My friend Phil lost his life on 6 January while riding his bike, when he was struck by a car. Phil would normally ride his bike, then walk and climb up monkey mountain, unfortunately he never got to finish his routine, so today, in honor of Phil, I finished it for him. While walking, I talk about Gift and I evaluating if we should continue with RU-vid and if it’s really worth it. My friend. Later on in the day we attend Phil’s cremation. Music: Vince Gill - Go Rest High On That Mountain Will Dempsey - Beat You There Thank you for watching!
In Belgium in this case if they were officialy married for the law and I assume Phil only had a pension and his wife didn't then she will now get what we call a 'widow pension ' which is almost if not the same amount as what Phil got.
Hi Joe awesome tribute to Phil. Thank you for taken us along. I will support you and Gift in what ever your decision is with RU-vid . You both will truly be missed. I think you had one of the better channels on YT, I’ve been following you for quite some time now. You have given us so much information about Thailand, travel, places to stay, great stories, great friends. Nothing but love and respect for you both❤️🙏
That was a very nice tribute to Phil. I’m glad you’re able to support his wife through this emotional time. As far as your channel is concerned, if you need to slow down or stop for a while, that’s completely understandable. It’s not about the money. It’s about the time commitment that takes away from you and Gift. Take your time and decide what’s best for you. Best Wishes from Udon.
Tears in my morning coffee here in America, Joe. You and Gift make the world a better place and that is not easy to do in such a cynical world where faceless people, cowards, consider it a sport to try to destroy the light you guys bring into the world. RIP, Phil.
What an beautiful and touching tribute to Phil. One of your best I have watched. Love Gifts and your videos and your travels, thank you. The values and respect you both show is fantastic and refreshing. Thank you!!
...thanks for taking us along on your tribute walk/climb with Phil up Monkey Mountain. Joe and Gift ... follow your heart. We both greatly respect your decisions of your future life's journeys. RIP Phil...

Joe, you are a true gentlemen with honor and class. Please, please don't stop the videos. Just do you. The world is a better place with you and Gift. She makes me laugh when she dances. I am truly sorry for the loss of your friend.
Beautiful tribute for your friend…. sorry for your loss. We just made that same climb and have explored the entire region, including your neck of the woods. My wife had lunch with Klaus’s wonderful wife, while I had the pleasure of meeting Klaus and another gentleman who was there visiting. We’re from the Northeast USA and have been blown away by the beauty of the region and the wonderful people we have met along the way…. may God Bless you all🙏
You said it Joe: “You know who you are” and so do we! Dittos to all the positive comments… Thanks for your time on the mountain yesterday. I’m the guy who stopped you and shared some of your story.. George from Georgia!
I've known personally many deaths in my nearly 70 years. If there's any comfort in this, it's that he left doing what he loved, in the place where he wanted to be. Joe, you and Gift are exemplary good friends. It was definitely a great tribute to Phil and his wife. ❤
Hi Im Peter from Sweden. I have been watching your content from Italy. I just wanna say wow you have a big heart. I hope you wanna continue make videos. Lots of love from me to you and your family and friends. I feel that is the most importent things to do. Take care and love them.
Hello Joe and Gift!! We follow you since long time. You are good persons and we appreciate the vidéos you put on RU-vid. Keep going and ignore the trolls. All your vidéos seems that they were made by good heart. We went to Thailand last may because we discover your vidéos first and after we discover Chuck and others from Thaïlande. We plan to go back soon. Thank you for your time.
A lovely tribute to your friend. Please try to ignore the trolls. The information you give us and the insight into your life in Thailand is appreciated by many more of us. Do what is best for you both, we'll still be watching when you care to share. One day my husband & I may get to buy you a beer (iced chocolate for Gift 🤣). Take care of you and yours xxx
I'm sure Phil is smiling down on you from above Joe. My sincere condolences to you and Phil's family on this tragic loss. As for your channel, you do what's right for you and Gift for i know you'll have the support of most of your subscribers. All the best mate.
Joe, I love your perspective I’m a property developer I love hearing about prices and what things cost. As for Phil. I watched that video. He seemed like such a great guy. Rest in peace Phil .
Hi Joe andGift thank you for all your videos if you never post another video I want you guys to know how much I enjoyed all your videos. Also I respect your integrity and gift’s compassionate person that you guys always hold true. Thank you and I hope someday on my travels in Thailand to meet you guys! Enjoy your time and life together! Wonder people and I’m thankful for getting to know you guys from afar😊 Brad from Tucson
Thanks Joe for sharing from your heart. Life is unpredictable so take special care of yourselves . You guys are so real and selfless, take time for healing and videos will come only when you feel to open up. One a week , one a month it's all ok. Live spontaneously and please don't feel an obligation to us viewers. Happy just to know you and Gift are ok and caring for each other! Love from NZ.
