Recently there were some dry thunderstorms due to monsoonal moisture. Some wildfires sparked by lightning. Will post soon!

@@1.4142 Here in the mountains of Cordoba I do not remember having witnessed dry electrical storms, but I think I am wrong

@@matice535 Yeah, it is much drier here during the summer, and a lot of the rain evaporates as it falls over the desert.

Happy Halloween (soon)! Nearing dawn tomorrow morning, or 2 - 6 am, there will be a possibly severe thunderstorm, as well as the threat of hail and damaging winds. The SPC forecasts a marginal risk of severe weather. Just north of San Antonio, there is a 2% chance of tornadoes, meaning a 2% chance that a tornado will occur within 25 miles of you. Most of the action will be in Oklahoma and northwest Texas, where there is a capping inversion and favorable wind shear (SE wind at the surface and SW winds at higher altitudes). As the night progresses, these will merge into a linear MCS system. This storm system is the same one that recently dumped heavy rain here in California. It was a welcome relief from the drought! Overall, this is not much to worry about. The week after this event will be mostly sunny and fair in San Antonio.

Forward flank downdrafts are the main precipitation zones of supercells. As this is a mere virga shower and not a organized supercell, ffd can't be used to describe it. Since storms move in the direction of it, they are called forward flank downdrafts. This is in contrast to the rear flank downdraft which is next to the mesocyclone and aid in tornado formation.

@@1.4142 epic. I got to see some of those ripple cloud things, whatever they are called, and we finally got some rain. The ants hopefully will leave us alone now.

It was cool, there weren't many trick or treaters, but I helped make a haunted house for an elementary school and watched a movie. You?

@@itzrenzo8960 Looks like it has some pretty heavy rain and even hail! However, I would classify it as a garden variety storm because there is not much windshear, therefore no rotation, so it will rain itself out fairly quickly. But new storms will develop ahead of the gust front.
