@@Michael-uu7zq Not exactly. They are checking the pitchers every inning nowadays, and they don't get the benefit of the doubt. He had rosin and sweat on his glove hand, and got a brief suspension. He has not had anything there before or since that one incident. If he had, that would have been "caught" as well.

it's funny how the tigers exploded for 10+ runs Saturday and today couldn't get any hits or score runs early to have a chance. sometimes it's best not to use your best outburst because the following day you run into a really good pitcher.

That's not the reason. What Espada did was protective; the Astros staff has had many injuries; you don't want to exhaust your best starter. What's killing baseball is the owners' idiotic ending of free broadcast TV for the at least the playoffs and the World Series.
