Just to let you know about my friends experience with a microwave high up. It wasn't as high as yours but above the stove. She was heating some apricot chicken and the dish tipped. The burning hot sauce poured over her chest, giving her, not first or second degree burns but 3rd degree burns (nerve damage burns). She had to be rushed to the hospital. She has a huge gnarly scar years later. The hospital said it's a really common accident, they see it all the time. Needless to say, I moved my own microwave to a lower position on a spare area of my kitchen wall.
Hey yall, The microwave is too high, so replace that upper cabinet with one that is taller and lower the microwave. The best height should be no higher than shoulder height of the primary user. The most convenient height, according to ergonomic studies, is between 2 inches below and 10 inches above the user's elbow height.
Thinset tile mortar is what you want to use to stick that mat down on walls,I've always put red guard waterproofing before I tiled the walls so everything is waterproofed and won't leak.
Good morning you guys hope you guys are having a wonderful day go have some fun and make sure you get everything done that you need done and God bless you guys and have a great day and have fun
Schluter cost more for a reason …… generally microwaves with a vent are between 20 to 24 inches above the cooktop surface and should be vented to fresh air with 6” pipe
You guys are great. Yes, when everything you touch turns to mud, you know it's time to step back and take a break. Essentially, you get into a mode where you just want to get it done, and skip the details.
Don't beat yourself up. You've just built a whole house for you and your family. You're nearly finished. There's"s millions of people, including myself who couldn't even build a sand box...true. It would help if I had some tools haha.
Loved the 1st 5 minutes you & Jan having a laugh.!! Concrete on the walls???😁😄! Was that Larry leading the charge over the desert!!.😃 Great video thanks guys Love from UK @ 4 in the afternnon UK time x x🤓
You guys could build an attached open shelf underneath the microwave cabinet and then attach the microwave to that to bring it to the proper access height.
You guys are just freaking awesome. What I don't get is other channels that lack so much have more subs and views I just don't get it! You'll keep loving eachother mistakes are memories one day it will be a good story at a campfire or with friends 😊
Thinset mortar for the shower wall, I would've used the Schluter system throughout - board on the walls, floor pan kit, curb, drain, and niche. Quick, easy, and 100% waterproof when installed correctly. You need to seam tape the cut in the niche with Schluter seam tape. Micro does seam a little high, almost looks like you cabinet above is too short, usually they're 15-18" That woul drop the microwave down. Usually around 20" from top of stove to bottom of microwave. These are things you learn from experience. Remember, they're not mistakes, they're opportunities to learn!
The microwave is not half a foot too high but an entire foot. You want to be able to look through the windows inside the oven dish to see how things are progressing.
In your last video your microwave was already up and Larry helped you install the counter for your island but now it’s gone in this video? Lol Don’t worry about putting out videos if you don’t have enough new content. We love you guys so it’s all good
Just some advise from a non-expert here; First I would not lower/move those upper cabinets (with the microwave) until you have put your stove in. If I remember correctly from one of your earlier posts, you had some concerns on if the width for the stove was adequate. So once you have resolved that, then you can see if the cabinets need to be moved a little left and down at the same time. Hopefully you can lower it enough without having to move that pot-filler too.
That's the thing about DIY, sometimes you can see that by following the instructions it just is not going to work or look right, plus there are times when I start a job everything seems to be going from bad to worse, nothing is going right no matter how hard I try, at times like these, I admit I just give up for the day before I loose My temper and have a rest, then start again the next day, when I'm back to My usual confident self I find.
Years ago I was at Dumont dunes. In the old days I loved Glamis. Back then we didn’t have all the fancy toes but we had a homemade real job that it would go anywhere we wanted to go. It was so much fun. Haven’t been for years but it has great memories. We also used to go to Pizmo before they made it so small I’m so little that you could do back then you could do all kinds of crazy stuff and camp right on the beach. We were high tech, we had a panel van with a twin bed and a porta potty in there and that’s where we slept for you really get to snuggle or there’s two of you in a twin bed. But back then it was fun times. One time we were alone in the motorhome to go to Glamis that destroyed me because I had a shower to get all that sand off of me and out of my hair to sleep that night. Up until then you just dealt with all that sand all over you. That was a lot of years ago but lotta great memories so have a great weekend. And when I say a long time ago, I’m 74 years old and I was in my late 30s in early 40s back then.
Your upper cabinet above the microwave should be like an 18 and that looks like it’s a 12 double check because your microwave should not be that high that’s for basketball players
Your last video had the microwave already installed on the wall, it would be nice to see at least one of the projects completed in a video, basically none of your projects are completely finished yet.
Personally everytime I see a microwave over a stove I think of how dangerous hat is. There so such a huge potential for a burn or lighting clothes on fire I'm sure there is somewhere else to mount it But get a break to clear your mind
