Your persistence from skunk to feast was really great. You always work hard and still have time to prepare and share with your friends. Thank you Taku for sharing and caring 🙏
Many things amaze me about Taku, but one of the most impressive is how much gear he unfailingly manages to stow onto his kayak without sinking himself!
Really enjoy the quality variety on this channel. Some videos are filmed so perfectly and edited to perfection with music and such. Other times it’s nice to see Taku go back to the bare bones style of most fishing catch & cook channels on RU-vid with just a go pro. You the man Taku
Look up Vietnamese “Cua Rang Me”, it is a stir fry crab recipe and it brings out such a flavorful aroma of the crab. It would be delicious to add your Kelp Chili Crisp!
@@therevanchist2869 ah the usual distasteful mocking of a foreign language, from a person who most likely isn’t educated enough to broaden their own intellectual understanding of the “bigger world” around them, while watching a video produced by someone who actually embodies culture and inclusion. Thanks for taking a couple seconds out of your day to be ignorantly “funny”. Kudos to you my friend.
I've lived my whole live in New York, a city dweller, and I wish I could experience a day like that. Crabbing in a kayak on some smooth water, on a calm foggy day. That last bite he took, dipped in the head butter (I think they call it?) with the chili flakes!!! That would beat any vacation I've ever been on.
Dude there’s plenty of crabbing both on the Hudson and the Jersey Shore. We used to go down to Tom’s River NJ and comeback with garbage cans full of Blue Claws.
You just cannot compare previously frozen store-bought Dungeness crab to fresh caught, it's on a whole other level. Just another thing I miss about NorCal, crab season! 🦀🦀🦀🦀
Crabbers Virginia keep a cut down boat hook on the gunwale to snag the crab pot cork. A even shorter handled one might be worth having in a kayak so you don't have to maneuver so much or go around. Or lean out of the boat. You could keep it by your feet on the ceiling. Taku really knows how to live. There's always a little chaos going on that is funny.
Wdup taku! I’ve been a viewer for many years. My friend caught some dungees last weekend from bodega bay and gave me a couple. Made crab ramen following your past video and damn….was the best ramen I’ve ever made. Made my wife very happy! Appreciate you! Stay up brother.
Also, with all the doom and gloom of Alaskan season being cancelled for commercial crabbers, its nice to see wild life still flourishing. Lets hope those crabs keep making delicious future generations.
@@icy_mathematician827 the 11 billion crabs was specifically for snow crabs in Alaska but there are similar news stories talking about dungeness crab dieoffs
We always used big class when we could claim dig...store them in freezer in a batch until we can use them...Crack them before you put them in the bait bo...if we didn't have clams...we used chicken backs...Mom always cut up our own chickens for the freezer...
How about making a collaboration video with Daddy Lau on the Made with Lau channel and let him cook up some of the crab with ginger and scallions Cantonese style. They are also in the bay area
love when you in the bay hitting the spots catching some good eats...stay good tako...you do inspire amigo..love your content and love to see the creative mind you bring to your channel...always will be watching.....stay eating good and cheers
Aloha Taku! You got me fired up. Going crabbing with the bruddahs for some Samoan Crabs (Hawaii Mud Crab). Make some dungy crab chowder. I might try too. Question is New England or Manhattan style? 🦀🎣🍻🤙🏽
There's a seafood restaurant in HK from my childhood that used to be a resort hotel. Still there today actually. Back in the 70s, they used to keep a live monkey in a cage at the driveway entrance. It's pretty inhumane. So they don't do that any more, but I still remember my mom telling me to wave to the monkey. What you do, is buy the good stuff from the nearby dock area live seafood stores and bring it to the restaurant. We always make sure to include a few crabs. BECAUSE - they make this amazing crab butter sticky rice dish that's the most fragrant, ocean-y, and crabby thing you can imagine. I think the sticky rice is steamed with the crab butter + lots of garlic + green onions, and may be shallots. Then served with the rest of the crab on top. The moment the dish arrives at the table, you get immediately blasted by pepper spray - if they made pepper spray out of crab butter. Gotta love crab. Yes. I tend to overeat at that restaurant... Can't wait to visit HK again.
First off long time subscriber here and love your videos an what you do! Dungeness crab is my favorite crab even over King crab. You asked for recipe ideas so here goes. Being a Louisiana boy we love our crawfish boils but you can do it with pretty much any crustacean. We add all kinds of things to our boils and you like to mushroom forage and they are awesome in the boils. They soak up all that seasoning! Onion halves, potatoes, sausage, whole cloves of garlic, mushrooms, corn on the cobb, bay leaves, oranges, and lemons are mainstays but I have seen all sorts of things added to it. Lately though I have been seeing videos where they do these Cajun Vietnamese seafood boils with this spicy garlic butter sauce. Just search it up to find a recipe for it and I am sure you will add your own Taku twist to it. They look so delicious but seafood boils are no small affair so you could do a subscriber invite for it! I am way down here in Louisiana so couldn't make it but would love to see some NW folks enjoy a taste of Louisiana! Stay blessed you two and keep the vids coming! 💯👍
Looks like a lot of fun. I love the channel i found you back in august when i was looking up fishing in Alaska. Been watching every week. I learn a lot from your cooking. Take care and stay safe.
I went crab snaring for the second time in my life. The first time I skunk hard but this year was successful for me. Caught 3 males all over 6 inches which was dope since I wasn’t even sure if my handmade snares was going to even work.
I remember the time my family went to Oregon when I was younger and we went on a boat to fish and drop crab nets. Everyone who paid would split all the crab after 50% went to the company. Lets just say there was so much we all got 2 almost 3 large hefty bags of crab. They also par boiled them before we left. AMAZING crab cakes. Plus I always loved the fact that oysters were cheap as hell around that time 2008-2010. We would get 10ish dozen and eat most of them raw but some cooked on the grill. Still love oysters to this day but very expensive here in Arizona compared to Oregon.
The recipes that I would recommend is I would like to see you make a seafood lasagna something that's different that'll get you out of your comfort zone I'm a chef and I have to cook different food all the time and sometimes it makes me go crazy because I have to cook stuff I've never made before but that's the best part of being a chef make a seafood crab lasagna
Next time your in Homer send me a PM would love to go fishing with ya, hopefully weather is good and we take my 26' cabin cruiser out for some good fishin
