I tried this recipe yesterday without the fresh basil. I improvised and used dry bay leaf on the fried soup instead. I think it's one of the best dishes I've ever made! Putting slices of onion, seasoning and a little oil on the base under the fresh fish before the boil really is the game changer. I will be cooking my boiled fish this way moving forward.
