Tim Tebow Throws The Football Like A Javelin

Okay, so the guy beat a Steelers team, completing 10 passes, mostly to wide open WR's that the masterful Dick Lebeau apparently didn't scheme for. Whatever. This guy is a total gimmick who is not going to win another playoff game, ever. Not with this throwing motion. My word, I'm no QB coach,but even I can see that this motion and these positions just scream out: "Wildly inaccurate!"

He throws it just like a baseball... long arm circle, good external rotation and he pronates hard at the end. This wouldn't cause him to be inaccurate (otherwise baseball pitchers wouldn't throw like that), it just takes too long to get rid of the ball, and QBs need to have really quick releases

A football and a baseball are different sizes as well as different weight and aerodynamics. Stafford and Kaepernick were both baseballers and they are both a lot more consistent than Tebow ever was, because their mechanics are much more efficient and kinetically sound (yeah I know, replying to a 2 year old comment)

Reading the comments in hindsight is hilarious. People got so offended at this guy for pointing out such a simple truth. That his throwing mechanics hinder his ability to be succeed in the nfl. And he was right to no person who actually knows what they're talking about's suprise, he started one more game in the NFL after this. And it's not because there was a conspiracy against him, it's because he wasn't good enough for long term success.

The comments saying "He's an NFL quarterback, you're just some guy at home, so you can't criticize him," are unfathomably stupid. I'm willing to bet that most of the people here aren't professional chefs, yet you know when food tastes bad. Just because you aren't something doesn't mean you can't criticize it. Tebow is a very likable, decent person. He is also a very terrible NFL quarterback. A career completion percentage of 48% and a passer rating of 75.3 attests to that. He threw a pretty poor 20 yard pass, and the receiver made the play. "But he won a playoff game!" That doesn't make him talented. One good game is not evidence of anything. Matt Flynn threw for 6 TDs and over 480 yards in a game, which is better than Tebow ever did in any game, yet nobody claims he is a great quarterback, because one game isn't enough to determine if someone is good or not. Three seasons is, which is what Tebow has, and he has proven time and time again that he is not a good quarterback. Even if he has a great season next year, that still doesn't make him a good quarterback. Good players stay consistently good. If Tebow's next five years are all good, I'll take back everything I've said and claim he is a good quarterback. Until then, he just isn't any good and there is no way you can honestly say he is.

A well built taco I would agree. Tim is a horrible NFL qb. Not knocking the guy down but he is. People thought he was amazing for winning that one game but that doesn’t mean anything to people depending on whos team it is. I am a huge cowboys fan and Tony Romo was actually a really good qb but he had one bad play that defined his career solely because he was a cowboy. Football obviously has many talented people who can decide an outcome of a game but a lot of it is luck.

@thangQanime

The throwing motion did suck. Just because the ball went where it was supposed to go in the end, that doesn't mean energy and time wasnt wasted in the process you moron. If I was a QB who could throw the ball pinpoint where I wanted it to go everytime I tried no matter what, but before I did, I had to spin around 3 times, no one would want me to play for them. I find it hilarious that people still defend him after he's been cut multiple times for the same thing. HOW MUCH MORE FUCKING PROOF DO YOU WANT!? lol

I think he got the habit from pitching. I'm a pitcher and a quarterback... After pitching baseball it's hard to get back in the QB position everyone expects you to have, and we all know Tim like baseball so he might've been working on pitching. But when you said it won't work long term, I totally get it I mean I like my arm high above me so it gives me more yards, but if he throws it like that it's gonna give him more speed and power. And that's what you need!

Fair enough. I was just commenting on how ridiculous this guy looks when he's dissecting Tebow's passing style on a play where he throws a TD pass in OT during a playoff game. He's just so blatant about it, he just can't be serious.
@YTisaPainNow
@YTisaPainNow 10 лет назад
It's a very inefficient throw. Tebow's average time to make throws is .60 sec compared to the average QB which is .30 sec. That may not seem like much but it is when a DT is trying to get a hand on it. His mechanics were a problem and why you often saw his passes wobble.
@HandsOfCinderblock
@HandsOfCinderblock 10 лет назад
Johnny Cade That makes sense. But the guy should have posted a video of an incompletion as opposed to a game-winning touchdown. It just looks silly.
@RoothleSSMusic
@RoothleSSMusic 9 лет назад
Johnny Cade So are Peyton Manning's mechanics ineffective as well, since his passes wobble? Cop-out excuse, man. Peyton is one of the greatest to ever play, so your argument is null and void when using that point.
@doobore
@doobore 4 года назад
Huh? Yeah, the ball might have arrived to where it was intended, but the build up was completely unnecessary and took too much time/energy. That pass could have gotten to the receiver MUCH quicker if he didn't extend his arm back all the way and then bring it up and sort of sling it. His arm should have gone up stiff in one signal motion, which would have made the throw much faster and more efficient.

