I grew up on the autism spectrum and struggled to fit in with other people. In high school, I wanted to make friends with non-disabled people, but they did not include me in social activities such as texting and hanging out places. This made me feel depressed and it made my challenges worse.
I am trying to make a difference and create a world in which people with autism and other disabilities are socially included by their non-disabled peers. Me being socially isolated by my non-disabled peers as someone with autism was a negative experience I faced. I don't want people with autism and other disabilities to go through social isolation like I did. I would like to see them feel valued by their non-disabled peers and for them to form friendships together. My goal is to put an end to social isolation among people with disabilities.
Creating assemblies and educational programs for schools is one of the best methods to help erase the barriers that separate people with autism and other disabilities from their non-disabled peers.
