Teacher: Explain ladybugs with one word. Me: hMMmMmM Teacher: please hurry up Me: Cannibalism Edit: Oof how did i get these likes before this comment i had like 5 likes on another comment
Love how the aphids have absoloutely no response to ladybug larvae eating their friends, they don't even bother like moving away from the potential predators
The egg that got eaten by the other larvae might have been unfertilized. Sometimes insects lay unfertilized eggs to provide food when the fertilized eggs hatch in case there's not a good food source nearby.
James Merryman Okay First of all Wow you know a lot about animal which is super cool Second how did you type all that with out ONE mistake Third Yes I meant Infertile egg And Fourth Thanks😊😂
When I was 7 I watched a ladybug hatching and nobody believed me when I said it was yellowish white and nobody believed me that the larvae and cocoons are ladybugs (we all thought it was some kind of other weird insect) and now, after 11 years, *I HAVE PROOF*
These are actually Asian lady beetles. I once had one land on my hand at work and my young students came running up to me to admire it. Then it suddenly laid an egg on my finger. We were all so amazed and I immediately started thinking about how to safely relocate it into a terrarium so the kids could observe its life cycle. Then the beetle turned around and ate the egg right in front of us. 😂 Still an interesting and educational experience!
Omg.. haha, I came here to make the same comment!! They are Asian lady beetles. They have more than 5 polka dots and the white "M" mark on their head is always a give away that it's not a "true" ladybug.
Honestly it isn't a bad strategy. If she thought your finger wasn't a great place to lay an egg but she had to anyway, better to eat it and roll those resources back into a new egg in a better spot. Kind of like a period for a lady bug.
Is it bad that I never actually thought of ladybugs being larve once? EDIT: Holy flop nuggets, I wrote this a year ago and never came back to it... 3.2k likes!?
As I kid I once caught a lady bug and put it in a jar with some rose branches and a magnifying glass on top. She blessed me with her babies and I got to observe this. Most interesting experience you can have as a kid. I took care of her babies to make sure they had enough food and set them free after they had grown up. Would definitely recommend this to parents.
I had a similar experience. I caught one from my school, took it home, then put her in a container that had tubes and other things she could crawl around in. I named her Rocky and soon after she layed some eggs. After that, I watched everyday to see if they made it, and when they hatched, I let Rocky and her children free. God I hope she didn't eat them as soon as they left the container.
Imagine being an insect and having all this crazy stuff happen to you and you have no idea why. "Ok time to shed that skin, I've been through this before so I know what to expect. Oh, I guess I'm a pupa this time. All the other times I shed my skin I kept the same form, but okay I guess. Oh snap I can't move, well I guess I'll just stay in this one place for a while. Finally I'm able to escape. Why was I stuck inside myself for so long? Oh well, I'm free now. Hey look, I have wings now. Sweet."
What people say: “Ladybugs are symbols of peace and love.” What ladybugs actually are: Cannibalistic predators. Edit: Years after posting this I learn how to edit a comment...
@@luffybetterr Don't be too scared; unless you're an aphid. Ladybugs are beneficial to us since they eat said aphids. Aphids eat crops. Farmers love ladybugs for this reason.
@@noahhorner231 yup what I always thought is ladybugs are beautiful too they didnt hurt other only their species but the way the eat each other just making me uncomfortable Since I rarely see a ladybugs so:/
As a milk weed grower, seeing the horrifying lady bug larvae destroy the aphids is very soothing! Thank you so much for showing us this spectacular piece of nature!

Honestly I like spiders they got a good vibe and their not one of the millions of creepy looking insects that eat one and other spiders eat small insects and common house spiders Don't wanna cause no trouble, they tend to only use the instinct of wrapping up their prey and let their nets do the hunting work for them, I like to think they don't have a bad 'bone' in their body. #CharlottesWeb X-D
Soooooo"" nobody is pointing out that lady bugs are actual face huggers, and the eggs' look the same when they hatch and everything. Que X-files musice
Seemed to be an undevelloped egg. Usually egg clusters have a few eggs without anything growing in them for the larvae to feed on so they can gain a bit of energy after the exhausting hatch
I read lady bugs like mushrooms. I normally eat portabello and white button. So, I just leave one out. It stays on the mushroom all day. When the mushroom drys out. I replace it or keep it moist.
So everytime a ladybug lands on you and you think it's a cute little thing, just remember that its a savage cannibal predator warrior that survived until adulthood.
if one of these cute bugs decides to bite you for whatever reason they will draw blood :) nearly got killed one day when one was smooshed by the drivers left arm in a car I was riding in. bit him on the elbow and dug in.. driver was not focused on the road. guy actually pulled over to dislodge the thing. then he let it go.
Bart Simpson tbh i think many animals are cannibal, they eat in order to survive; so if their own kind is available, might as well eat them. its like a mouse mother eating their offspring to survive
For ladybugs that have spots, the spots show up gradually. The one in the vid show the "skin" is still wet. Once it gets dry, you can see the spots. 🐞 Pls do check them in my channel. Happy new year. ✌💚☕
I love how the comment section freaks out as if ladybugs pretended to be cute and lied to them their whole life. 🤣🤣 Cannibalism is very common in nature. Specially with Insects
Thank you very much for the work of creating this video. I never knew that those leaf-catching insects were actually ladybug larvae. I knew ladybugs ate aphids. But I didn't know they were cannibals and that when they were larvae they looked like that. Now I realize that I saw ladybugs in the garden in all 3 stages of development and I always thought they were different insects, different species when in fact they were all ladybugs.
I love ladybugs. I get them where I live anytime it's cold and then it gets really warm. We don't kill them. Someone told me they bite but I have never been bitten and it's really cool to watch them drink water! If it's cold outside and I find one, I let them hang out near my plants until the next day when it warms up. I actually saw babies for the first time this year!! The babies aren't actually babies they are more like immature ladybugs. They are adorable. 🐞
