Meh, remakes are fine. If you love the original, you should be happy to see someone else's take on it. The original is untouched and you can keep watching it too. This won't be the same and it's not supposed to be. It's a new take on it, made for today's young audience. It's not intended for us that watched the original.
@@Beeti1 Yeah take a look at Disney Star Wars destroying the name Star Wars, turning fans to anti-fans and their last iteration "Acolyte" ended with 5% of the audience that "The Mandalorian" had. Its not as if a horribly bad politicized remake will ever destroy an IP and turn people off to it.
Absolutely ! The magic and the beauty of the visuals were the result of Gilliam's auteur vision and the use of poetic FX with imagination and tricks and illusion instead of modern tech... This remake will be forgotten as soon as it will be released, and we will still watch the original and love it :)
What’s so impressive is the original was a fairly low budget movie and it created timeless visuals that hold up to this day. This new CGI abomination probably spent the same money as the original in catering alone and it clearly sucks!
There have been times when remakes have been better than the original. The original silent film of Ben-Hur was considered a great film, but it was remade, and the remake far exceeded the original in quality. Just because a film was great, doesn't mean it can't be made even better. I think it's worth seeing if this one can live up to challenge.
The prejudice against original cool cult movies too ! Don't care if Terry Gilliam is OK with that, he should not be. Jesus, why do they have to take perfect pop culture gems and turn them into today's useless soon to be forgotten TV series or reboot or sequels or remakes ???
AGREE !!! Shame on Gilliam for allowing this to exist. The magic original will still be an absolute delight to watch in ten years when this "supposedly respectful but not too respectful and useless remake for the new generation" will be forgotten.
The original was produced by HandMade Films and George Harrison. Classic movie. Love it. They were really onto something with reality TV and game shows becoming "your money or your life"
Liked Lisa Kudrow but instead of a remake they should have developed a sequel or prequel storyline and brought back some of the original cast. Taika Waititi is really either really hot or really cold.
Or how about we appreciate that it looks better and sounds better and has one of the best comedy teams on the planet writing it? I mean, no shade to the original, but sometimes remakes or updates are actually good too. And it’s different enough that-WHOA!- Maybe we can appreciate BOTH!
By the numbers, there are almost certainly more new original films coming out today than any time previously. The movies we now consider classics didn't always get the most attention or highest advertising budgets at the time either.
Wow this just kick started a bunch of childhood memories. I need to go back and watch the original Time Bandits, The Adventures of Baron Munchhaussen, Excaliber, Krull, Labrynth, Legend, among others.
Remakes only make sense if you are filling in the holes that caused it to fail. The Adventures of Baron Munchausen as well as Time Bandits have a particular style that might not be appropriated but is part of the story.
The original is one of my all time favorite movies from my childhood. This doesn't look horrible and there are several people in it that I trust to be ridiculous yet still deliver a solid storyline. I'm in!
I can honestly see why this is being made and I might give the first couple of episodes a watch, but along with Top Gun, Ghostbusters, and Beverly Hills Cop, I will keep my expectations low
Well, in that case, let's make them drink the source, because there is no need for them to go through another useless remake/reboot of perfect pop gems.
My 15 year son recently discover by himself Monty Python, already a fan. I´m so proud of him. Not everything I did was wrong in his education. I had never made such a perfect description: the holy source of humor. I wil keep it. Thank you.
I went to see the original in the theatres. I loved this film. I want to see this one. I like that Lisa has put a fun spin on the new version. I was trying to remember some of the original cast. Sean Connery played in it. Loved him in it. Looking forward to seeing this film.
@@Miginath Yeah, I mean, come on, how is it possible to forget them if you love the original ??? The new cast will be weak in comparison to say the least !
I loved the original Time Bandits movie. I wish I had Apple+ so I could watch this version, but alas, I already have other streaming services and can only afford so many, and those services have good shows as well.
Of course Apple TV has the comment section turned off. This trailer and remake of Time Bandits is super horrible. They should have casted Person of Short Stature for all six roles of Time Bandits. Nope, we get the DEI version of them which is super cringe 100%. There are plenty of dwarf actors that were availble for potential roles for this remake of this movie. I'm pretty sure that these leftist that cry racism turned a blind eye to this movie.
love the original have the criterion collection edition on DVD , This 2024 version will never replace it , But at the same time it does look like it could be a fun time just saying .
Some comments hate it also before seeing it, I saw the original, but found it a waste of good ideas, if they had done it in a TV serial, every episode could've been deepened. I hope that now they could do a better job.
You completely missed the point of the storytelling of the original : all the plots were amazing because the pace was intentionnally like a cool magic trip, a dream if you like, when you go from one situation to another in the blink of an eye ! Going too slowly in every story would have killed the poetry and beauty and the fun of it !
@@StephenDedalus74Correct, linked wonderfully by Michael Palin and the late Shelley Duval as lovers through time or so they would be if they weren’t forever dealing with ‘the problem’.
I love love love me some Lisa Kudrow, but c'mon. While watching this trailer, all I could hear in my head is, "RERERETURN THE MAMAMAP. RERERETURN WHAT WAS STOLEN FROM ME." Looks like they got a lookalike for the giant with the ship hat. Geez ... all the memories of that movie are rolling in ... "Um, Hood. Robin Hood", "The most fabulous object in the unEEverse", "Leer at them, Darling. You know, like you used to", "Mum! Dad! Don't touch eet. It's evil."
The original still holds up. This was not only completely unnecessary but looks like they intend to ruin everything that made the original the classic that it is.
This did one thing right : reminded me how great and how much I love the original. Where is the wonder, excitement, humour and horror? This looks like another terrible remake/reimagining, when will they stop...
