Tim Blank speaks at the virtual Canadian Juice Plus conference about growing indoors with the Tower Garden Home.11-7-20 #towergarden #towergardenhome #growyourownfoot #juicepluscanada #juiceplus #timblank #hydroponicgrowing
best presentation ever on an aeroponic system. This is exactly what's needed where regular crops are failing, like in the Great Plains and everywhere just about. I love all the features, but was kind of wondering why the smaller plants are on top until I realized it'd be too tall if the bigger ones are there.
This video absolutely sold me on getting a Tower Garden Home unit. After watching this presentation, I was all in. Mine just arrived today, and I’m ridiculously excited.
Amazing how many folks pay top money for what is a basic hydroponic tower. At best its a vertical NFT on a timer at worst its a vertical tower with a centralized drip system. Based on the information given in Tower Garden promotional video`s, the tower garden will consume 10x more power a day than a genuine aeroponic tower of equal plant capacity. The genuine aeroponic tower is capable of supplying just the amount the plants will use. The question to ask the seller is; if tower garden is aeroponic, why does it need to pump so much water through the tower each day, when the plants only use a tiny fraction of it.
This was a great video.. trying to find this in Canada is there a website link etc because I'm definitely interested in investing in this. Great idea!! Especially living in high-rise apartments w limited space.
@@drlindadavis as of 2/23/2021, the towergarden.com site lists the same model as in the video (Tower Garden HOME Growing System) for the low, low payment of $80.84 per month for 12 months. That's over $950 broken into 12 payments.
@@IllaFoRilla - I did not like the look of the Home version so did not check the price on that model. I live in sunny FL - so no need of any indoor expensive growing system here. I would not pay $1000 for any system. $600 was a stretch for me on the outdoor version but willing to give it a go.
@@drlindadavis it's great you live in FL and don't need to waste the money on the crazy expensive "Home" model. What are your thoughts on the 'Flex' model when used outdoors? I also live in the south and looking into DIY/3D printed models to accomplish the same goal.
please shipping to Indonesia, we need your tower, we in Indonesia have a profession mostly as farmers, and your tower will be very very useful for us Indonesian farmers
Just orddered lights and they are on back order for who knows how long. Take my money but cant tell me a shipping date. Ive already planted my seedlings into the tower and am using a makeshift light....all I can do it wait
Has anyone done any research on the roots absorption of micro-plastics, as the roots lay against the plastic inside the tower? Ive been planning to do a commercial grow towers set-up but just thought of this and am getting concerned. Perhaps a piece of fabric can serve as a barrier? Might get moldy though.
I did some research and discovered that even if the roots did absorb micro-plastics it wouldn't matter because we will certainly die from some other cause long before the micro-plastics would make us sick. You're welcome!
I have the flex system, the pump come on every 15 or 20 minutes. I noticed the top of the planting pods are trying to mold. Is there to much moisture? I use indoors with the lights.
strawberries. We mostly like to do herbs and greens of all kinds. Bigger fruits like watermelon take up a whole port for a while because it is a viney plant (takes longer and doesnt produce as much per root) which could be used more productively with leafy greens
Hi Tim, where did you purchase your grow lights used to start your seedlings? I didn’t have any success placing my starter tray at the base of my Home tower. Thanks in advance!!
You don't buy the taller ones you buy extension kits for them, but you can have it seven high with the in box pump before you need to buy the stronger pump
These are awesome and will be needed more and more, since our leaders are letting China buy up so much of our farmland, in the last 10 years. Soon they will be competing with us. I went in the grocery store the other day and the produce guy told me lots of the vegs were from China. I was shocked.
I agree. This is one reason I’ve started 3D printing my hydroponic towers. I just don’t trust big ag anymore so I’ve opted to grow my own vegetables at home.
A family isn't going to meet their salad needs from growing a few plants. We need co-op type attention given to filling our empty spaces with these and start growing for the community on a mass scale. A greens store as common as WalMarts or convenience stores?
