accomplished his career while raising a family and actually making that his number 1 priority. Tiger probably has more skills as a golfer but Jack has way more skills as a human being!

At their respective peaks, Tiger was better. Nicklaus is the Babe Ruth of golf, but there was always something mythical about Tiger. Something electric. He’s the Roy Hobbs of golf. In his prime, you could almost hear the distant echo of thunder rumbling when he had the lead on Sunday. Best golfer that ever walked planet earth.