Excellent video Joe. I have been watching you from close to the beginning. I really appreciate what all you talked about today. You are a true gentleman with a heart of gold. Love and prayers from snowy Iowa.
Please keep the videos coming I love everyone of them, I have been coming to Thailand now for 20 years and in October of 2023 moved here to live, now I find myself watching your videos and planning my next trip or trips to the places you 2 have been too,
HI Joe & Gift Thank you very much for a very moving tribute to your very close friend Phil and what a loving walk that you did climbing up Monkey Mountain, again thank you . I hope Phil's wife is OK again my thoughts are with you all.
What a touching video, sorry for your lost. Joe you are a true friend. One that I would be honored to have in my corner in a moment of need. I lost my best friend last July to cancer, the pain is still with me. I miss him dearly. Keep up the good work, hope to visit you some time in Hua Hin. Kind regards, Lucky
Todays content was beautiful. I liked the scenery and hearing the waves breaking. I'm so sorry for the tragic death of your friend, Phil. 😢 I liked your video in Pai and look forward to seeing the Philippines. If you can mention prices of a meal, drinks, transport, etc I find that really useful when future trip planning for myself. Thank you for making and sharing your videos
You are a true Gentleman Joe, honouring your promise to climb Monkey Mountain in Phil’s memory shows that you are a true friend. Whatever you and Gift choose to do with your YT channel I will be watching and appreciating your content. 🙏🏻🇹🇭🇦🇺
Hey Joe. Great video/tribute to Phil. You and Phil’s care for the dogs say it all as to what kind of human beings you are. I’ve stopped following a lot of channels, but am a faithful follower of yours. Do it however makes your retirement the best. Happier New Year to you and Gift.
Good Evening Joe and Gift. You are very thoughtful couple. I enjoyed watching this very sad video in tribute to your friend. I pray for your late friend wife and her family. Life is short and we should all make the most of it. Ethel from London.
Good Video Joe 😊. I always look forward to your videos 📹. Maybe it would be good to take time off for a little bit. Just reevaluate and relax 😌 😎. Good climb for Phil 😢. Stay Safe for you and Gift 💕 💞 🙏 🙏.
You keep being you! I appreciate what you have created with your channel. My condolences on your loss. Thank you for all of your efforts to show your audience what life can be like being retired in Thailand. Cheers from Chiang Mai!!
Sorry to hear about Phil. My prayers for his wife. Sending positive thoughts and thanks to you and gift. I’ll always be grateful for you sharing your story and meeting with me here in Thailand. Hope to make down your way this year for a visit. Thanks again Joe.
I didn't know Phil but the way you honored his memory, he must have been a nice guy. May he rest in peace. I hope his wife finds the courage and strength to continue her journey without him.
Thanks Joe and Gift, always appreciate your honest and genuine approach in your videos. There will always be those who want to criticise, keep strong :)
Joe, may your friend, Phil, rest in peace. Hats off to you, Joe...for providing such a wonderful tribute to Phil. Normally not a teary-eyed guy...but this "VID" got me. I am quite pleased to note that you and Gift are giving Phil's wife an assist...must be a very awkward situation for her not to have access to vitals such as money...so thanks for that...keeps us posted on her outcomes as this progresses...again, I salute your efforts here...good on Ya! -steve-
Sorry for the loss of your friend. Hope that you and Gift will continue with your You Tube channel as it is not a daily routine for both of you. Anyway, what ever your decision, we will have to accept it. In the meantime keep safe and healthy.
You are a loyal friend Joe and we could feel your pain watching this video. Keep up the great work mate and we hope you do continue with your video's. Happy New Year to both you and Gift and we look forward to what you present in overseas travel. By the way just ignore the negative comments. As you said envious people that achieve nothing can only get satisfaction from knocking those that are living the dream.
