This might sound crazy, but I was running a solid flat-tappet cam in a Chevy 3.4 V6. The engine had other mods, as well. I used lifters with the oiling hole in the face of the lifter. That was a fun build.
Richard, have you ever heard of the Bud Moore mini plenum? I saw one online the other day and it made me think of the discussion that you were having about using a fual plenum with efi. I argued that the difference in flow between the upper and lower plenums and bad cylinder distribution was a deal breaker. This intake solves that by making both sides symmetrical.
