Sucks how Tim will just be known as “the Robin whos bi” instead of the Robin who has more in common with Batman than any other Robin. Wish Tim got more media representation the same way Dick Grayson has.
I am begging you to get an original take. Every single time a character is written as gay or bisexual, people like you comment about how it shouldn’t be their defining characteristic or that it’s all the character will be known for now when that is absolutely untrue and there’s no precedence for such a thing. Tim Drake is known for being the brainiest Robin who’s most like Batman, but doesn’t want to become Batman. That hasn’t changed. Most avid Tim Drake fans are absolutely loving the development, but they haven’t started treating Tim any differently than they did before. They just have a new character to include in their Bat-Family posts and fan comics in Bernard, who isn’t actually a new character, anyway. He’s from a previous Tim Drake comic. I think it’s great that Tim has his own supporting characters and doesn’t exist solely in his superhero family’s orbit. It fleshes him out and makes him more unique and independent. This is a good thing. He’s not dating another superhero who already has clout, which means his own little corner of the DC Universe is expanding. I miss when each of the Bat-Family had this going for them. When they were more than just their mantles that they inherit and pass down and the actual name of the person is what mattered. Also, Tim Drake fans have been shipping him with Conner Kent since before he was even named Conner Kent, so again, this changes nothing about how fans perceive him. No one looks at Tim and thinks “the Robin who’s bi.” They see the nerdy Robin that they grew up with who struggles with the Batman legacy, was a founding member of Young Justice, and just happens to have had male and female love interests. I’ve only ever seen negative takes about his bisexuality from people who are just general Batman fans and not specifically fans of Tim Drake and his supporting cast.
@@Kyran1996 in all fairness, this comment read to me more like lamenting that Tim is rarely ever in non-comic adaptations, which is how most people consume these characters, and the bits we've been seeing recently seem to focus on him being bi. I still disagree with the overall point that people will see him as "the bi robin", but I also think it's a shame he's probably the most obscure robin, and a lot of his adaptations don't really do him justice, mostly on account of not really giving him any spotlight. Him being bi or even being writen to draw that to attention isn't the problem, it's just that we never see enough of him out of comics.
@Onyi Ononye Shes still in the comics, but idk if the writers want her to date Tim again. They probably will get back together bc diff writers made them break up and get back together plenty of times.
I can tell you don't read the comics because if you did you would know that the general consensus on Tim is that he is the smartest robin of them all rivaling Bruce in smarts and being deemed the worlds second greatest detective
@@brianxolot9987 No, I do read comics, but not as much as I used to. I'm fully aware that Tim Drake just as smart as Batman/Bruce and that was the characteristic that made Tim special and stand out from the 2 Robins before him. That why I said "he Robin who has more in common with Batman than any other Robin". And, I'm a little surprised by the statement "the worlds seconds greatest detective". I googled it and its true, but I always thought Question (the character) was the 2nd greatest detective before Tim Drake. Guess you learn smth new everyday.
Fans: Be creative , make more new original and interesting character and don't matter if he lgbt and people will not hate you!!! Dc: Making old character with big history and origin bisexual.....
Honestly gar and Rachael know what’s up 😅. They look like proud parents to Tim ❤ I can’t lie. I have to say they did an amazing job with the beast boy and raven casting. I am so happy they gave Titans another season 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Tim being bi doesn't diminish or overshadow his success as a Robin (+ being Red Robin). It's a part of who he is and this decision wasn't a new development. Bisexuality also isn't being attracted to one gender, he just has a new relationship with a guy. Love WFA too! It's fun seeing The Bats together as a family. Very sweet.
They decided to make him gay in a 23 volume run that didnt even last 2 years. 2021 during the peak rise of the woke mental ill agenda they decided "Fuck this charcater, hes gay now", sad.
It is absolutely a new development. Point to where it was hinted before. His relationship with Stephanie was good. And they had a good reason to break up in the new 52. She should have some resentment towards him. Not for being bi but because he wanted to basically like kinda take over the world. In the victim society arc? Or is that comic too old and I'm out of date?
Tim was written as a straight male for over 30 years and then they just randomly have him come out as bi. Unacceptable! They should've created a new Robin for that. If DC was going to do that to Tim Drake, they should've did that within the first 10 years of the character's existence. It's like having the Joker become a law abiding crime fighter. That's not how the character was made. Tim wasn't created with the intention of making him bi after 30 years.
