Gridiron college football, formerly based upon on-field performance, has now been relegated to a beauty contest, based on brown-shirted committee members and eye-tests, established well in advance. Simply let Alabama, Georgia, Michigan and Ohio State (in alphabetical order) play for "a" championship at the end of August, eradicate all other programs and simply move on to the NFL, where there is much-greater parity (by design).

The SEC's biggest out of conference win this year was Kentucky beating Louisville... The SEC SUCKED this year! Bama needed a prayer to beat Auburn, struggled with USF, Arkansas, and TAMU.

The biggest issue affecting the new B12: - New B12 will only get 1 team in the new playoff ( along with the ACC and G5) - We are in the P2 and G7 Era of college football.

Bottom line the understanding has been that if you’re a power 5 program and you go undefeated winning your conference championship you’re in. Period. If Alabama goes undefeated and wins their conference championship but loses two QBs and looks shaky in their final two games do they get yanked out of the playoffs by the committee the way FSU did? Not a chance in hell. It’s about viewership and ratings clout of the SEC and Big Ten aka money. Period.

Nobody wanted to talk about Michigan only getting 213 yards of offense against Iowa. While Fsu got more yards against a higher ranked team with a 3rd string QB. I believe Fsu, with their defense could have won it with their 2cd string QB. Imo Phillips is working to impress the Big 10 and against the Acc. It was a mistake for the Acc to make him commissioner. The same thing has been happening to the Acc with BB bids the last few years, and Phillips has done nothing to change it. He should be relieved of his duties immediately.

It a sham. Anyone who thinks there will ever be a playoff that does not include an SEC team is insane. Herbstreet and ESPN started laying the groundwork for this over a month ago. Every year they change what is important as far as criteria to get in to the CFP. Is the injury to the FSU quarterback was so important, then why wasn’t the Michigan cheating scandal taken with as much gravity? Why did they not consider the competitive advantage they gained from cheating? That’s the only reason they are where they are right now. And yet they’re allowed to advance. It’s a travesty.

I'd like to see FSU play all of their best players in the Orange Bowl. I know everybody is angry now, but if they somehow beat UGA, the AP will vote them national champs and we'll have split national champions, especially if Alabama or Texas wins the playoff. It's still something to play for.

I've been a diehard fan of the sport of college football for over 30 years.......I wasn't totally crazy about a playoff as it would dilute one of the best aspects of the game; every week is (was, especially next year with 12 getting in) a playoff.....lose and you are likely out of the picture. Now we'll have 9-3 Big? and 8-4SEC teams with a chance to be labeled "best team in America"? I can see a 1-loss team having a case, but 2 or more losses and it is hard to say that. NIL and transfer portal are just getting started and wait until that really gets going.....you'll have massive turnover every year and it will just be kids going to where they can get the most money. CF used to be special....the traditions, the passion, the loyalty and team spirit.....now it will just be a watered-down version of the NFL. The playoffs, NIL, transfer portal....and then last Sunday was the nail in the coffin. I feel sorry for the future generations that will never know just how great of an experience college football was.

I thought the Olympic Games were bad. Then came the CFP.

I keep thinking back to 1993-1994. In 93, WVU was undefeated and should have played undefeated Nebraska for the title, but those in power decided the Huskers should play 1-loss FSU, a game which the Noles (controversially) won. The Mountaineers didn't even get a shot. Hell, it was lucky Auburn was ineligible because the Tigers were also undefeated. In 1994, a lot of the same story, except this time it was undefeated Nebraska and Penn State. The problem there was the Rose was exempt from bowl coalition rules, and Nebraska was named champion after beating 2-loss Miami 24-17 in the Orange Bowl. Like...they just decided the Nittany Lions didn't even deserve a share, even as PSU beat Pac-10 Champ Oregon 38-20 in the Rose Bowl. The results on the field didn't matter for WVU or PSU. Oh and also f*** Tom Osborne, Bobby Bowden and Joe Paterno. Both as coaches and as people.

That response is both uninformed and lacking any logical substance. Inherit in their babble of an excuse is them trying to make this about what “they think they know what a UGA vs FSU outcome will be. They are so clueless they cant comprehend how that game holds no water regardless of the outcome. Both teams especially FSU will have entirely different rosters. I say especially FSU because of the amount of upperclassmen on their team who after getting screwed over by the committee will not play in the orange bowl. Now that the undeniable butt kissing of the SEC is completely out in the wide open where even a bind parrot can see it this may be a watershed moment for the sport, one bringing light with a overwhelming constituency of college football fans who are going to demand change. And that change needs to be enacted asap regardless if we are selecting 4 teams or 12 going forward. . If the process is biased and corrupt its just as corrupt regardless of how many teams get selected going forward. These fans recognize If this can happen to a school with multiple national championships, 16 conference titles,3 Heisman trophy winners, home of one of the greatest decade plus runs in college football history and last but not least the program who gave us one of if not the most legendary head coach in the history of the game, a guy named Bobby Bowden, if it can happen to that school after going 13-0 why couldn’t it happen to their beloved football team? This will not simply get swept under the rug by espn and that now in hiding committee. We all must demand accountability and transparency going forward if this sport wants to be taken serious any longer. I applaud the actions being taken by the state of Florida, the ACC and FSU via legal channels to investigate the alleged corruption, to expose it when it is found and bring it into the light of day. Let the chips fall where they will and let the heads roll for those who thought if we just keep defending the indefensible it will all go away with the next news cycle. I look forward to punitive monetary damages as a result of the legal process because the only thing that speaks louder than words with the corrupt institutional players from both ESPN and the CFP business enterprise is loosing lots of money. By my calculations FSU has grounds if they can make their case which you Tim have so eloquently laid out by backing up the corruption and collusion narratives with evidence of wrong doing which we know on numerous levels has already been demonstrated. If they can do that we are looking at the possibility of punitive damages in the tens of millions if not hundreds of millions. That would be the exact pushback college football fans need to rescue the sport from corrupt espn media tyrants and the committee members who presently have complete control of the process. We as fans of the sport need to protest this. I challenge everyone to boycott all bowl games. Don’t tune in to those channels and enjoy your day doing something you have neglected doing for some time. In order for change to occur (like getting rid of biased committees to decide who plays) we need to be heard. If something isn’t done about this, then it sets a precedent for the future of college football that is ugly and not fair.

I'm a Texas alum and fan, and Tim is 100% correct. Texas already beat Alabama, why the hell are they in the playoffs instead of an undefeated Florida State who seems like they could beat anybody if they threw zero passes?

IMO this has nothing to do with football. Disney owns ESPN and DeSantis launched investigation into corruption at Disney. This is payback from Disney to hurt Florida financially. Connect the Dots.
