Fun interview, mahalo folks! Walt Disney coined the term "Edutainment", to entertain and educate park guests through story. Disney tiki is the "Gateway Drug" to tiki for collectors then - and now. The original Tiki Room celebrated it's 56th anniversary June 23, 2019. It has inspired others in Florida and Tokyo. Disney has continued to develop story, intersecting all things tiki, Jungle Cruise, Polynesian Resort in Florida, Adventurer's Club, Trader Sam's, and most recently The Disneyland Tropical Hideaway, built atop the heiau of the long-closed and beloved Tahitian Terrace restaurant. All of these attractions have Disney tiki mugs. Each September/October Trader Sam's comes out with a new "Mahaloween" mug, based off yet more of the Disney tiki DNA. Fans, such as Tiki Tony have been envolved with both Tiki Day and Adventureland Day events where literally hundreds show up, dressed in their finest tiki/adventure attire. Fans have also developed Disney tiki mug Facebook groups. Check out Trader Sams Mug Traders (California-centric) and Trader Sam's Coast to Coast (Florida-centric). ALSO -Each Trader Sam's has their own unique mugs, different designs/colors/glazes at each location. With some 50+ some mugs, it's hard to collect 'em all. Aloha and Kongaloosh!

Being just 2 hours from Disney world, I may just be forced to go some day just for the historical significance...awesome stuff though, with RUM...!!!
