I understand you Linda. I am former German Naval Soldier and my daughter actually serves as the fifth generation of my family at naval Service. But I remember like it was yesterday as I came home and she saw me I can't say who of us two cried more that moment. My 7 years old daughter (that time) or me. She's actually on her first deployment. I can't wait until she returns (Jan. 30th2020) after 5 Months.

@@alexelgreco76 I Skype with her every day. The Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces) is very liberal with the usage of Skype during deployment. They have strict rules about what soldiers are forbidden to talk about. But if they call their family while they have Time off is no problem. I know she's a little bit injured but nothing serious. She only has a small cut (little accident with a knife). I am so proud of her.

The main idea of being a Servicemember is to execute, and as you develop you begin to issue order based off of your orders. Ultimately, it's what's called Mission Command (ADP 6-0) and is the foundation of it all. Are some deaths just and right? No. Was the mission to cause those deaths? No. Was the mission executed? Yes. Unfortunately there were other casualties but in the end, we do everything we can to prevent them from happening and truthfully it happens less frequently now than ever before.

But so much of it is confidential, so civilians won’t know much about it. Soldiers are actually way more informed of real world news than almost all civilians...because they get the news first or second hand, not 100th hand

My brother and I were close when we were young. He married a women that made my brother push away from the family. In his 60's my brother had a stoke so I would go over to visit and help him with things. He died two years later. I'm grateful for those two years when we could spend a little time together. It's never too late to be there for each other.
