Yea... it's just SO who Lucy is!!!!! The 2 of them are actually quite complex in very different ways & yet have similarities. Tim said, CLEARLY to her, that stuff that would've broken veteran cops completely didn't for Lucy. BUT... I'm so glad she had Tim's, Harper's, Lopez's, & Jackson being her roommate & Nolan. Tim said, "You are as tough as they come!!!!". AND probably the phrase we've heard from him over & over again about Lucy as a cop, is "You don't just have no quit in you!!!!!". I don't know if it was after Caleb, but Lucy says, she gets that from him!!!!! ( And in that way they are similar). BUT...Tim says, "No, you walked in the door that way, that's what makes u aggravating?!". Where Lucy says, "I'll take that as a compliment." And T says it was meant 2b. And why he was so worried about Lucy when they took her phone, so Lucy COULDN'T check in with Harper. 2x during that day, he said that to Harper!!!!! But she is very caring, empathetic & is sensitive & Tim tells her that. Albeit she PROVED to him, that she STILL had what it takes 2 go undercover. She does have a big heart!!!!! It's interesting how the Captain in season 1 was very impressed with Lucy. I found it a little demeaning how she treated Lucy & called her, "Not Nolan.". We saw Lucy fight A LOT during season 1, b/c Tim wanted 2c how well she could handle herself. But they BOTH would've been there for eachother. Seeing how many times, he's been vulnerable with him & she has been so caring!!!!! I said, even when she fought the one guy, & in the last ep was able 2 get 2 the baby 1st, she was so comfortable & at ease when she picked that baby girl up. And she was calm in Lucy's arm. And her heart OBVIOUSLY for Tamara who Tim 1st thot this was mistake. AND later refers 2 her given her car away to Tamara. ♥️♥️♥️ AND at the time, Lucy didn't know, how much he did REALLY need her!!!! Considering that Ashley just broke up with him & left.

Tim did the same for her after he found her buried and dead and brought her back to life. He stayed in her hospital room all night just watching over her.

When you stay with someone even when he or she is at the worst point in life - that is l o v e.

He did the same when she recoverd from when she got kidnapped

I literally just re-watched this ep yesterday. There was something I hadn't noticed b4. Tim ACTUALLY looked at Lucy 2x!!!! The 1st time, was actually rite b4 Ashley sat on the Tim's bed. And only briefly or barely looked Ashley when she grabbed his hands, Tim as we know was staring at where Lucy left.

Nope! She definitely wasn’t as concerned. She just stood there like a pole smh. And yes! That’s why I love this episode because you can see their feelings slipping out 90% and it’s evident it’s more than a partnership. It’s love.

@@Thechenfords_ ok so it’s not just me and Your right there feelings for each other are definitely coming out more for each other. What also gets me is after Lucy walks out Tim is looking at the direction Lucy walked and didn’t really look at Ashley. I’m Pleased it’s over between Tim and Ashley but it’s a bit crappy doing it just after surgery thou. Do You think Ashley knew Tim is in love with Lucy at this point.

Oh no Lucy DEFINITELY looked more concerned!!!!!! AND Tim knows her. It was why when even suddenly he couldn't move, cuz of the guy shoving Tim the fragment moved even closer. Tim was TERRIFIED you could clearly say that, BUT immediately he was worried about Lucy!!!!! He. KNEW Lucy would be too worried. AND had NO ONE tell her!!!!!! Tim often resorts to a front & a facade. But just like when he stayed all nite after he & the rest rescued Lucy, Lucy knew he was lying when he said he no, after she asked him, "Did you stay all nite." Lucy knew he was doing the same thing. And just kinda nodded. That's what we're ALL now waiting to see how this will change some aspects & other aspect will just deepen & grow. They'll still have their shared humor.