@@ingvildkvarme8702 ja, veldig happy med TowerGarden. Salat, koriander, timian, bladpersille, ruccola, spinat, basilikum osv. Hver dag! Bare å klippe smart og ofte, så holder det seg bra i månedsvis.

Thank you very much from France, here aquaponics and hydroponics are still not well known. I will also make an aquaponics system much smaller but I will try a prototype and see what it will give.)
Can you grow heads of broccoli and cauliflower in these towers my opinion is I would think that you can considering that you can grow heads of lettuce but I just wanted to be sure so if anybody has the answer to that question I would really appreciate it
@@katelynking4978 Love them both, no complaints, everything is working fine but some veggies will do better on the outdoor tower because of the cage and space needed. Tomatoes do better outside for taste. I recommend to grow your own seedlings to avoid pests or to treat them before bringing them to the tower garden. I live in a Zone 9A so I’m able to grow in the winter certain types of plants. Wish I could attach pics of the size of the zucchini’s wow! and they were so good, I can always taste when they are not organic. They grow super fast too. I’m glad I got both though.
Espero haber aclarado tu duda! Un saludo
It's nice to hear that this is using 90+% less water and space but can you give us an idea on how many kWh electricity this (the Tower Garden home) is using when indoor and the LEDs need to provide all light? With electricity prices as they are in some places in Europe, this is not a negligible cost. Thanks
If you’re buying one or two for your home you won’t notice anything. It only runs on a tiny little pump. Less energy than leaving a light in 24 hours. Led lights don’t require much electricity either
According to the spec about 300w per day (pump only). My genuine aeroponic towers use lees than 10w a day and they have 35 plant sites not 20. Their LED`s are 125w so if you run for 16 hours on / 8 hours off that will be another 2kw a day. Note, they are only useful for lettuce and other low light plants.
Misrepresentation by MLM. Its a good hobby. But, TG does not provide enough greens or veggies for even 1 person. Your electricity bill will increase by $10 per month, if you use grow lights for your seedlings, it will be an extra $10. Then add the cost of Mineral Blend, Rock wool, seeds, distilled water, insecticide spray.. Another $50 per month. If you buy seedlings then add $100 every 3 months. One needs to grow at least 6pods of lettuce to get enough salad for 1 person. Waiting period of 6 weeks before your salad is ready for use. So, you are still buying salad from grocery store 4 weeks out of every 6 weeks. In conclusion, TG is an expensive hobby. Time consuming and tedious. Also, realistically, only 60% seedlings will grow. Quite disappointing. You can use TG only if temp is 70 plus for at least 10 hours a day and night temp higher than 60. Basically.. 6 to 7 months a year. Then u need grow lights for indoor TG. Indoor TG is slow and not worth it. A total of $1000 per year. Just remember the amount of greens you can buy for $1000 per year..Hobby vs Objective decision making.
Hi Tim! Total fan! You are at Tru Garden there, I think. Can you tell me please what the temperature is at the greenhouse? I'm curious. And, I guess it needs to be controlled as well as ventilation. Adriana
This is a lot of green, but very little food which people could actually sustain themselves with. It is a big herb garden. Yes, a tomato, kale, celery and some lettuce.... but no protein, carbs or root veggies.
its about $55 a month for the basic model for a year and then after a year it is paid off and it lasts for years and years. We have had ours for over 10 years
try to keep pests from coming in in the first place and make sure everything is grown indoors from the start. Also good to avoid being near aphids when going near or having aphids nearby the building with the tower garden
It takes extra work but you can manage.don’t let it get out of control. Pick off infested leaves, rinse in water, use water/soap solution. My aphids came in from my balcony. It was a pain at first but that’s part of gardening in or outside. If you have aphids you should tend to it 3 days a week. It’s work but it can be therapeutic and enjoyable