So touching video. So sorry your losing a good friend. You and Gift are very lovely people. This content what you two make here in youtube is very nice to watch. No need to worried about how often make videous in here, we followers can wait❤
Your a nice guy Joe. Your RU-vid channel helped inspire me to relocate to Thailand back in 2021 and I met some nice people (mile and Nokky) from your channel as well. You help a lot of people but it comes at a cost to you through some of the negativity. Just do what brings you the least amount of stress and feels the best. See you around some day! 😊
Gosh Joe- please don’t stop producing your content! Just keep being who you and don’t let the trolls get to you! So sorry for your loss and you’re an honorable man to do the walk in honor of your friend, Phil😊
Been following your channel for a long time, loved your house build, I done a similar climb for my friend in Thailand which was documented on karlsthailand on you tube, he was also a sergeant major of over twenty years in the British army, he was only 64, thanks for your content,
Condolences Joe 😢 you have bought me to tears , I love your and Gifts channel , and the content , I really do hope you continue with doing what you both do so well ❤🎉
Joe I would like to express my sincere sorrow following the loss of your friend. He always seemed a decent fellow and sooo focused on what he wanted to do. I can well see why you thought highly of him. May he rest in peace. 👍👍👍
As a long time follower, I love the stuff from the two of you. That said as we get older and are no longer beholden to anyone (and I am 73), if we are not getting joy from something, we should change. Life is for living and we should wake each day with joy and wonder. You owe your RU-vid followers nothing really - you have already paid your dues. Remember what Nirvana once sang, “Here we are now, entertain us.” I think that applies to many of your followers, probably me included. Be good, live, love and enjoy. If and when your RU-vid channel becomes an unwelcome burden, keep smiling and move on. Peace to the both of you fine humans.
Hi gift and Joe great tribute to a true friend you did him proud Joe finishing his last climb up monkey mountain keep doing the blogs gift and Joe l love them thank you
Thanks gift and Joe keep up with the great work you are doing about Thailand l am going to be there in April hope to see you but if I don't l still love you both
A very nice tribute to Phil, Joe. I pray the peace of Christ which passes all understanding will rest on Phil's wife.at this dark time. Kindest regards, Paul
That was a very deep insightful video and anyone would be lucky to have you as a friend, you have done a good thing in remembrance of your friend Phil I'm sure he would do the same.
Joe I been enjoying your channel from day 1. You remind me of me,easy going and blocking trolls .Trolls are every where, Craigslist, Market Place, Offer Up and many more Places. Post and they want to buy without a picture means troll. Enjoying Joe and Gifts channel,Keep up the good work, and enjoy retirement .God Bless . Yes you will like the Philippines,my wife has a big family enjoying life in the Philippines
God bless you guys and weather you do or don't continue making RU-vid vid's is up to you and no body else, we'll still watch what ever you guys put out... We've got a long 5yrs till I get my pension then we'll be coming over to start the next step in our lives living in rural Thailand. May our Lord continue to smile on all of you and keep you in his light.
Wonderful tribute to your friend. I sincerely hope you continue to put out videos, even if you cut back on frequency. But of course that's you and Gift's decision to make, just letting you know I enjoy the content and information. Take care and God bless.
thx for sharing this video brother, sorry for the loss of your friend. stay strong you and Gift are amazing i hope to keep doing videos i followed you from the beginning ;)
Joe from someone who currently lives in Canada and watches your vids it because of people like you that my wife and I are relocating to Thailand next month April 1,2024, thanks for all the effort.
Continued prayers 🙏. Please do you. You deserve the best. I give you all the credit in the world. You are younger than me but I give you cudos for the climb and follow through
I've looked at a lot of comments and have been watching your videos for a long time. They look very supportive to me. You nailed it on the envious, malicious, jerks looking for attention. Don't give them any. You and Gift are good people. I'd like you to be happy. If making the videos makes you happy I'll be happy to keep watching. You do you and stay cool.
Loved this video Joe. What you did for Phil is an insight into your own honorable character. I’ve watched your channel for a long time and I have been given valuable insights into daily life as an expat in Thailand. I’ve met Gift and you, you’ve hosted my son and I so kindly. All I can say Joe is ‘do what fills your own love tank.’ Sadly bringing people along for the ride means allowing assholes to snipe and try to take the wind out of your sails. Those who know you will always continue to support and love you both. So do videos as and when you feel like it mate. You’re a beautiful couple of friends and I look forward to seeing you again
I am very sorry for the loss of your friend. No easy time to lose someone from your life, but know that Phil would want you to remember him while still letting him go. Life is short, sometimes shorter than we expect. Enjoy each day to the fullest extent possible. I still hope to meet you guys at some point. Until then, stay well.
I love your videos and will be very sad should you chose to stop. There are some very unpleasant people around but I believe want goes around comes around and they will get what they deserve. You are both very caring and genuine people. Love what you have just done in the memory of your friend. Take care and have a lovely trip.