@@dandieabbott5409 I said if I was at either Ashley or Chris, when they did their double date, I'd be saying, I think you need to figure out your feelings towards the other. I jokingly refer to that as Tim & Lucy's 1st date. They were just onlookers!!!!! That happened for anyone who watches Chicago Fire. When Brett & Casey started to have feelings for the other, Brett thought it could never happen b/c he was still ultimately in love with Gabby. Shortly thru the season, Brett who is paramedic starts to date another firefighter outside of their Division whom she meets. Casey does get jealous at one point on a call & he's a Captain. In the end, he knows he was out of line. AND accepts that Brett is happy with this guy. Casey helps her or him, with something that they can't tell him. Maybe it was Casey. I think he hit his head or something & was ignoring the symptoms he was having, til Brett sees & demands that he sees a Dr & Med to find out. B/c it was confidential medical issue, Brett didn't tell her boyfriend, but she also went when he was terrified of the news he might get. In the end he's fine. BUT...her boyfriend finds out it's Casey. She tells Casey that they broke up. And he did break up with her, & told her that he felt she needed to figure out her feelings for Casey. He was absolutely right!!!!! Casey, still feels bad, & at the end of shift, he goes to c this other fire fighter at his Division. He tells him that Brett was just helping him with this one thing. And didn't want to get in the way of their rel'ship. He was a little harsh with Casey still more resentful when he used his position to say something negative. This guy responds, u don't get?!?! I don't really care about what you think. BUT Brett is in love with love with you. AND he was right. And Ashley to me, was shallow. They didn't want the same things. I mean if Chris really is sane, they were idiots for NOT clearly seeing them together that night!!!!! Meaning Tim & Lucy.

@@dandieabbott5409 I never understood Ashley!!!! I thought she beyond selfish how she dealt with Tim. It really revealed her true colors. I get it, she realized she didn't want 2 b in a rel'ship with a cop. And we knew there was NO WAY Tim is ready to retire!!!!!! BUT the guy just had EMERGENCY SPINE SURGERY!!!!! Tim (Eric Winter) is so great with his facial expressions. Lucy too, but when Tim is hurt, ugh!!!! She should've manned up & be there and while it after recovering tell him. Tim noticed immediately that something is wrong. When he asks her, "If she is okay?!?!" She says, "NO!!!!" Yea I like the funny moments where they rush thru but she's more concerned about her feelings when he's just coming out of surgery. AND that's EXACTLY what Tim said, "Are you breaking up with me?!". Then he says clearly hurt, SHOCKED & in disbelief, "I just got out of surgery.". Don't get me wrong, we are ALL "BYE. BYE!!!!!". AND Lucy didn't have to deal with Lucy & they could just be with eachother. He can barely smile, but he does give her a little smile, when she's says, "I know.". She wanted to be there for him.

I re-watched that ep a few wks ago & noticed Tim actually looked at her 2x when Ashley was there. The 1st time is easy to miss. Most of us, caught Tim looking in the direction of Lucy when she left the room. BUT Tim actually briefly looks at Lucy, when suddenly Lucy asked, "Is this dangerous?" Tim does look at her!!!! It's just quick.

