Yh. Only Apple can hack it. And the iPhone 6 will be COMPLETELY in hackable. They are using a new software team so not even Apple can hack it. That's what I call dedication. And that's also why macs and iOS is the best. Android and Windows can swallow my big dick

He probably makes mroe money than you 10 times over. He isn't dumb, he just prefers not to have his customers rights taken away in the name of freedom.
@MajorMuffins13
@MajorMuffins13 8 лет назад
Kathy Yoo This has nothing to do with country you tool. The United States has the worlds most powerful armed forces which you spend over $600 billion per annum on. You think data, that the FBI most likely already have, is a major threat to the US? Hahaha, yeah right. This is about the United States Government having the ability to check in on anyone who uses an Iphone, as well as potentially leaving a massive door way for hackers to reap all over bank and PayPal accounts. What the fuck is a country without the people who populate it? If you're so ready to lie down and be a bitch in the name of 'freedom' which is being taken away from you by this, then no wonder you think he's an idiot. You're a typical example of someone who has no idea what they're talking about, in this case technology and law, and formulating a hardocre pro-nation opinion. The FBI had the information, they told a Police Dept to cause the phone to lock itself. Now they want backdoor acess to the Operating System of the Iphone to get it, do you know what that means? No, you don't. Shut the fuck up Katy ya slag, I'm all for being patriotic and shit but now isn't the time to be a turd.
@MajorMuffins13
@MajorMuffins13 8 лет назад
Kathy Yoo Someone can't read, fucking moron. I didn't say the US government wanted my bank account, or anyones, I was saying that hackers would use the backdoor on the iOS to get bank details of millions of people. Understand now? I have a feeling you don't have a very good job based on your shit English skills, so I'm pretty sure everyone earns more than you hahahaha XD
@markpkessinger
@markpkessinger 8 лет назад
+Kathy Yoo -- Of course they can get your bank account. But there may be other data stored on one's phone they cannot get. But Cook's point is that once this backdoor technology is created, it won't only be government that uses it, but also identity thieves, to whom your bank account number is not so readily available.

I was always fond of Apple products. Not just for their quality and the design and efficiency. Also for their customer centricity. I am working as a security consultant and I always wanted to see privacy equally handled like security and usability. So I was not surprised on that statement. What surprises me more is that Tim was able to withstand the arguments of Gerard Baker. This interview is now more than 4 years old. The latest statement from Tim last week aimed at social networks that drains customers of their data and make them a product shows how significant this topic was and still is. I hope that more companies will learn how important it is to keep freedom of your own data within your own boundaries.
@marcobartel8535
@marcobartel8535 8 лет назад
"Privacy is important, and it is a key value of our company.... our view is that you can have both security and privacy; I don't want to read your e-mail or texts." Tim is awesome, and this is precisely why I switched over to Apple. I'm not obsessive-compulsive, but I can't stand any company digging into my family's personal information. The assumptions that 'I have nothing to hide' and 'I'm not that important' are not sufficient enough for me to stomach the conclusion that a certain company will pry into my life if I use their (free) services. So avoid them, right? Precisely. Now that is about using great services, which I don't believe should require the companies that offer them to take something with their other hands; believe me, they can afford to offer free services without selling aggregate data. What of security and the rise of a Fichtean state? And this is where Tim nailed it philosophically and practically: "I don't think you have to pick between either security or privacy." Cheers, Tim.

+Kent Sextro You should probably look into the origin of that quote, because you're not understanding what Franklin actually said and have entirely mischaracterized his own position and intent by doing so. You're far from the only one who makes that mistake. Every Libertarian under the sun makes that same mistake.
@kentsextro9692
@kentsextro9692 8 лет назад
babybirdhome One can argue whether the statement is or isn't out of context; if it was said very literally directed towards a specific event, does that mean it does not hold true to any other aspects?? The founding fathers had specified the role of our federal government, and the role of our states, check Article I Section 8. There's no arguing the overreach of our federal government.

As much hate that I have for Apple, I support them in this 100%. And there's a much easier solution: On a case-by-case basis when something like this happens, send the phone to Apple to have them remove the brute-force security protection that erases the phone data after X amount of failed attempts, extract the needed data, reapply the security, and send the phone back. The password/pin/pattern or whatever the perpetrator used would not be that hard to brute-force with a supercomputer, but the AES-256 encrypted data itself would be impossible. If it starts happening a lot and using their resources, let them write it off on taxes or something. Every tech company, whether they want to admit it or not, has proprietary utilities to do things like this. And even if they don't, they should be able to reverse engineer it since they have all the source code. It's the most fair compromise, Apple shouldn't have to allow a HUGE security hole in their proprietary software, compromising the privacy of millions of users. There's no reason why they should have to do this for EVERY phone! And if the FBI doesn't want to send them something that's "evidence," then I guess they can just suck a fat one.

I recently concluded my Apple Fanboy phase after realising the reality of the world and the tech industry, and what ive learnt over the past 2 years of using Apple products is this: - we can compare OS vs OS all day - we can talk about convenient features all day - we can judge others for what brand they use But regardless of who you are or what phone you use, Privacy is a human right and thats why I’m sticking with Apple…. I hope the rest of the market follows.
