very well thought out kit. I have almost 50 years experience in the woods, between civilian and military, and most of the items in this, ( and most of the items in Dave Canterbury's 10 C's list) are the same things my dad, grandfather, and Drill Sgts hammered into my head never to head out with out. I have a couple of grab bags like this, some with and some without water. It is always good to get other people's ideas, and I do like how you set things up. also, I have been making paracord doughnuts every since selection, our instructor taught us how to make them, and said never be out of garrison without at least one. I make mine mostly 100-300 feet, but sometimes do make smaller ones like yours, to fit in smaller kits.
Thanks for sharing this information. Great to see not only what your are carrying in your haversack, but also your thought process behind why you are carrying it. Woodsman EDC around 4lbs, is amazing. We all tend to want to pack everything we have in our gear inventory. Overloaded shoulder straps make for a rough trip. Just add a container for water, a small cup or pot, and some lightweight, high energy food and your ready for a day in the woods. Thanks again for sharing.

Thanks Blackie, you've given me some better ideas of what to carry in a haversack. I'm always thinking of all the stuff I put in a rucksack instead , if that makes any sense.. always worry I'm packing too little of the gear I might need and wanting to be prepared for lots of situations.
Deff got me thinking , last weekend a did a overnight on the fl trail , I brought way 2 much bag , most of my weight was water , I'm gonna do the next leg of the trail next weekend , looking forward 2 dropping the "rucksack" and minimizing , thx blackie , love ur channel, peace
my only issue with a net hammock personally is that as a bigger guy, i end up looking like a honey baked ham after laying in one. lol. great video as always Blackie.
i understand..some of the travels hammocks might work for ya..but i love the onewind hammock if you remove the bug net it is light and fairly compact and it is rated up to 1000 pounds..my friend dan lutz is 6 foot 8 and he uses one
I think that almost the perfect setup. I always carry a couple of needles in my wallet, some duct tape wrapped around a card in there, and a couple of bandages. Also, I would update the SAK Fieldmaster to a multi-tool with individual tools that lock open. My choice would be a Leatherman Rebar. Whatever tool you choose should have a blade, saw, and awl. Love the orange bandana. I like having something I can sit or kneel on. My choice is a foot square piece from one of my wife's older orange rubbery yoga mats. It is light and thin and relatively waterproof. I like the redundancy of the Mora. I actually keep it in my pack because where I live, strapping a large knife on my person would be frowned upon. I would toss in about 4 lightweight stakes, too. You won't want to scurry for them in an emergency. Get a sheath and carry a saw (if you think you are going to need it). I can't remember, did you mention a headlamp? This is an excellent video!
Great tip having it hooked behind your belt knife to keep it from swinging forward. I have the same basic haversack, but often don't use it because it drives me nuts when I walk and it wants to sing to my front. On another note, can you provide more info on the net hammock? I've got one of those nylon ones but the net one looks pretty light. Thanks!

I like the idea of the zippered pouch in the flap of your haver sack but I need a deeper one Ine the main body ( front to back ) to allow a 1 liter steel bottle and other pockets inside ( slip pockets ) to slide things into ( saw, knife, sharpener, etc and to keep the center open to hold pouches like first aide, fire kit, and possibles like lite instant food and small cook kit. Also where do you find the mesh hammock and Sil nylon tarp I can't find them but have used them in the past found military ponchos thoe in a military surplus store. Also I use a Walmart full tang fixed blade knife and I also use a beeswax and. Linseed oil mixture to water proof I live in the north where we get a lot of snow and wet weather I like the weight of yours and need a wide adjustable strap and am having trouble finding one any ideas?

Blackie, I'm sorry to ask this on a non-percussion revolver video, but here goes nothing. I saw that you've talked about using soywax pellets over the powder in your cylinders before. Can this take the place of "filler" when trying softer loads (12 grains of 3f for 1851 .36 cal shooting round ball) or is it for lubing purposes only? I don't plan on using wads just yet and wanted to use a few pellets of wax over the powder and homemade lube over the ball until I find the charge that my gun likes.
for me it a lube in the bore..as the powder burns the wax will add a greasy soot..too much of it might effect how the powder burns a few peals like i use adds lube..but a full layers of them may dampen the burn rate and reduce performance
@@BLACKIETHOMAS That's what I figured. 4 or 5 pellets makes sense for lubing purposes. I just didn't know if there was a slight "filler" mentality with it as well. Thanks for responding.
