I still have have my momma but almost lodt her 41 years old and stage 4 grade 1 stomach cancer.." adenocarcinoma" in 2013..she made it and fought really hard followed by surgery and chemo daily followed by radiation..I and my brother were beside her while dad couldn't " think of losing her nor us kids. My mother's working abroad, this song made me appreciate her calls, her messages, and the importance of every conversation we have. I really appreciate this song . We need to love and appreciate the people that are close to us, especially your momma because when she’s gone there is an ache that gets easier but never fades. I had to make a choice to make my momma comfortable in August 2019 in the process my youngest sister at the age of 43 had a massive heart attack and died a few hours before my momma did. I listened to Jimmy Yeary singing this song on his show a week or so ago.

Being a 1000 miles away for years can break a man's heart, I'm sure it broke hers. Life and the lord take you where it wants you. But boy do I miss momma.

I heard this song July 30, 2020 right after my son who is a Marine, called me to let me know he was not one of the Marines who was missing from the amphibious vehicle accident. I could hear something was wrong in his voice, he proceeded to tell me one of his men from a previous duty station that he was good friends with was one of the missing. My heart was breaking already for all the families of the missing but my heart was even heavier after learning my sons friend was a new father. My son was telling me about Cpl Rodds newborn son who looked just like his daddy. It was all I could do to hold the tears back but I knew I had to be strong for my son, he was hurting and there was nothing I could do to take that pain away but just set and listen to him talk about Cpl Rodd and all the good times they shared. This song is very hard for me to listen to, because it reminds me of that day and the mommas of the Marines and the Sailor who were lost on that day who will never get another phone call from their sons. I feel very blessed to have such of a special bond with my son, he knows I’m always there for him day or night. Thank you for your ultimate sacrifice and service for your country. Marines Cpl. Seeing both parents take their last breath and die slowly and go from being alert to slipping away in a matter of moments is the hardest thing I have ever had to go threw.
