I bought a new Tikka T3X in 243Win for my 70th birthday and got the ASPIRE. Most new Tikka's are now threaded. All your mods are a good idea and which I have done to mine as well and more. All these bits can be purchased from "High Velocity Hunting" in AUSTRALIA. Additional mods I made are flush mounted sling mounts on the side of the stock. Front sling mount removed and replaced with a small Picatinny Rail for a QD lite weight bipod. The trigger got changed to a two stage Timney trigger, then later to a Sako set trigger. The Timney went to my Tikka T1X in 22Lr. One mistake you made!!! The new bottom metal trigger guard (in metal) is torqued to 62 in-lbs (7 NM)

I picked up a t3x new an replaced plastic bottom to the atlas bottom metal as well as the long bolt stop an put the rifle in a bell&carlson stock made the rifle a complete different rifle. The long stop used for a short action calibre is simply to allow seating bullets out as needed with out concern for mag length works perfectly.

I'd add: swap out the recoil pad to a LimbSaver.

made a world of a difference on my .270. my girlfriend tried it once fresh out of the box and wouldn’t touch it after that. with the limbsaver she could shoot a box in one session. for $60 cad it’s a nice investment

I visited with a Tikka rep about the steel lug "upgrade". The rep asked me why aluminum was more expensive than steel and why do I suppose they switched to a less expensive option. It turns out that aluminum actually works better for accuracy however, due to consumer demands Tikka switched to a steel lug but only to satisfy consumers who were demanding the less expensive option. Why consumers believe there smarter than the people who build Tikka rifles remains a mystery

Ummm....because people saw issues with the soft aluminum lugs getting beat up with magnum level recoil. It's easy to tell who shoots and who doesn't.

I've purchased 16 Tikka rifles in the last year. Every single one of them has a new lighter trigger spring. $8 from Anarchy Outdoors. No need to replace the trigger at all. The factory Tikka triggers are the best I've experienced and I've been fortunate to own over 50 rifles, factory and full custom. That's the first upgrade I recommend. All of my triggers are now just over 1 pound, which is perfect for me Second most important upgrade is changing out the recoil pad with a limbsaver. I decided to keep the factory polymer bottoms and mags simply because they are light weight. Wouldn't mind the aluminum replacements but I've personally not found the need yet I did convert my first tikka. It's a 308. Now has a Brux barrel and AG Composite stock and is cerakoted. I also recently completed my second conversion. New stainless T3x Lite 300WM donor rifle, now a 7PRC. Bought a Stocky's stock inletted for the Proof CF barrel. Also bought the barrel at year end sale from Stocky's stocks as well. The year end price on the stock was $350 and the pre-fit Tikka Proof carbon barrel was $751. It's 24" threaded muzzle 5/8-24. I paid my gunsmith $50 to change out barrels. I swapped the stock and went shooting. 1/2" groups out of the gate with factory Federal 175 ELDX, Hornady ELDX, and Hornady ELDM. My total costs for everything was under $2000 on that 7PRC Tikka My favorite characteristic about Tikka is they only have one action length. I also have a Tikka 300WSM

@@scottmclean2389 One of the best decisions I've ever made. If you've not ordered the stock or barrel yet, call Stocky's and ask for KIM. Tell her I sent you. No promises but may get end of year prices

Great video, just wanted to say 35 INCH pounds torque on the action screws. Don't go 35 pounds or you will be in some world of hurt.

The problem with the plastic bottom isn’t breakage risk IMO. If you want to keep the polymer stock you can mitigate its problems with aluminum bottom metal AND pillar bedding. This will provide consistency in the stock to receiver connection and reduce POI shift. Bell & Carlson has a nice T3X stock with an integral cast aluminum bedding block that is economical and permits 50-60 inlb torque if you have aluminum bottom metal. Cheers!

