What a great job on a difficult song. Your guitar work is impeccable, especially considering that this was written for two guitars. Your fingerpicking patterns do a great job of matching the feeling of the original. One suggestion. The reason that Jim Croce's original version of this song was such a powerful hit was not because Croce was the best singer or the best guitarist. He was a competent singer and a very good guitarist, but that is not why this song was so popular. The reason it was a mega-hit was because Croce wrote this from his own life experience, and he FELT everything in this song as he remembered the girl he wrote it for. That emotion, his deep feelings for the girl he loved, was transferred through his voice and presentation when he sang, and listeners could FEEL what he was feeling when he sang it. This is something that would help you as you sing. I sing and write original songs on guitar, and I get it that sometimes it takes hundreds of practice sessions to get the vocals and guitar technically correct. And after you sing a song dozens of times, it can become so familiar to you that you no longer FEEL the emotions you did when you first heard the song. But when you perform, you need to act like this is the first time that you have heard this song and recreate the emotions of that song. This takes your audience into the song with you, into the world the song is creating. The greatest songwriters are not always the best singers or musicians. The greatest songwriters are almost always the greatest storytellers. They take you to the circumstances and emotions of a place you have never been before. To sing a song without real emotion is like kissing someone who is just acting like they like you. They are going through the motions of connecting with you, but their heart isn't there with you. I add this note to encourage you, not to criticize you. You really did a wonderful job with this song.