I can't believe some ppl think they have like a brother, sister rel'ship. The reality is, as Bishop told her when she was in a rel'ship w/ Nolan that if she REALLY wanted 2b a cop, she NEEDED 2 put her training as a Rookies 1stt!!! I actually hadn't watched "The Switch" ep b4, it was waay better than I anticipated. I knew Bishop was already on Lucy about Nolan. BUT...I was glad that Bishop PUT Nolan in his place!!!! Especially being older, Nolan wasn't being mature about this at ALL &: wasn't looking out 4 Lucy & her best interests & was being very selfish. When he's mad & says 2 her, "That his personal life is none of her business." Lucy had finally told Nolan that Bishop knew about their their rel'ship & obviously was speaking 2 Lucy about it then & not Nolan. "Cause essentially she REALLY was trying 2 help Lucy & protect her as a Rookie & as a woman & DID have her best interest at heart. She said & knew this would BRAND Lucy!!!! Bishop warned her, equally that she was kidding herself if Lucy thot their rel'ship wouldn't eventually come out. AND Bishop KNEW that as unfair as it is, it would be Lucy who would end up paying the price & NOT Nolan!!!! I was GLAD that Bishop didn't hesitate & said 2 Nolan, "If u REALLY care about Lucy the way u say u do, u wouldn't put her in this position!!!!". It's interesting the juxtaposition as Nolan had garnered the reputation for being an "Guardian" as a cop. It was Harper hated about Nolan at 1st & than came to respect him for it. BUT...Tim as hard & tough & at times a jerk, deep down he ALWAYS had Lucy's best interest at heart. I understood why Tim told Lucy to go to the uc school, & understand how Lucy felt rejected & told Tim, "Are u trying to get rid of me as your gopher." And Tim says, "No, I'm m trying to look out for you.". And that this was a great opportunity for Lucy & he also knew that Lucy wanted 2 pursue. Deep down he knew if she continued being his gopher, as now they BOTH knew at some level that they had feelings 4 each other that went beyond working together. It still hurt when hearing him say, "It was time to move on." I knew if they were going to have this chance that it was better that she wasn't her boss & that Sgt Grey would be. Things were still murky for each of them in how they felt. Bishop being her T.O. 4 the day was pivotal for Lucy. She haard her talking 2 a young girl, thru the window in 1 of the interrogation rooms who was in the system & lived with foster parents & this girl did have decent & good foster parents. Bishop was able 2 shoot straight with her b/c she had been in the system & lived in many foster homes that were worse than what this young girl had. Bishop told her, how when she was young, she often thot & focused on, how UNFAIR it was, that she didn't have parents like other kids & as result was very angry. It is quite understandable how a young kid could feel angry 4 the cards they were dealt with & somehow Talia came 2 realize young, that focusing on her anger & how unfair it was wasn't serving her well & somehow she came 2 this awareness that she had 2 get past the unfairness, I'm not sure if u could call it peace BUT a clearer perspective & maybe acceptance is he right wotd, not meaning defeat. I personally have worked with youth living in both foster care & group homes. It's pretty human to have NOT felt that way, resentful in the unfairness. BUT was honest & told this young girl that she had 2 stop feeling sorry for herself, b/c her circumstances weren't what she chose. That conversation that got thru to Lucy. And Bishop tells her, that's all she was trying to 2 do, was 2 get Lucy 2c for herself & accept it & not feel sorry for herself that it would hurt her career more than Nolan's & she had tough choice to make & had to let Nolan go. (I was puzzled in the end, when ALL of them were supposed to tell Sgt Grey what they learned about their T.O. they had that day. ALL of them said, "Nothing?!?!". The only conclusion I came up with, was ultimately it was a test for the Rookies to learn more about themselves & gain more insight which they ALL did!!! Lol a Sgt Grey test!!!! They BOTH realize that they had to break up. It did bother Lucy how she had been agonizing over this, when Nolan didn't. She also is angry b/c the reality was he couldn't truly understand the double standards as a man esp in this career. We did learn, that Tim wz partly true, that she did it at 1st to piss off of her parents. BUT suddenly it was the most important thing to her & had to put it 1st. She's also angry b/c she felt it seemed so easy for Nolan to break up with her. Her point again & the same point that Talia was trying to tell them BOTH individually, that ultimately it would BRAND Lucy when they're rel'ship Nolan would come out. The next ep some guy wz flirting w/ Lucy, maybe a fireman I can't recall. He definitely was interested. And Nolan got jealous, & assumed that they went out on date. Nolan realizes he was an ass & clearly she was the mature one. She strongly tells Nolan, "I didn't break up with u 2 go out with another guy." & explains she DID it to FOCUS & put all of her energy on becoming & ALL their training as a Rookie!!!!". She didn't have another rel'ship again til Emmett, & that was there last mth pushed!!!! BUT...still we learn that it was a casual & safe rel'ship for her. AND Tim tells her that he probably felt that & didn't put much effort into the rel'ship & that's why he broke up with her by text. I don't know what the heck to make of Chris. I am a little nervous b/c it seems like many of us think there's something off about him?!?! But his wrists were slashed by her. I have thot however, Rosalind drove him home at nite!!! She also slit BOTH wrists. Can a person survive that many hrs with 2 wrists that are slit?!?! And having no pressure being applied 2 stop the bleeding, could a person really survive that?!?! I've got no medical background. Lol I might google that. B/c I did think he was dead. AND the way he sang that tune honestly I keep saying, it sounded exactly like the best scare the crap out u in a suspense Thriller, when suddenly at the end, u realize it was someone whom no one expected. Gosh she went on one date with Caleb. So there was no suspense, we ALL knew he was a serial killer & Rosalind's Prodigy. Instantly, I thot he was one of her Prodigy's. B/c he sang it & sang it so cheerfully & I still don't get it?!?! Who would do that to their girl friend & not know. It would've been different if we saw someone else in the DA's office singing it. It sent chills up my spine. And Lucy realized that everyone in the DA office had watched it. I didn't like that either. Was it really necessary for the whole DA',s office to watch her at her most vulnerable as she endured hours of torture. I was only surprised in the bomb episode after the lady died cuz she was 2 scared 2 get out of the car, Lucy says, b/c she's so empathetic, "Can u imagine being terrorized up until you die.?!?!" It thot Lucy, u went thru hrs & hrs of being tortured, ran out of air, & did stop breathing & lost a pulse & Tim was lucky & they ALL were, & Harper was also right, she did try stall tactics, & obviously tossed her ring. BUT...as her TO, yes there bond started from Day 1. I've NEVER seen a fictional couple being ROOTED for like Chenford EVER on a show!!!!!!

