Such a blessing to not only know the message but to adapt to life and live that humble and kind vision. Mr. McGraw did me a solid by hearing the lyrics and putting his melody with them after I shared them with him. Plus, he taught me that I have something to say which is worth the time it takes to listen and learn from. It is good to know that part of heaven is here with me and people like Tim help to spread such ideas I can't wait to record more music with Tim. He is definitely one of the good eggs. Lol. Love him. Sadly, for me, Tim gives credit to Lori McKenna for writing this song. I remember him mentioning her name when we created most of it, but I don't recall why. It was 33 years ago. I fear, however, telling the truth about this song might cost me the opportunity to work with him again. But, I live in the real world. Nobody will ever believe I wrote it. My own brothers tell me I am delusional and turn their backs on me or hang up the phone if mention it. Truth does that to liars, I guess. I'm just trying to be me, nice and kind and willing to help when it's appropriate to do so. Don't get me wrong. I'm not bragging. I'm not after money. But it would be nice to be able to say, i helped to write the song of the year for 2016 and have people close to me know i was telling the truth. Anyway ... I was so sad, but accepted it in my heart and asked the lord to keep me humbly waiting and giving me strength. Last night I just thought of googling songs that gives courage and this song I found. I cried so so much. And I prayed and again asked the Lord to help me. This morning I received a call from the Dr. She said"I've got good news. " You are being operated on Thursday. my husband of 31 years passed away a couple of weeks ago, my heart is broken. I really like this song, and this is truly how my husband lived his life, he was a wonderful man! I played this at his funeral and listen to it at least once a day.

I was diagnosed with terminal cancer in February 2021. This song found me a couple of months after that, and it really touched a nerve in my heart ❤❤ Against all odds I beat the cancer, but this song still speaks to my heart, and I think it always will ❤❤
This was my daughters favorite song . Aug 15 2019 she lost her life long battle with a mitochondrial disorder. 27 years old. Each time I hear this song I am reminded of her approach on life and will continue to follow the meaning of the song and honor her memory .

