I mean he was also with someone and committed.. and we don't really know how strong he's attraction/ feelings for tim were.. even without his career there are other reasons why he may not want to persue something with a guy.. it was the 80s and he would of grown up as kid in the 60s..

@@stussysinglet Yes, he was with Helen, but though his feelings for her come across as warm and genuine, they dont seem very fiery or passionate. Look again at how he kisses Tim! Like he's going off to war next day! The passion is palpable! His few intimate scenes with Helen seem quite chaste and performative to me, as though he's desperately trying to prove to himself, and others, that he is straight. She seems more like his big sister, and work buddy, and frankly i think it's for the best that they both finally saw the light and decided to be just friends. Many closeted men hid in straight relationships in those homophobic times . Remember he had that humiliating experience as a teenager, and still bears the scars. Only professional success will wipe out that shame for him. As for Tim, much as i would love to see those 2 gorgeous men together, Dale seems to have so much baggage at the moment that I fear it would take ages for them to get back on the same page. Fingers crossed though.

@@robinservais3881 Im bit confused at the last episode of season 2 when the reporter goes snooping into dales private life ... Tim tells him that the woman asked him questions .. I assumed she found out about the insistent in high school some how .. as for tim how on earth would she know there was anything between them ... Tim says he's not going lie?? Lie about what... ? There was really nothing substantial between them that happened .. they kissed breifly? How would she of even found out about that ... Made no sense to me... Basically there was an attraction between them and a kiss .. meanwhile what is Tim saying he won't lie about ? And he says to Dale I know you will just deny things .. What is he on about... Tim shouldn't be saying anything private about Dale .. why would he even think of causing problems for his life and career... And over what a kiss? Made no sense

@@stussysinglet The gossip lady, Donna, had apparently heard something about Tim and Dale getting together in the past. She started ringing people to find out more, including Geoff and Evelyn. Evelyn came around to warn Helen, who in turn warned Dale. (Dale decided it must have been Gerry who said something to Donna, as he was the only person he'd told.) When Dale went to work, he was told Tim had left him a message, so he rang him. Tim warned him that Donna had rung him as well! Dale asked him to tell her that their relationship had always been purely professional, and Tim replied that he would continue to avoid her, but was not prepared to actively lie and spin stories, (and lie about who he is), as he is 'out' now. When he said he knew Dale would deny everything, he meant he was denying his feelings for Tim, to protect his career. Though sad about it, Tim accepts that is where Dale is at right now, and would never do anything to cause him problems. He was actually trying to warn him that Donna was after him, that's all. He knows Dale's career comes first. I know it seems ridiculous these days to make so much drama over a solitary kiss, but Donna would probably have spun it and hinted at it being much more than that. That's her job. Those people are like vultures. In those homophobic times, careers could well have been ruined by the likes of her.

I hope you're right. I'm far too invested in those two.
