the backwards foot is actually intentional. The foot joint replaces the knee joint in those with damaged legs, allowing protheesis to be more effective and replace the leg itself better. Its a surgery that is often done when the bones in the leg have decayed, weakened irreparibly, or been irreparibly damaged. It takes a nonfunctional leg and turns it into a leg far more adaptive than just cutting the enture thing off. It's actually pretty ingenious.

The ankle now works as a pseudo knee and you can also fit a prosthetic onto your foot. This is the prime example of "it aint stupid if it works"

the one with the backwards foot is from a surgical operation called a rotationplasty. it is done when there is a tumor near the knee and a surgeon will remove the part of the leg with the tumor in it and reattach the ankle at a 180 degree angle.