@@tammyboon6259 that is what I meant. Relationship doesn't have to mean that there is love involved (like Lucy said "relationship, partnership, mentorship. Call it what you want). 😊 Lucy and Tim had a special bond from the beginning, not in a romantic way.

@@RoachKitty TOTALLY AGREE!!!!! But it was deep & neither could really entertain the thought. But their bond developed more & more. I do still think subconsciously they both had feelings BUT they came out after they kissed. It wasn't suddenly they had these feelings. deep feelings, intimacy, connection. It was threaded thru out all of season 4 & even both started dating others both got jealous. Their kiss revealed what was already existed between them subconsciously & how deep it was. But it started to really show at the last episode of Season 3 when Lucy suddenly sees Tim at what was supposed to be Angela & Wesley's wedding. I DON'T know what to think about Chris?!?! I had 1 thot, Rosalind was serial killer. She fed off of it. She was sadistic, evil & sounds awful BUT was good at what she did, torture people & then kill them. SO...my question is , she wasn't sloppy & no one lived!!!!!! ALL of her victims died!!!!!! So now she suddenly slipped up & didn't kill Chris?!?!? No other victim survived!!!!!! BUT...Caleb was caught all the.more b/c Lucy was caught?!?! She fought as Harper said she would & stalled giving them more time. They knew he was Rosalind's Prodigy & even confessed that she'd been killing the whole time while being stuck In prison. It took every single one of them to save Lucy. It's one thing 4 Caleb to have messed up but Rosalind didn't EVER!!!!!! She was ONLY arrested b/c Armstrong when realizing it was her, planted evidence there to get her convicted for all those whom she killed. She suddenly slipped up &; didn't kill Chris?!?! I've got new clue!!!!! Lol!!!! Btw, thanks for the shout out!!!! 🥰

