I have known Tim and Illyssa since our Syracuse days. Tim has always been an incredible role model, the true definition of a Renaissance man, one of the smartest and classiest men I've ever known, a dedicated husband and family man with a heart of gold. My heart breaks that he is facing this fight against ALS but if anyone can make strides in battling and finding a cure and truly beating this, it is Tim. His story should inspire us all so please support him in any way you can.
Very sad, I lost my Mom to ALS last year and ALS is a nasty disease. Hearing Tim talk reminds me of my mother trying to talk a few years ago. Prayers sent.
I just watched this and I must admit (myself dealing with stage 4 cancer) that you look at how much good there has been in your life, rarely bitter, the bad falls away and you push forward because you do not want to leave the people you love so very much. No comparing; Tim's had such a noteworthy life. I suppose mine feels as grand, though I don't have near the accomplishments Mr. Green has had. I wish him the very best going forward. It was good for me to see this strong man, which makes me realize positivity keeps pushing us forward as we deal with illness which changes our normal with the intent of ending our lives. I see so much of this with this good man. I wish his family strength, the majority of us do not do this alone.
Me too, this is sad to see him in this condition. He seems to be a terrific man and it's great to see him so upbeat despite his condition. I wish him and his family the very best!
I remember watching Tim Green wrestle when he was a senior at Liverpool High School. He would pin his opponents in a matter of seconds. As a defensive lineman at Syracuse University, he dominated the field. He has always optimized the image of a scholar athlete. I am heart broken to see him in this condition. His courage and humility in fighting ALS does not surprise me at all. He is a warrior, and it is not in his character to give up or feel sorry for himself. He continues to inspire, and he always will.
Tim Green visited my school for an author visit 10 years ago and he was amazing. He held the student audience spellbound with his message. What an inspiration then and now.
Tim was such a great inspiration to me growing up playing sports and being an athlete. His books not only conveyed the lessons learned in sports but how it applies to life. God bless Tim green
I've met Tim many years ago at a book convention, and he had signed 2 of my books that I had bought, I asked him a question, and even got a picture with him (he's very tall) I was surprised by his deep voice and he inscribed those books saying to keep reading, many years later I always wondered how he was doing and finding out about this now, it brakes my heart knowing about this, but as long as Tim continues to fight ALS, I will look up to him as a hero and as an inspiration.
I too have ALS. I was diagnosed in 2014. God has blessed me with five good years. Tim has expressed exactly how I feel. Don’t waste today on worrying about tomorrow and that goes for everybody. Let tomorrow worry about itself. Thank you for being our voice! Please give the ALS research so we can slow down or stop this terrible disease.
I could only dream of having that kind of courage, a real man, with a big heart. It's these types of people I could only aspire to be, and his family will forever remember how their father's behavior in his final days, and its that lasting impact on his kids that will make them true and genuine people, that is for certain. The difference and impact in life always comes from your parents, what a motivating and impact message Tim Greene has served for his family, no doubt.
Tim green is such a great writer. He wrote a book a bout a child who was deaf and the book was built on a true story. If your wondering what the book was, it's called "Left Out"
Just saw this, it made me cry and inspired me. I read his first book " The Dark Side of the Game" many years ago and still mention parts of it when talking football around the water cooler or local pub. Bless him and his family, tackle ALS.
I read one of his books called baseball great and got me more interested ..His deliverance and how he understands certain places to touch when he is writing stories comes from his heart and you could tell that he loves what he does ..To communicate and inspire us through his knowledge ..Praying you Mr. Green and Family ..
Godspeed to you Tim Green, you are an awesome Warrior, keep fighting the good fight against ALS. San Francisco lost one of our 49ers a few months ago of ALS...You might know him Dwight Clark, the man who made the iconic Play of "The Catch," and launched a NFL Dynasty.
I saw this on tv..so sad...these never tug at my heart strings..butbwhen they showed the footage from a lil more than a year ago and its progression so fast it blindsided me..god bless thjs man and his family
ALS is one of humanity s scourges. I saw my Father succumb to this insidious illness 40 years ago. He died at age 55 while suffering for one year. Not much progress toward a treatment or cure in past 40 years. Many prominent people have succumbed including Lou Gehrig , Catfish Hunter , Ezzard Charles the boxer , David Niven , Sen Jacob Javits and Chairman Mao . Dwight Clark is afflicted now. I hope and pray a cure is close. Best wishes to all victims.
Watching this really changed my life. For The Better.Thank You Mr Green. I am going to pursue a new career. American Football In China. But is reminded football is a beautiful game yet so brutal...…..Because of heroes like you the game has gotten a bit safer...God Bless
Such a sad and terrifying disease because an ALS diagnosis *currently* means certain death in the future, this disease IMO is even more terrifying than cancer :( Hopefully they can find something that can stop it before it claims another victim :(
Me.Tim Green My heart goes out to you! I understand where you are coming from! Why don’t they research what Head Trauma might do to young people as they age! I suffer from MSA ( Multiple System Atrophy), and I got the “ No Cure” comment too! My Heart goes why out to you! Les
ALS is a death sentence there is no cure there's nothing for it he's a dead man walking my prayers go out to him and I hope he goes home to Heaven my dad suffered with that for 7 years it took everything from him it is the most ugly disease I have ever seen.
So whats wrong with this picture? A guy goes on TV to promote his books, by arousing viewers sympathy over his brain injury from playing football, but at the same time, he is making money from training children to play football, so they will also be subject to suffering the same brain injury that he has.
I am shocked at the fact everyone is fine with football as if this not a correlation between playing and all the diseases that football increases the likelihood of! And his obvious lie that he would change a thing. If that were true he would not cry about recieving the diagnoses! This is exactly what government is for to protect us from ourselves. This was classic drug addiction. Drug attics discribe doing drugs the same exact way!
He is not making money teaching kids to play football. He has enough money. He helped out at the high school. Coached me. Football teaches life skills: teamwork, practice, discipline. Life is a team game and Tim Green is a beauty.
He never looked for sympathy just the opposite. He actually says he was lucky and got to do everything he wanted. How many people are lucky enough to do what you love. He is blessed with everything but years.
The ALS is taking so many lives and I feel like we need to find a cure it's sad to see such great people loose there loved ones because of this terrible Disease