Here's the questionable thing about this comment section. Half of you, are insistent that Tim should be with Steph. The other, is insistent that this is over sexualised and that there shouldn't be a sexual aspect to this story. Which is it? Bernard was a bit weird in the comics, I did not want to see quite that much of a non superhero love interest to be honest, when there WAS a superhero plot going on. But to be honest, the viterol spewed about the changes in the TV show are pretty ridiculous. The show has changed plenty of things, the entire timeline is completely different. For them to adapt the current relationship Tim has in the comics is really not that weird of a choice. If we're going to insult casting, the actor playing Dick looks nothing like Dick's traditional depiction, but to be honest, I haven't seen that much sobbing over it.
How is Someone ruined just by liking Boys? I do understand that some Gay Charakters are badly written and their whole personality relies ob beeing Gay but Tims Sexuality isnt eben mentioned. He is just in love with a Boy and has a Live Outsider of His sexuality. There are no politics mentioned, so anyone who is still offended is just homophobic guys
If he was gay when he was first created then thats 1 thing, they made him hay siddenly in 2021 during the peak rose of the woke agenda in a limited run that barely lasted 2 years. The people have spoken, they dont want gay, they want just nromal stories and the normal characters, make new charatcers if you want gay characters. Tim just being bi out of nowhere is out of charcter and extemely forced.
@lionelmorgan732 the change wasn't made to service the character, just to get brownie points and the writing for it wasn't good and it came out of nowhere
I think it's because it's still at the beginning and still needs more development, I have the same opinion as yours when I talk about the relationship of jon kent and jay nakamura
People need to stop being mad about bi or gay characters in DC or in things in general. It was found that around 10% of the population was part of the lgbt community, and there are 30,000 characters in the DCU. If you were to take that number into account, there would be (on estimate) 3,000 lgbt characters in the DCU. Stop crying about it, saying it's "weird" or "woke" or some other crap. It's the real world, get over it.
You people do understand that being Bi doesn't mean you have to date the same sex immediately right? In television bi is basically gay. You can be Bi and never have an experience with a person of the same sex. I am sick of this identity politics shit!
its noice to have more gay characters but why did they make tim drake black? it's odd i almost never see any white gay characters , and when there are , they tend to race swap them , like tim and marshallee from adventure time , also for some reason the only feminine / crossdressing characters in media are always black , and not white even though in real life there are much more white crossdressers / femboys , maybe it's that they want an extreme "token" character? to like pander (just something i've noticed) , i'm a white gay femboy and it would be nice to see a character thats like me in those ways / looks like me too , and it doesnt sit well with me when those characters are forcibly changed in something like that or like how there already arent any characters like me (romance is something that can change / there are plenty of "straight" people who develop feelings for someone of the same sex or people who are bi but just havent shown that they are) also the few gay characters that there are in media tend to be killed off too or be extremely stereotypical or extremely macho / manly
This is exactly why they lost to marvel over and over again because they make stupid decisions that impact a character’s history and story I’m a dc comic fan I read dc first before marvel so I’m more of a dc fan and these new writers should be fired and while your at it never pick up a pencil again you’ve ruined enough characters and guys you wanna say your fans right ? Then speak your opinion you know why I’m sick of these writers because they ruin fan favorite super hero’s that they didn’t even create
Gay characters in the DCU aren't new. They have gay characters in the 19s. And this doesn't ruin character. Tim Drake is still the same dude he was back when he debuted back in the 80s, he's just dating a dude now.
Yk I miss when tim was just a kid and sexualality didn't matter in batman just like when everyone just watched because they loved the characters the plot and most importantly the fights. Idk if its cannon that he is bi but seriously it ruins not the character but the series tbh bringing the sexual activity into the show was a mistake full stop in the adult modes yeah but it was hinted at in the kids shows
**TIM BEING BI IS THE NEW REBIRTH COMICS.... NOT THE FREAKING OLD RETRO COMICS NOR NEW 52 when he also got to be batman beyond. That ended but the REBIRTH SUCKS.**
tim being batman beyond is horseshit. and tim being bi doesn’t matter, it doesn’t change anything that normal people like about his character so why should you care so much?
