I became a Spurs fan in '95 because of "The Admiral" David Robinson and funny enough, because of the uniform colors, but in '97, I became obsessed as a fan because of Duncan, till this day i am a Diehard Spurs fan, now even more crazy because of Wemby!!! Spurs4Life baby!!! 🤟😎💕💯

I will always defend Duncan over Lebron. And Larry over Lebron too. Duncan and Bird/Magic and Kobe are on the same level just under MJ/Kareem/Russel. 5 championships means a lot when you are the main reason why your franchise is sucessful in winning.

Tim is the 2nd player to tally career totals eclipsing 24,900 points, 13,900 rebounds, 3,800 assists and 2,700 blocks! The 1st to do it goes by the name of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar!

@Nonamemannn I always ask the question of his career depending on the city. San Antonio when you look back on the city he fit right in. This was in the 90s and 2000s what if he played for an east coast team would of not been as successful
@TimothyZakaria
@TimothyZakaria 2 месяца назад
@@NonamemannnI remember watching the 2003 and 2004 seasons and the NBA had better ratings at the time than the NFL. Detroit Pistons was my favorite team and the San Antonio Spurs grew on me. They broke the Pistons up which really sucked and you probably guess what happened the Lakers and Celtics took over the league again

Duncan is the GOAT. 1) He did it in the modern era. No disrespect to Kareem & Dr J, but old school training & recovery techniques were just different. Comparing generations is impossible. 2) He did it in one place. That knocks out Queen Jamie who moved to position himself with super-teams (and still managed to lose). 3) MJ has 6 rings, but he did it with one core team in an 8 year span. Duncan lead the Spurs to dominate the NBA for longer. Duncan racked up 5 rings in 15 years. Duncan had to adapt to a completely different Spurs team.

Stop it. Duncan is great but he's not the GOAT. There are too many reasons to waste time listing them all. Besides your #3 is wrong. MJ won 3 titles with one team and 3 more with a different totally different cast aside from Scottie Pippen

Can’t be the GOAT when he has to be put as a PF or else he wouldn’t top the Center list. That alone shows a lot. But still my second favorite player ever and in my top ten. Wish they didn’t screw him out of his quad double

@@boozeman4749 First part is a yes but even when Rob played, he would go to C (where he played high school/college) and it winded up being about 33% of his time early on there still. And 07 (when they beat the Cavs) is when he made the full time switch. From 07 to retirement he played Center 85% of the time (usually due to playing next to some stretches like Bonner)

“Tim played center in high school and college. In the NBA, Tim played 63% of his career at center and 36% at power forward. In the seasons he played power forward primarily (520 games between 1998-2004), he was at the position 65% of the time and center 33%. **For the remaining 872 games of his career he played center 85% of the time and power forward 15% of the time**. He played center for the overwhelming majority of his career.”

he has better stats and chips compared to most centers. One reason why he isn't part of Goat debate is because of his simple playstyle and because he had a great supporting cast. however he is what glued the team together
@MrMixItup

Timmy was a great player, yet he the talent around him that allowed him to be great and win championships. Although the over seas players didn’t have an American background, they could all flat out play. Coach Pop was good as well, so overall playing with David Rob coming in the League didn’t hurt either.

Yea we had a great team but our team was great because of Timmy. He carried the spurs, he put them in his back and he showcased on the biggest stage why he’s a goat so this narrative and video is irrelevant

Not really.. After David Robinson retired, Duncan averaged less than 20ppg in 11 out of his 13 years as a Centrer... His offensive production stopped as soon as RObinson retired.. Robinson was the one defending against Prime Shaq's, Hakeem, Wallaces, etc.

I think Duncan has a great career, but he never was the best player in the NBA in any decade... By the time he won his 5th title, he wasn't even the 3rd best player on his team (Parker Manu and KAwhi were all better by 2014).

He's not the GOAT cause there's a player named Michael Jordan who beats Tim Duncan in every analytical metric, accomplishments, dominance, and impact on the game.

@@manumalia Why Kobe? Duncan has as many championships, more MVPs and finals MVPs. Why Shaq? Duncan has more championships, more MVPs, and the same number of finals MVPs. Why Bird? Duncan has more championships, the same number of MVPs, and more finals MVPs. Duncan has 5 championships to Wilt's 2. Duncan has 5 championships to Hakeem's 2. I'm not saying I disagree with you, but I think there is at least a reasonable argument to rank Duncan significantly higher than you're suggesting. You could within reason put him as high as fringe top 5-6 all time depending on what your criteria are. Really gets hard to objectively rank once you get past MJ. Also Russell probably should be above Wilt.
