I've been told I look special needs, asked where tf I'm looking, ignored right to my face because people are freaked out by it, called diseased. Everything you can possibly think of about strabismus (lazy eye) I've been called it. If my eyes weren't like this, I'd be considered beautiful. But I'm just simply not. Not to mention my depth perception is nearly non existent. I can still walk but driving is a whole different thing, while driving around a curve in the road, the lane on the inner part of the curve looks like it's closing off until I get all the way around the curve. I am terrified to drive. For most of my life I was terrified to make eye contact and any time I did I was made fun of. Viciously. And by full grown adults as well. At this point I want to wear an eye patch everywhere I go so instead of being the cross-eyed girl, I can be the eye patch girl. Be careful what you wish for. It's crippling.

About the 'compliment and the next day pretty much bad luck'; In Philippines there is actually many incidents of these that whenever i.e someone compliments your appearance and the next few days you gradually notice you're kind of unattractive. It's actually because that person's compliment/s were ungenuine. When they say your teeth 'are so perfect', or they 'wish I had teeth as nice as yours', they, sadly, think otherwise. And how us, the people who are aware, tend to avoid the consequences is that we casually chant the word "Buyag" or "Purya Buyag". Now I'm not the best at explaining what it means, for I naively don't understand my own native language, but it's basically a saying to avoid the outcome of what might happen (Because unfortunately, the effects can also stay for the rest of your life (basically permanent), believe it or not) I've been informed about this when my friend told me about the time a stranger complimented her cousin's (less than 5 I think?) soft skin, and before long some dark spots started to show themselves around her body. Where I'm from, its called malju. It's not necessarily about jealously or evil intent, it could be, but it's also about desire. Wanting what you don't have. Creates a sickness in the person being stared at. For us, it leads to people becoming sick (usually with their stomach), or injured or food and drinks being spilled or dropped, depending on whether it's the person or their food/drink.