I said on a different post that it was obvious at the end of Season 3 which was supposed to be Wesley & Angela's wedding. When she immediately says excuse me to Grey & Harper when she saw Tim. She looked gorgeous & Tim did NOT look at her like she was her T.O. etc. Then 1st ep of Season 3, it's the same day & they see the awful footage of them being taken BUT not expecting to see Jackson shot & killed right b4 their eyes. BUT....that night, no Tim didn't ask her to stay with him b/c of anything romantic but that she shouldn't be alone & how could she be able 2 go back to the apartment she shared with Lucy that night. No one thought anything if it, & Tim even said, we'll be right there. BUT neither Tim or Lucy thot that nite invoking something that was deeper them when he gave her a hug & suddenly had this moment & even both as Lucy laid on the & Tim lied on top of his bad, they both knew something was triggered. And there were so many bread crumbs thru out Season 4. They both got jealous when they found out they were dating other ppl. And Tim suddenly said to Lucy about Chris, "U hated that guy last week & now you're all sweet on him.". From finally dancing together at Harper & James' wedding reception. Tim didn't turn to Ashley when Lucy was helping with the house. That said something to me. Plus I loved that her & Ginny hit it off immediately!!!! AND it was Lucy who comforted & was there for Tim with everything about his Dad. I don't think he ever told Ashley that & how vulnerable he was with Lucy. To their double date, that I jokingly refer to as Tim & Lucy's 1st date 2 onlookers!!!!! BUT... subconsciously, I think Grey knew something was going on, when Tim off being promoted to Sergeant for Lucy was pretty telling. Like I said, 2 ppl can often not see they're interested in each other while those around them can notice!!!!! Lucy did look suddenly sad when Tim got defensive with Ginny in their shop, when he said suddenly to her, "BTW I'm not single!!!!" And even Tim looked like what did I just tell Lucy. This happened to me once. We never ended up getting married, but we were only close friends for not quite a year. We didn't have 4 years of working together & being there for eachother. That's why all the more Nolan & Bailey's relationship seems so shallow!!!!!

@@tammyboon6259 Roselind got Chris late night at outside his work.. But that time Lucy & Tim got to the apartment, it's possible passed 10 hours but still Chris was bleeding since when? Chris Bricase is on island table, his suit jacket is on chair and next to him was a mug.. a point . Did Chris have a spare key of Lucy's apartment. As Lucy was undercover at Las Vegas, Lucy didn't plan meet with Chris after she finished the uc case job.. Still fishing... Tamera was at the police station.... CHRIS look up his life one point.

Ha, found it! I couldn't find this comment of yours, I was looking for it for a while. I wanted to respond to a tiny part of it, because I thought of it when I watched a scene recently. _"I hope 1 day, he sees how Lucy's mom talks 2 her & defends her. [...]"_ Well, from what I gathered Lucy Chen is the character that is closest to Alexi Hawley's heart. The first episode one of Lucy's parents were in was written by him (The Shake Up), in which she spoke Cantonese btw. This conflict with her parents was introduced in that episode and I give probs to the show that they didn't resolve that conflict, and they still didn't resolve it. It makes for good storytelling and it is also realistic. The ladies who wrote the episode you mentioned (Man of Honor) did a good job, great job actually, I really like the episode, but I think at least the dialogue for the mom had less finesse than what Alexi wrote for the dad (the strict Asian parent trope was a little on the nose, but we already knew that because that was introduced in the mom's first episode, which was Tough Love, what I thought was really strange is that they made her not directly mention that her daughter was kidnapped and almost died for crying out loud, although the mom did say Lucy was risking her life as a cop). So I'm pretty sure that the writers will come back to this very central conflict for Lucy's character. And I also think that now that they are a couple, Tim will witness this dynamic between Lucy and her parents in some form or fashion. I'm pretty sure Tim would defend being a cop any day of the week, but I don't know if she or the profession needs defending. What this conflict needs is mediation. And he also happens to be not that bad in that role (as the man of honor he was forced to moderate between Patrice and Angela for example), but he also looked at both the appointment for the fertility clinic and the revelation about Lucy's biological father from Lucy's mother's perspective. And in fairness, the father had a point in the episode about the system being broken. But of course I don't think it's a good enough reason to punish your daughter for becoming a cop. And of course I think Tim would be there for Lucy, but just the same way she was there for him in the episode Breakdown with his father. She never intervened directly between them. I mean, it probably depends on the situation, but I don't think he would directly confront them. What good would that do? As another police officer he probably would look like he's defending the profession. No, I think he knows better than that. I think if anyone would step into the breach and try to intervene, it's Tamara. Which could actually work and open their eyes a little to what can be done when good people with the proper training and the right values become police officers (the law is another matter).
