The first ARCA race that had the reigns in the flagstand, Tim won at his home track of Berlin. I always wanted to get that checked flag autographed by him. Another one of many opportunity missed. I have very few items from that era, but what I have are dear to me. I worked on a lower funded team prior. When I became an official the last thing I wanted to be was an autograph hound. I knew how important the guys time and focus was needed at the track. It my be time to pass some if those items on though.
Something I wish would have happened is Tim Steele running NASCAR Winston Cup. He almost did till he had that brain injury but he was definitely one of those drivers that was too good for ARCA
As a fan of Nascar/arca in the late 80s and thru the 90s, I always rooted for Tim in the HS Dies #16 ford thunderbird, I pulled for Jeff Stanton when I was a Boy Scout and saw him in Boys Life mag...
