Architect Craig Collins discusses his design process involving post & beam company Arrow Timber Framing. The design was a Northwest Contemporary with Modern Hybrid Timber Framing incorporated.
The original design concepts and subsequent adjustments & revisions resulted in a gorgeous modern timber framed house. Mortise and tenon joinery was used, as well as some steel joinery techniques. Massive posts adorn the back of the house with the Great Room and Balcony promoting a gorgeous open-concept timber design.
There are modern box-trusses that provide a balance and massing to the overhead rafters, and use of wood flooring throughout. There is even a nanaWall opening from the living room out to the back that provides a view, and a breeze in summer.
