This is the clearest video instruction on this particular cast on! Thanks for making it so easy.

Finally a stretchy two-needle cast-on! I have never been able to master the 'sling-shot' methods using just one needle and have managed to get the hang of this one relatively quickly. Thank you very much for posting it.

This is a very well-presented stretchy cast-on method. It's the only one I've come across where I haven't felt like giving up because it all seemed so frustratingly complex. Thank you, thank you!

Thanks so much for this. I love your words in the beginning encouraging us to use it as a regular cast on for so many projects. The video was very clear.

2 stitches cast on every time you work the manoeuvre. It’s so fast and easy.

I made a beanie years ago and used a cast on like this, though IIRC there was an 'extra stitch' at the beginning. I've been looking for that video tutorial but so far I failed. This is the closest to that, thanks! I've seriously doubted if I just dreamt of it lol

I love that cast on! I was never able to find the blog I learned it from, I wanted to double check to see if it said to only ever purl the first stitch - I’m very good at doubting my memory. I don’t think a reason for purling the first was given.

Hi, I have never tried it with a purl stitch so I had to do it. :) I did not notice a difference so you can do it either way. Also if you like this cast on you should try the twisted german cast on. Great for sweaters. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RKLlkOSdik0.html

I’m not seeing a difference either, which is why I was trying to find the blog - I was wondering if I imagined the purl rule. I knit the first if I need to. Before I found this cast on I would do a Judy’s Magic Cast On and stretchy bind off one side. I’ll take a look at the twisted german.

I thought I was doing this cast-on, but I don't twist the right under the left needle after pulling the stitch through, I just put in onto the left needle purlwise, and it works just fine for my socks.

@stitchoneknittoo3756 2 года назад
Hi, Yes it does work well if you just put the pulled stitch on your left needled, but it also creates a lace like edging, with larger loops. The other way by looping under you get a straighter edge, which might be more interesting if you were knitting socks for a guy. :)

Have you used this cast on with magic loop? I tried using this cast on for a hat on magic loop and repeatedly had to rip it out because the cast on stitches got too tight to put back on the needles (from the cords). Does anyone have help on how to avoid this problem? Thanks.
@stitchoneknittoo3756
@stitchoneknittoo3756 Год назад
You could try casting on with larger needles. Not sure if this helps

Thanks for sharing! But what makes this an "even number" cast on? I can't see a reason that it wouldn't be fine with an odd number of stitches.
@stitchoneknittoo3756
@stitchoneknittoo3756 Год назад
You can for sure make it into an odd number of stitches... just by casting on one last stitch at the end.