Don’t be put off by the douche bags… keep making vids and you’ll get better. One suggestion.. always be honest but never guess or assume. If you don’t know, say you don’t and never give anything a free pass based on name or source.. First hand knowledge is the ONLY thing you put your name on. Honesty wins in the end, once you’re called a shill.. that’s a hard thing to shake off trust wise.

I would also add metal magazines. I have 3 T3x's and one T1x. I have picatinny rails, metal magazines, metal bottom on them all. All upgrades are from mountain tactical. I have 3 round ahd higher capicity mags for them all. They all shoot .5 moa, for real.

I bought a T3X, I've had it stock for about 2 months and I will agree the action and trigger is something you would find on a custom rifle. Best mod I did was the replacing the plastic trigger guard for a metal one. Beautiful rifle, only thing it needs is a nice set of glass

My T3x Hunter has the crappiest finish. In a falling snow, the wood stain came off onto my hands and left nasty water and drip spots all over the stock in addition to absorbing a lot of the melting snow. Do a refinish and seal the wood. The recoil pad is worthless.

You are talking more money and more weight. I bought my Tika because it was light at a descent price. Mind shoots very well the way it is. I find you're defeating the purpose of this rifle.

You know what is more money? cracking the plastic flootplate on a hunt and his titanium bolt already negates the few grams the bottom metal would weigh

The T3X indeed shoots well out of the box so keeping a tikka bone stock is a perfectly rational option. However, upgrading the bottom metal and/or the stock most certainly does not defeat the purpose of the rifle. These rifles are versatile and can satisfy a wide range of different purposes ranging from bone stock to fully customized and everything in between. Cheers!

The Tikka CTR is threaded There's not really enough meat on the regular barrel to thread and still get Tikka level accuracy at the weight. The CTR barrel is a bit of a chonker because of that.

I own the Tikka T3 ultra-light in 7 mm Rem mag that is so accurate I am not even going to take the barreled action out of stock to risk changing something. People that can't take recoil this rifle isn't for you! it will rattle your teeth and roll your eyeballs shooting it.
@jstreetgiant1970
@jstreetgiant1970 2 месяца назад
Considered a brake? That plus a limbsaver would help.
@lurebenson7722
@lurebenson7722 2 месяца назад
@@jstreetgiant1970 This Tikka T3 ultra-light the barrel at the muzzle is too thin to machine the muzzle down then thread for a muzzle break. As for a limb saver the recoil doesn't hurt me it's the recoil so bad you must always brace yourself for it and keep your head in the same place not to get scoped. The rifle is so accurate I won't even touch the receiver screws and maybe make some kind of change. One day out shooting this stupid bird landed on my target stand at 300 yards, I reset the target range knob to 300 then fired to see a powder pull of feathers that is how accurate this 7 mm Rem mag Tikka T 3 is. I took down a Roosevelt Elk in thick brush with only the area of the right eye I could see through the brush and that bullet hit exactly where the cross hair was on the eye. I own other large magnums with pretty bad recoil like the Weatherby V-5 ultra-light in 300 Wby mag but it was just returned to me from Pac Nor Barreling that I requested a New SS super match 27-inch barrel with flutes and a muzzle break now felt recoil is the same as shooting the AR 10 in 308. The Weatherby barrel was 630" at the muzzle and now I had Pac Nor change the barrel contour to 750" at the muzzle and slight larger from the area of the chamber area, it actually even makes the rifle more eye appealing look.( cost was $500 including shipping ) I own a Brevex Mauser chambered in 8mm-378 Weatherby magnum a reloader cartridge and it also has a muzzle break but without the muzzle break it can serious hurt people and possible break bones. I own an AR 10 I have chambered a Pac Nor SS super match barrel in 375 WSM and again shooting such cartridge that duplicates the 375 H&H magnum you are taking the recoil of pretty stiff felt push. I think this 375 WSM wouldn't be much pleasant to shoot in a bolt gun because the AR 10 buffer is a 5.3 ounce and XXX power buffer spring plus the weight of bolt & bolt carrier all take up the recoil