I love that line too, and I witnessed it just the other day. I work at a grocery store, and a woman came in with a handful of items, but she didn't have enough money. She tried two cards and they declined and she looked so distraught because the food was for her kids. She was frantically digging through her purse and moved to the side, as to not hold up the line. The man behind her saw and whispered to me, "does she have enough?" I shook my head, and he was like, "how much? I'll get it." and he payed for her order. The woman just looked at him baffled, as did I and started crying and thanking him profusely. When I rang him up for his stuff, I told him "thank you, that was really kind and I hope someone pays it forward to you one day" and he told me in a way that made me want to cry, "ma'am I've been paid overtime in my life. I've always had a hand held out for me and I'll do what I can to extend that hand to someone else." Those words have stayed with me, and if I ever write a book, I'll quote him lol idk if he meant it religiously or not, as I'm not religious myself but it gave me a little more hope for humanity. And this song always reminds me that there is good in the world, and that there are good people still willing to help those who need it most. Just thought I'd share hahaha
Well my sister has passed away at 10:47 pm tonight Monday June 3 2024 at 45 years old from cancer. The sad thing 2 is she was going through divorce from an abusive marriage with kids 7&9 years old. This is the worst loss for me in 29 years, i guess it's lucky being that long. I wish i could've found love again before she passed and have a child. I lost my only years ago, may we all be in peace and be blessed. Thanks for all the years Angie and for my niece and nephew and being the strongest example in our family. God bless and keep you as you go through this most difficult season💗🙏🏻💗When I had just turned 37 and my older sister 39, Thanksgiving weekend 1992, on the way back from church Sunday evening, her friend from church, her friends little girl and another family little girl all were killed and two of nieces also passengers in the car, one niece 13 yrs seriously injured/in ICU for two weeks, the other 10 years old who was more traumatized than any of us as though she didn’t show any signs of physical injury, the emotional/mental “trauma”/ “injuries” are something anyone much less a 10 year old little girl who lost her mom, ever truly gets over. An 18 wheeler driver drunk and on cocaine ran a FM road stop sign broadsided the car they were in, hitting the side my sister was the front passenger in. She my 10 years old niece) was awake throughout the accident, seeing everything and hearing her mom scream out Jesus help us before the truck hit them, dragging their vehicle 500 feet. He had no idea what he had just done, taking the lives of 4, seriously injuring one child, causing the other to be traumatized, having the memory haunt her the rest of her life, robbing both girls of their mother. Witnesses said he got out of the cab with a bag of McDonalds, sat down on the grassy median and ate. Though I can’t understand exactly how you feel and things are for you, I do know the grief from a loss of a loved one we never dreamed we would lose at such a young age. All the years later, though I still miss her so much to this day, I take heart in knowing one day we will be reunited for eternity in Heaven and though the pain eased up slowly but surely over the years due to holding on to the promises of God knowing His Plan is Perfect, not mine and trusting Him, that though we live in a fallen world where pain, suffering and loss are inevitable, He never ever once leaves our side and gently, tenderly carry’s us when we can’t take another step on our own. Of my own understanding, there’s no way I could comprehend that when enduring a tragedy like I did, like you are and to some degree all of His children do here on earth do at some point in their lives, I thank Him that though I’ll never understand the “whys” of loss, especially of babies and young people, I do know that even when things are at the lowest, the worst point of our lives, we can grasp and hold on to the very thread of Jesus’s cloak and He will and does get us through everything in this life and that one day will see and be with our loved ones in Heaven for all of eternity, where all the pain and suffering we endure down here the relatively short season when compared to eternity, we must endure, that if we stand on His promises, the rewards and riches in Heaven keep us going just like knowing we will be reunited with our lost loved ones, one sweet day. Can I tell you that it was easy for me or over the years after like it eventually became by my faith and trust in God growing stronger and stronger even through this devastating loss? No, of course not as I just like you and every human ever to walk this earth, must endure pain and suffering, but I can tell you that I know there’s a reason for everything and I am never going to know or truly understand any of this , knowing I have the father I do in God, gets me through things in life, this old world I would’ve never thought I could endure and it’s true that with my own strength there’s no way because as a human I’m weak like all of our brothers and sisters, but the one thing each and every loss in my life has taught me, that with Him holding me and always by my side, that yes it’s His strength, love and grace that gets me through it all and sustains me always. I believe that’s why it’s said something good always comes out of something bad, because without enduring the Storms in life, the losses I truly believe we would never be able to really to truly appreciate the good and the great blessings from God in the same way, the same depth with the same appreciation of just how sweet the blessings are. I guess I’m trying to say we as humans would take everything good from God for granted, like having beautiful sunny days every day, never have experiencing cold stormy ones. I hope and pray and will never stop that as time goes by, although we never ever stop missing and yearning for our loved ones who have gone ahead of us to their eternal reward, I pray you find peace and comfort in His arms like I have, making your burdens easier to endurance💗🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💗I have chronic autoimmune diseases, just as a very close bff and sister in Christ did. She was part of the autoimmune support group online I joined some 21 plus years ago. We became close like family over the years on the phone as she and her family lived in Montana and me in Texas. The last year of her life as she went through the hardest battle of her 69 years here on earth, the worst imaginable muscle wasting autoimmune disease one could imagine, she taught me what it really is to Praise Him In This Storm when you are at your lowest, the toughest journey of your life. There is a song by the Christian worship music group Casting Crowns called Praise You In This Storm. She really lived this out each and every day, evening through the last breath she breathed. Before watching her going through her journey, I thought my faith was strong enough to endure anything and everything, even the worst possible storm, being that God had pulled me through single storm, but I was wrong. I learned that we need to let God feed our souls, nourish us to grow stronger in our faith by prayer, simply talking to our father just the same as a conversation with a loved one here on earth, studying, not just reading His word in the Bible, fellowship with other children out there just like us, for me having a “church family”, by praying and letting Him lead me to service in the capacities He intended for me to, just preparing me more and more each days for eternal life in Heaven with Him. Yes I cry, I still grieve those loved ones I’ve lost over the years but through all the storms and losses He truly did and does bring something good out of these, even though when we are in the depths of despair though we can’t see the light, He can and does, leading us to the glorious rewards He promises in Heaven for all eternity💗🙏🏻🙏🏻💗When opened and listened to Humble and Kind, though I never purposely start reading the comments, the beginning of yours caught my eye and I honestly feel God led me to share my story in hopes it just might help you in some tiny way as you go through this season, and you too over time will experience the lightening of your load, the loving presence of Him throughout all and you, too will be able to start Praising Him in every Storm this life brings💗🙏🏻🙏🏻💗God Bless and Keep you now and always and may you be able to hold on to that thread too of His cloak and rest secure in His tender loving arms🙏🏻

