It was my first visit to Riva del Garda, on the mountainous north bank of the stunning Lake Garda, and I was blown away by how beautiful it was. I have always loved Italian culture, the architecture and, of course the food, so was very much looking forward to shooting there.
I had a chance the day before the Elopment filming to take some shots of the surrounding area, including the Dolomites (which feature in the rather stunning opening shot!) and get a flavour of Riva for the opening of the film. I always like to establish a sense of place in my films, so location is always important to my wedding videography, and something I always consider when taking on a commision.
Timothy and Elina are a truly international couple, Timothy from the UK and Elina from Ukraine, who love everything Italian. It was a joy to spend the day with them and photographer David Bradford taking in the sights of the romantic town, and being a part of their ceremony.
Unlike a traditional wedding, an Elopement is a far more intimate affiar with just the couple, but the photographer and I made sure they had time to themselves througout the day.
As they only wanted a short film, it allowed me time to really focus on composing some really nice shots and tell a simple story of their love.
