Tim McGraw is still the king of country music.

My father passed away last October. For some reason while watching this video today it truly hit me. I was all caught up in the memories of me, my two brothers and father riding in his old 70's F150. We spent so many days cutting grass, growing crops, going to practice and games. I even learned to drive stick in it. Most of all we laughed alot and learned about life in that truck. "There's to many memories". It sat for maybe 10yrs and it cranked up last year. I'm not a mechanic, but I'm thinking about restoring it and just ride through the country with it. Make new/old memories with my grandson.

We were going to buy our first home and had plenty of goals, even after 16 years of being together. I'm going to use it for a down payment on a home, that we would have loved together.

I've always been fascinated by the way a car, a house or a place acts as the third element in a relationship that binds two people. As the song suggests, a car is the ideal metaphor for movement and for one's journey through life. For whatever reason, I remember all the crates I've owned. The roads travelled, trips taken, beer drank and loves won and lost. The rare victories and the many, many defeats. It's all there, stored up in the paintwork on that metallic shell. Warts and all. As is that undeniable sadness when the time comes to say goodbye. That last look after handing the keys over, knowing a part of you is driving away with it. All that's left are photos to spark a memory. I hope this finds everyone well in these strange times. Be sure to take those trips and to make those memories.