This song has been a true inspiration to me in the past few years. I was able to obtain my G.E.D, Drivers license, buy my first vehicle, buy my second vehicle, buy a brand new truck, start a company have a beautiful son, I got off the streets for the first time in my life. Just last night I was in the hospital getting another CT-SCAN to make sure my cancer has not spread, the nurse was so kind to me, holding my hand as I prayed. This is the song that my son chose for his wedding song for us to dance to. At first I did not understand why. About 1 min into the song I realized why. He hears his grandmother saying these words to him every time he hears this song. She passed away when he was almost 5 but still remembers and misses her. Lesson learned always stay humble and kind. I learned a long time ago from a very wise woman, no matter how bad you think you have it, someone out there has it worse than you and you should consider yourself lucky to have what you do. Part of good character is what one does out of kindness and empathy for others who can 'do nothing' for them and when no one is watching. Character is being humble and kind even if you and the one you helped are the only two people who will ever know.
Everyone's story is different. I don't have much family or people to talk to, this song was on replay every morning when I was going through self doubt and very hard times. It played a video in my head of me envisioning the future. This song put a constant reminder that we can't let battler scars and bad times shape us, its part of the journey God picked for us. I am so sorry for the loss of your Dad. My Daddy died when I was 9 years old. I am 70 now and I still think of him everyday. It's always good memories because he was the best Daddy any little girl could have.

i've listened to this song on repeat. I lost my papa a few weeks ago and his death is finally hitting me pretty hard. This song reminds me that he's still with us spiritually and even though i wont see him at all the family gatherings, that doesn't mean he isn't there. I'm not a believer of god but the night before he died, it was 2:40AM and I had a bad feeling in my gut. That night I got on my knees, put my hands together and said "If there really is someone out there, someone greater than this world, please. Please, I know he's suffering. If it's his time to go home, please take him. Nobody will blame you and he deserves to go back home. Let him have peace." This is still hard for me to comprehend but it's changed my thinking quite drastically

I held a nasty grudge for 4 yrs..I finally gave it all to God and asked for forgiveness. .I was forgiven and the chains were broke. I was a slave to that grudge.Stay humble and kind.
Love this song! I just gave my life to Christ awhile back after going down the wrong path for many years. I have a lot of time to make up for but this is one of the songs that motivates me. If I can change anyone can. Then maybe everyone in this world would finally know true unconditional love for one another and peace.

The thing is Zack, it's not up to us to forgive someone if it's our friend or family that are dating or seeing a person we don't agree that they should be seeing or whatever the case maybe. That's your friend or family members decision to forgive that person and continue with that relationship. You might not agree with whoever it is decision that they want to stay seeing or doing whatever with that person but you have to respect that friend or family members choice because it's their life and ultimately their decision to do so, not yours. You can talk 'til your blue in the face but if that friend or family member isn't ready to move on, all the talking in the world Isn't going to do any good. Trust me I've been down that road before. Our job(your job) should be to be there for your friend or family member and support whatever they decide to do(within legal or moral standards of course). Granted it's not always easy to see the person you care about keep doing what their doing and hurting themselves . Sometimes it's a relationship decision and sometimes it's something's that are worse then relationships but no matter what it is, you should let that person know that you're there for them and you'll help them when and if they're ever ready to ask for it. I have one of my best friends going through something right now and I know in his situation the best thing to do is just be there for him by listening. He doesn't have anyone that he can really talk to, so I see it as my job that God has charged me with to be there and listen and if he needs to come over just to get out the house, so be it. I'm lucky his is just a relationship issue. I've had friends where things are significantly worse and their self destructive lifestyle has cost them a lot. Sometimes even their life and me losing a close friend...Just let your friend know your happy to help them with what you can whenever you can if your able. A lot of times its just an ear they need. I do hope things get better for you with your situation. I'll say a prayer for you that things work out for the best. God bless you brother.
***** i know what your saying its Ive seen things. seeing her break down really did a number on my heart. as a man I feel you dont do what those things to someone you love. i have talked to this girl, hell thats what i love about us. we can talk and the get the awkward feeling out and gone. i want to have faith in this person who hurt her, i really do but i don't. ive seen their history and it never ends well. always fighting. i hate how she's cut some friends. reminded of boy meets world quote "lose one friend, lose all friends, lose yourself." she said she doesnt like being told what to do. i know that and no one was telling her what to do. we were expressing our concerns. i also know the girl shes dating is very manipulative.

Well, first Reba's Just Like Them Horses and then this---this kind of stuff is an evolution of country music in my opinion. Absolutely amazing song, it brought a tear to my eye.

Listened to this song with my parents right before I left for college. Hit me so hard that I went upstairs to cry for a minute or two and took it all in that this is gonna be tough to leave but gonna be for the greater good of my life. Gonna try to always be humble and kind now
