Poor Judgment, he needs 25 years to send a message and make it clear, "as the driver", YOU are responsible.

Almost exact same thing happened to my sister very close to where this happened the guy got $1000 fine .

They can appeal the sentence is too lenient for the lost of 5 kids. Should be at least 5 to 10 years for manslaughter x5 so between 25 and 50yrs.

@@Terrestrial..1 I think they were the same age as their friend the driver 18yrs. 18 you can go go the pub and clubs have as much sex as you can handle join the army navy airforce and die for your country or make a mistake and get in a car driven by a drunk 18yr old.

5dead? Only 2 and a half years behind bars? He will be out in 8month time. This justa slap in the hand. He's drunk behind the wheel for christ sake and driven way too fast. Where's the law here. Different law apply to different people is sucks. He killed 5 kids and this what he got, 2 and a half years. Whata joke.

Weak sentencing has come from the very top. Labour stopped the build of a new 2000 bed prison asa they got into Gov't . Since then manslaughter is now basically home D.. and on it goes. Then they have the cheek to say that their policies are reducing prison numbers... Empathy has no place in the Courts when there has been a deliberate act with fatal consequences, in this case X5. I feel slightly sickened by this outcome.

Are you saying it was premeditated murder? If you want a larger prison population you should move to the US, I hear they have nearly 25% of the worlds prisoners. You'll fit right in there. Actually, you should move to the middle east, they amputate hands for theft still. Can you give a source for them halting the $2.5b mega-prison corrections planned?