I could probably count the amount of people who made it to that spot as a starter that "sucked" on one hand and Tebow was not one of them. He had an awkward throwing motion and it took too long, but he was a Heisman winner, two time national champion and won the AFC West the one year he had a team give him a shot. Tebow never played himself out of the position like many others have had the opportunity to. I bet that if he was a little bit more quiet about what he believes, you wouldn't have cared so much.

That throwing motion was amazing in terms of speed/velocity and getting it through the gap. He is able to establish a kinetic chain with that base, and to release a lot more power from his legs by delaying his throw and staying closed longer. Learn a bit more about baseball then come talk to me. That was a great fastball.

For all of those that are here to defend Tebow, I have a question: What NFL teams are standing in line to have a shot of landing Tebow as thier starting quarterback? Jacksonville was the last team I knew of and they came out and said they have no intrest in him. The Jets barely used him at all and they had Mark Sanchez making mistakes all year long. In fact they passed over Tebow and went to thier 3rd string QB at one point. NFL quarterback? I don't think so

Somebody on the Dan Patrick show (Florio i think) said it best. He'st the worst practice qb of all time. If you are trying to evaluate your receivers and tight ends, you can't evaluate them if your qb throws like shit. You are therefore betting your whole season, if you go with Tebow, on him making some miracle play in a late game situation and a beast defense. Just not a stable recipe for success.

Can't help but notice you follow up the statement "here's why Tebow sucks" with a "here's a look at the game winning touchdown". Keywords... GAME WINNING TOUCHDOWN. You'll never know if it would have worked. Y'all didn't give him a shot. But in the few games he played, he took a 1-4 broncos to the playoffs. Also, if I remember correctly, they said the same thing about Russell Wilson... They said "he's too short". He'll never make it. Russell proved y'all wrong just like Tebow did then and just like he's doing right now. Just face it, Tim Tebow is so hated because he's religious and isn't afraid to show. Its hard for most folks to live life as Tebow does and it makes them jealous. So... Y'all do as most ppl do and try to bring him down your level. It didn't work. Get over it. Most important question... What years did YOU play for the NFL?

Okay, I'm a Steelers fan, but really? I don't like putting Tebow down and saying he sucks because, well, he fucking beat us. If he sucked, we would've won, now wouldn't we? And the way he throws it is just like how any other left-handed QB throws. And ever quarterback puts their whole body into their throws. You said that he threw it from the twenty and made it to the fifteen. For one, that's backwards, for two, he threw that ball twenty yards. In my opinion, that's a pretty decent sized throw. Anyways, you do realize if we beat the Broncos we would've been obliterated by some revenge hungry Patriots, right?

Commentaries like this video are obviously put out by wanna-be's who would've, could've & should've. To analyze 1 small item of a player & reduce it down to 'the guy is terrible' shows evidence the commentator hasn't a clue about the big picture - what makes a winner a winner, from where success lies.

1 small item? Wtf. That throw wasn't a fluke. Tim Tebow NORMALLY has horrible throwing habits. He's a shitty QB. That's why no one wants him. Tebow is a case study of how you can actually get pretty far in life just from having a memorable victory pose.
@TruthQuest1

Can't be too horrible when he gets the job done! QB's who win a lot, elevate their team, where hailed as the best college QB of all time, had the 2nd highest throwing completion ratio in all of college football, and who's first starting year stats were better than Elway's & Manning's stats, can't be all that "shitty" as a QB. "No one wants him"? Small minds can't figure that one out.
@thangQanime
@thangQanime 10 лет назад
punkchicktoo Your pretty words would mean so much more if they had substance to them. I doubt Tebow would even want to hear them, devoid of contract as he is, as words of encouragement. His performance during college is essentially what got him where he was, and his incompetence as an NFL performer (namely as a quarterback) got him where he IS. Small minds huh? How about you look at his completion ratio during his days at the NFL? Any person with common sense would know that this is in fact the more accurate judge of his current skill level. That coupled with the fact that the NFL is on a much higher level than college. Only fools hang onto former glory, and pathetic enablers such as yourself encourage them to do so. Keep being delusional if it helps you sleep at night. But try using real logic to support your argument the next time you approach me, rather than over-reaching misleading and irrelevant bullcrap.

Actually he was 8-4 as a starter. He had one of the best rookie season in NFL history. He won a playoff game as a rookie(took Stafford 13 years) The NFL corporate sports pundits hated him because he was a fundamentalists, Christian. This scared the hell out of the corrupt oligarchs. The NFL could not have a crazy Christian winning football games. The NFL is a fixed league, controlled by gambling, and the alcohol industry. Today Tebow would out perform every back up in the NFL. Stats are for losers.
