One of my favorite uses of these mini die cutting machines is when you just want to cut out a small single-word greeting dies, the ones that say "Hello" or "Friends". Beats having to get out the big machine, and they fit perfectly.

Great recap Tim! This sidekick has a perfect footprint. I resisted buying the bigkick a few days ago. Perhaps divine intervention! Would love to have one of these beauties instead.

I just purchased this new Sidekick to replace the 3 I already wore out. I was delighted that this machine had been reissued. I was off to a 4 day weekend retreat and needed a machine to die cut my letters. When I opened the box I was very disappointed to find the new cutting pads are too thick for the Sizzix sizzlit letter fonts I have. I had to use one of the cutting plates and the embossing plate to cut my letters. Needless to say the embossing plate was not made for this. I did not cut into the embossing plate but it still cracked in a very short time. I had some original cutting plates and dug them up when I got home. They work perfectly with this machine. I hope they are still available.

Nancy Lynn I just became an Instant die addict! I bought dies, 4 months ago, I Still have not used, but, as I began... All of the sizzix stuff started to Really upgrade. Now... I would love this lil guy, for, "get, I need a word cut" ... But, I Do have my stuff All Over, lol.. So, I Must Wait, I want an extended platform, and a big shot plus, As well as a cricut maker, and a cinch... Then, Back to ink, stamps, and, lol... it may be a good idea to start a support group! OR, just go to work For Sizzix!!! lol

Hey guys, if you would rather have a prettier model, Sizzix came out with a much cuter one in WHITE !! It came out for Stephanie Barnard & was posted several days ago on her web site. It is the same price. I saw that promo first and fell in love with it.

How come you can't embos with other dies (like Marianne Design or Joy). I only see the embossingfolders for embossing with the adaptorplate, but no embossingplate voor dies that cuts and embos?

It looks to be much more sturdy than other smaller units out there. I have previously purchased several other smaller units, and they broke on me, primarily the plastic handles broke off within weeks of buying them. I will try this one next.

I still have the original Sizzix sidekick, can these plates etc be used in that one too please?

The plates should still work in the old Sidekick but you can check with Sizzix directly to be certain.

Why is it that the handle on Sidekick turns the opposite way than the handles on most die cut machines? I am use to turning the handle clockwise to feed the plates.

Hummm...that's a good question. I'm not sure what the answer is. That might be a good question to send over to the customer service department at Sizzix. They might have some insight to your question. Thanks for watching.