This show completely Ruined Tim drake oh and this is yall “Tim drake is bi in the comics” what makes you think that those new writers even knew the character of Tim drake at all they changed him for no reason and he was never like that to begin with just like aqualad and Alan Scott
They destroyed Alan Scott’s character for nothing they’ve violated joker I mean cmon, oh and aqualad was probably violated the most out of everybody oh and they made superboy gay for no reason just like tim drake just like Alan Scott 💀just like aqualad just like superboy
@@woIfsonyeah but using that argument of original over new than Batman should use guns because originally he used pistols and had holsters but obviously he's a better character now and Tim came out as bi so he isn't exclusively gay so he can still have relationships with steph and others in the show that's what happened in comics even after the 2008 issue and coming out as bi he still had girlfriends so he can in the show even if he's bi and likes the star labs guy.
@@Maximum_Watts It was not a 2008 comic issue. I have no idea where the hell you got that idea from. It was literally a year or two ago, and has absolutely destroyed the character for the most part. He’s become a shell of the former character he was, because instead of making him an interesting hero, he has become: “Robin, the Boy Wonder, who can never not talk about Bernard”. And not to mention the writers of these stories have been completely disrespectful of Tim & Steph fans, having him break up with her off-panel, never citing a reason why they broke up, even though a consistent character trait for Tim has been that he loves Steph and wants to be with her long-term. Anyone who supports that decision made themselves look very foolish, because they could have made a gay Robin, who was gay from the get-go, considering how often Tim & Damian usually say they want to retire or go do their own thing, it would have made sense that a new Robin would step forward.
I hope Bernard is comic accurate. Beast Boy isn’t green, Tim and Beast Boy are… of a different race (that’s not me being racist, that’s me pointing out inaccuracies) and Beast Boy can’t transform into lots of animals, probably due to his new origin. IMO, Young Justice’s origin made the most sense. And the origin with the green monkey biting Garfield just feels unrealistic. And if anyone comes out with the whole “it’s a different Earth” bullshit, I’m just gonna ignore you. It was clever the first time, but it’s just lazy writing.
@@zenpixels7247 lmao did you not read what I said those writers wanted new fans like you they didn’t care about the character of Tim drake those writers didn’t care about aqualad or Alan Scott or superboy
if you did this just for finding out he's gay, i'll laugh when you find out the sexuality of most DC characters. in fact, wake up, this prejudice is already out of fashion!
I would have liked if they executed it in a better way , it's just that it feels so much forced , not just their dialogue, but also the interaction and chemistry between them
Woke agendas stay ruining characters smh, he's supposed to be with either cassie or spoiler, smh, prob gonna get heat for this but whatever cry abt it.
He's been bi even in the comics (source material). Just say you don't want to see us represented and leave. Imagine getting pissed over a fictional character.
@duelcoolmaster10 us grown lgbtq+ don't care about you all acceptance, that's for the lgbtq youth. How is someone being visibly queer a hindrance to y'all to make y'all feel forced?! Nobody is holding any weapon and saying you need to like it. We exist and will continue to do so, so why not move on if it's truly nothing to see?
@@ringsofblayze4026 you literally forced the representation, i hope you guys never get represented in another show until yall stop forcing representation. representation is deserved not forced.
@dfef862 how we force respesentation by existing?! Letting everyone else know we exist. Or is it that you can't put us in our place? Y'all lame go make up a more creative excuse.
I was wondering when Bernard would be adapted outside of the comics. I hope he also appears in a potential sequel to Gotham Knights, since Tim is bi in that.
@@robertlopez7888 that’s weird I haven’t read many of the new comics tbh and imo Tim is better with steph the batgirl chick or whatever I guess but I like Jason more tbh
If you actually read comics, you would know Bernard used to be in love with Tim's hot step mom, and this is a failed and horrible publicity stunt by dc comics. To make a character gay for no reason at all, except the hack writer had no other ideas. When she was handed the character to write
@@keuvin_ if he was bi, he wouldn't have went on about how every relationship before Bernard felt like settling to him. That's what a now gay man would say 🤷♂️
@@killerwakyduck4183 Tim and Steph are not toxic lol and the fact you use the word toxic. Shows that you and I could never be friends. I can't stand anyone who uses that word. It is completely overused
I read the comics, and Tim being bi (NOT gay) actually makes a lot of sense. Especially with Bernard. Plus, this is a new adaptation. It doesn't have to be "bad characterization" like the comics.
